Some things I would like to add to your list. Check your enemies or allies traits. Allying with someone like Sun Ce who is incredible ambitious is a thin margin between getting betrayed or having an ally. Second, if you beat someone down and they still have a lot of territories up, most of the time it is best to sue for peace when they ask because 9/10 times you bout to be hit with massive declarations of war in my experience. Lastly whomever you get a coalition with try and make it someone who is really diplomatic and not too ambitious. As Cao Cao I tried to have a coalition with Yan Shu and I was thrown into sooo many wars because I was allied with him. The idea of who you hangout with determines how people look at you is somewhat true in this game.

Ambushing enemies are very viable if used properly.. One way to use is to when you are facing 2-3 armies.. setting up your army to ambush correctly allows you to whack and destroy 1 army instead of fighting 2-3 armies at the same time. Sometimes when I have 2 armies side by side, I set one up to ambush while the other act as bait to draw the enemy..

*I use ambush ALL the time* . It is the best way to defeat the enemy in almost every strategic situation. Also, the enemy will position itself depending on where your armies are. If you always, or mostly, keep all of your armies in ambush, they have no idea where you are. This will cause the AI to move armies out of settlements they normally would defend. Whenever possible, even when at peace, I keep all my armies in ambush stance. There are endless ways to make use of ambush to defeat enemy armies: 1) Put a full army in ambush stance, and place a single general or weak, small army right next to them. The AI will attack the small army and fall into your ambush. I've used this so many times since Rome 2 I've lost count. Probably hundreds or even thousands of times. This works really well with the weak army raiding the enemy's territory. 2) Hide an ambush army on your southern border near a long line of sparsely defended enemy settlements. Put an obvious feinting army up north on the border with the enemy as well. The enemy will take the bait. When they attack your weak army, retreat to your settlement (with a garrison). Take southern army out of ambush and start sweeping up from the south. 3) Leave the settlement nearest the enemy's border undefended. (I usually just use the settlement they've attacked in the past.) Put an ambushing army right next to it. This is effective if the enemy has a large army just sitting near your border or in their closest settlement. Declare war and watch them walk right into an ambush. The only limit is your imagination.

Have you try Attila on legendary? That's fucking unplayable if you don't include precise calculation into it. So difficult it got negative reviews.

@@natthapong3046Attila is almost unplayable on even easier difficulties unless you like punishment. But three kingdoms is more difficult in that the ai diplomacy, character management, story management mechanics are much more complicated.

Thanks for the tips. I just started playing this a few days ago and have found the learning curve pretty steep. I'm enjoying it a lot though and I'll try putting these tips to use next time I play.

Ambush stance is extremely viable. Although I only use it when I know where my enemy is going. Rather than just guessing and wasting a turn. Or I'm just heavily outnumbered. Which comes in handy. Even still, being up close to an enemy at his flanks is good for any situation. Your army, being ready to charge, and your archers in range already from the start.

Ambush is so strong. You use a weak stack with a strong stack in ambush to bait them out of there citys before a siege so your not fighting a garrison and army reinforcements . Ambush let you deploy all around there army and hammer and anvil from the start if u ambush u can wins odds that are incredibly not in your favor. Very useful especially in warhammer

Also, you are able to colonise taiwan first you have to click on the sea and have your army on boats then you can order it to land on taiwan

Started playing total war last year and went from warhammer to Three kingdoms and my brain hurt to the point that I just stopped playing three kingdoms and just got back into it after not playing total war for like 7 months and now it’s confusing but I’m not basing it off a really easy to learn system so it’s both good and bad the bad part being I have no clue what the heck I am doing and the good is that I’m learning got to turn like 30 before everything went to hell

depending on your factions, the play style may vary if you're still learning, I'd recommend to pick Sun Jian

I'm still getting used to the economy,even now I'm still experimenting with the building composition to make the best of each type of province,increasing income while keeping public order high

Ambush, if you have an offensive force with some cav, is the best way to dish out maximum casualties on resilient armies. It's very good for taking on 2 or more stacks of you're desperate.

I win sooo many ambush battles and also enable night battles are amazing outnumbered 1/3 and I attacked them but enable night battles so they couldn't get their reinforcements then destroyed the second army and 6 archery units with flame and break their moral

The only time I will ever do ambush is if I plan on taking a city/commandery and I notice that the AI is building an army and it would be easier to sack afterwards. (Only if there is an ongoing war against another faction)

Can you also change the personal army each commander has ? Like the 6 units each one has. Can I change the units without having to disband them and recruit new ones? I don't know how to move them to another commander. Man I have played all total war games but I find it really hard to get in this one T_T I really want to but I have no clue what's all happening.

You can switch out the units, still gotta pay for the new unit though. The option is above the unit when you select them

tips on miltary supplies??

Do these tips still apply to how the current game is as now? Just asking since many other people are suggesting to have small settlements and not to fully upgrade them to lvl 10 cities

I wanna get this game bad plus it's on sale I played a little bit of it but it seems I would have trouble there is so much to the game I had problems with and i feel like it would take to long to catch on to the game.

It is a decent game even for european people who are not familiar with geography, factions and names. But i wish it is for medieval III.

To add on, ambush ambush ambush ambush. Even if you see two stacks coming to your city stepping out into ambush will let you pick one off out of ambush and then fight the other one with a garrison reinforcement. If you get lucky the AI might even decide to only send one army because they wanna be efficient like you. So the one army is even easier to kill. Encamp is good, but the AI can see you. Most provinces except for some of the central plains where cao cao and yuan shao start have pretty obvious entrance points so you can be sure they'll walk into it and usually have the territory to hide in. Maybe have some commander (yellow generals) with the ambush skills that can help you pull them off in cheesy territory. Building should be on the back burner as your prolly gonna lose territory (hopefully temporarily) and your income could dip negative so try to keep a cushion while your under threat. Might need to spawn a new army fast too. Prioritize your food production, then your cheap army spawn city, and your money ones last. As you get the wars under control get some anti corruption buildings going

The stronger you get and the stronger your ally gets, the higher threat you both become to each other thus creating negative diplomatic relations. Especially when one becomes an empire, you automatically become enemies with other empires pretty much

Yes, it’s called Records mode. When starting a campaign you can do records mode which turns off all the hero abilities and super strength. They become normal generals with bodyguards instead like other total war historical games

His mic may be ok however when his voice raises there are some cracks. Also in p’s and f’s sound puffs. that means pop filter is necessary which brings us he either uses a good headphone mic or a mic without pop filter

Posts a video called things i wish i knew, ends up doing a general strategy video. Things i wish i knew videos should be about fundamentals, features of the game that are easy to miss, rare insights, some overlooked synergies, some nice keyboard shortcuts that make life easier, and the like. If you're gonna do a strategy video, call it strategy. Between all the click bait titles and titles where people don't know what words mean anymore, it' became very hard to find what we look for on youtube.

@@TotalWarKS Fundamentals that people miss. Such as the meaning of the 5 colors or some basic fundamental that the game doesn't explain in the tutorial. I just started today, and i like to figure out the strategies myself instead of following a recipe from a video (like what buildings to start with). For this reason i look for "wish i knew" videos and not tips and strategies because that's not what i am looking for.

@@markwhitaker574 Shogun was very good. Enjoy this one! And if you like warhammer, try its version of total war, it's the best i played in the series.

Total War did a terrible job of creating a tutorial system for this game. But then again, the franchise is dying anyway so no one cares.

This game is too complicated

Oh god this game has encampment too. I swear in Rome 2 you can take over the whole map with 3 phalanx units and spamming fortified stance.
