I feel like Ive just been invited round for a besties afternoon get together & loved every minute of it. I felt a connection in so many ways it brought a smile to my face & made me excited to look at my stash & patterns. I loved the connection with the seeing colour in music, dance & knitting. My grandmother knit and it was very stockinette. I finally decided to try and the first project I wanted to knit had a huge cable in it. No one told me could not and I did it.

You guys are the best people! so hot here in NY today and happy I decided to get on here and have you keep me company while I fret about 90F weather lol. Felt joy throughout! the sock is coming along nicely and it's so pretty. Stephen I see how you're not into it because you're right, you know exactly what it needs and can't vary from it except you can because are you so creative. I mean look at the pattern you applied on your sock! the question is will it look great with a traditional heel lol. I think it will. DPNs are okay, I thought it was super sexy to use except when my hands are tired, which is most times, I lose grip of the empty one and it doesn't make me happy to drop anything so I learned magic loop either single or 2@ a time and I'm done. Do what brings you joy! like you always say

Stephen if I can knit socks, anyone can! I mostly crochet but wanted to learn how to knit socks so I did! I'm 4 pairs down and so far only done simple vanilla socks. I tried magic loop which was a big nope! DPN's were a big nope too, 9in short circulars are where it's at for socks! Give it a go! Who ever thought I'd be giving Stephen West knitting advice! Lol!!!

I would love to see a video about music and knitting and texture. I am an avid knitter and musician and it is interesting how many of my knitting friends are also involved in music.

Stitch is beyond beautiful and cute.

In order to successfully knit my crisscrosses on my shawlography I had to on the second row of that section remove my inner changeable needle tip and treat the cord like a needle. It would have otherwise been way too tight.

My husband learned to knit two years ago, when I inspired 😉him to knit his first ever socks in the round with magic loop. I agree with Linda - teaching or learning how to knit - you have to find something you would like to wear or use, and not be intimidated by learning something new - and have someone handy to help you out when you make mistakes. ☺️(He now also knits sweaters, and has knit a couple of Stephen’s Dustland hats) 😊 Maybe I should try to get him to join MKAL2022 🤔😀.

I recently made something that had to have 2 pieces the same and I thought I would not forget what I did. I had to undo 5 times to get the second to be like the first. Notes who knew?

The problem with socks is that you have to knit two of them! I used to knit a lot of socks. It was about a 3 year phase. Now, I knit shawls almost exclusively.

I used to knit almost only shawls, but now I always have socks on the go and have no problem in making two. Aaaand, you can always wear socks that dont match! That way, you can just knit one of each ;)

2022 MKAL should be the Symphony Shawl!

Sorry, but we did not have mic's on hand (and I do not own one). The sound is fine here, both on my computer and with headphones.

If socks are to restrictive for Steve, how about knitting leg warmers? Seems like a dancers dream?

Ahhh, if you knit the sock toe up, there is a lot room for unplanned wonders. Who knows how to shape the cuff? Standard, for boots, tight, wide, new pattern, long, sneaker,… 😎 No one says it have to be a ribbed cuff all the time.

True, to each their own. I have done one toe up sock but was not very happy with it. I like doing them top down and usually knit them with dpn's :)

just dont knit the same sock twice. why do socks have to match??? THEY DONT HAVE TO MATCH AT ALL

Stephen, join summer sock camp, with Kay, and make 3 pairs in a row, cuff down, I find toe up scary, last year I decided I would conquer socks! I bet you would like toe up! They intimidate me, summer lee socks! She loves colour, and magic loop!
