Hello Linda! I’m making the Rain or Shine socks and happy to have your tutorial to look at. It’s early spring in Oregon with alternating rain/shine all day long. Watching the eruptions in Iceland. So sorry! ❤

I love, love your enthusiasm for the marled magic sweater - I am inspired to make one now, again! I started on a sweater a while back, but it started to look so big, that I bound off as a marled magic shawl instead. But now, I want a proper mm sweater!

It is my favorite project to date. Have made two and want to make a third one, just still looking for the perfect yarn and color combo.

somehow i missed this update when it was posted -- hope it hasn't been too chilly in the east, if you are still there! if you decide to venture as far as the Westfjords for your camping trip in august, you're welcome to stop by or meet for coffee here (I'm in Dýrafjörður) -- and looking forward to following your adventures regardless! i'm thinking of making a second Mynstur, too -- my first one is so cozy, but definitely more on the subdued side, color-wise!

For the cowl: do you choose all the colors up front, or choose as you go? What is level of difficulty? Can you do a tutorial on how you do stranded color work, or tips on tension, etc. I learned sock knitting from you and you are a wonderful teacher. Big love from Chicago!

Hi! These were a limited edition that I got years ago at the Reykjavík City Yarn Crawl. They were made by Dagga in Litla Prjónabúðin and her husband. Only a few were made and I was lucky enough to get some. They are really amazing and I am very lucky to have those. I can ask Dagga if they plan on making more, but I don't think they will.

  • @andreamiller6200
    @andreamiller620010 ай бұрын

@ if Dagga does decide to make more, will you be able to announce it (United States buyer)? I love knitting socks on DPNs and noticed what look like beautiful Signature needles, do you recall the mm size you were using for these pretty striped vanilla socks? I came to your excellent tutorial from Stephen West and I appreciated it so much. Just returned from an amazing trip to Scandinavia Sept-Oct 2023 with Arne and Carlos which included Akureyri and Husavik in Iceland among other enchanted places and my heart remains warm from this colder land and my knitting is energized from it, too ❤

Love all your color choices! Beautiful! You said in a different podcast that you knit 2-3 hours a day. When do you do that? I’m also a Mom with many animals and I am lucky if I find 30 mins to knit. Do you have any secrets other than less sleep and lots of coffee? 🙃🙃

  • Жыл бұрын

Well... I try to bring my knitting with my everywhere. I knit on my coffee break at work, I knit while I cook and I knit while watching TV in the evenings. On the weekends I sometimes knit more, and then there are days where I dont knit at all, but they are rare. So on average, I think I manage about 2-3 hours a day.

Your explanation of how you choose color unfortunately doesn’t help me. I am so not an artsy person with the ability to see color in my mind. LOL. I know the color wheel helps me. I learned that scrappy projects need the same weight throughout, but don’t need the same exact fiber. I’m glad you are feeling better, but sorry your outside work has been challenging. Hang in there.

  • Жыл бұрын

Yeah, I know. I never use a color wheel or anything like that, I just go with my feelings and what I think works together and it is really hard to explain as it is something that I just see in my head very clearly. I also see a lot of color in music and people. Each person has their color to me.

So happy to see you! I enjoy your videos very much. I also hand wash my knits. It just feels good to do that, literally - I love the feel! I was tickled to watch your project bag video. And yes color choosing would be great. I have at least 2 large projects that really need to be frogged! I don’t like the colors at all. You’ve given me encouragement to do that and use the yarns for something else. I’ll be watching your Q&A next. Oh. And I sure hope I can access Kofi (?) for USA.

For me, I hare knitting sleeves. It's why I like knitting garments in pieces. I can knit my sleeves first (and use them as swatches) before starting on the body of the garment. Knitting in the round, especially top down as that's my preference, means my sleeves are usually last. So by the time I knit the body and start on the sleeves, I'm over it and want to start a new garment.

I too prefer to be a plain stitch knitter that plays with colour, rather than a plain colour knitter that plays with stitches. Even though I do both. I've made a lot of vanilla socks and most are 64 stitches on 2mm needles. My favourite being scrappy socks.

Your No Frills is absolutely stunning! It reminds me in liquid gold with how it is glowing <3 I saw your WIP video from yesterday last night right before bed and I kep thinking "if Linda picked my color palettes for all my projects, I'd never be unhappy" - they're all super pretty and the colors all go with my personal preferences. Maybe I should have gone with the same kit you are using for the MKAL then, because as it is I have 2 options and can't decide.

I enjoyed hearing you tell about your color sense and the spice rack. I love the colors you choose for most everything anyway. I usually go for the blues, greens, purples and grays but not sure what pop of color would be great with them. No particular project in mind, I just seem to lean in that direction. Nice seeing you and I hope you are feeling back to yourself soon😊

Thank you for showing us your WIPs and colour choices/combinations. What is working and what is not. Your colours are always marvellous. If I were Stephen I'd be saying frog that project to use the yarn in something new. If it's been there so long you're surely both "over it" by now. I'm sure it wouldn't go to waste when it again becomes a stash option. I too have a sweater that is too short. I find a lot of patterns on the too cropped side these days. I prefer to cover my lower back (and why do things tend to seem longer when one is looking at the knitting than they actually are when tried on?) However, I don't like frogging even if I decide something needs frogging so it is sitting there waiting atm. Waiting as I have a family member who likes fiddling and doing those undoings, so when this person next visits me it will be my ideal opportunity to say "Can you undo this project so I can repurpose the yarn, and can you take this project back to this point for me?" and they will happily get to it. I love the "Why am I not working on that?" A project not looked at for some time can become inspiring again. I've had a serious case of Cast-on-itis lately. I've been trying to restrain from casting on new things given my plans this month, but you are giving me permission to indulge even if things will take longer or be side-tracked in the meantime. Why limit myself? To be fair, I've just finished a project, am about to finish another in the next couple of days and only have 4 WIPs. I should allow myself more choices. One of my WIPs is a Fantastitch project. I LOVE your colours. Mine is just scraps. I like scrappy projects too. I probably have the least amount of scraps I've had in a while at this point lol. I also do not like knitting cables. I like the look but not the knitting. I did finish my second cable sock though, and you are doing the MKAL test knitting. Does that not have cabling? My anxiety is high over that. Yet you are getting it done. Looking forward to seeing the project progression in future videos. :)
