Fun interview…ready for the MKAL!!!

I’m so glad you both are doing this! I followed Martyn Last fall (such an inspiration) Was so fun & this year will be even better! This is the 1st year I splurged on a kit, and I think in the long run it was less expensive then me buying the yarn on my own! Thank you both !! Oh & YES to the ZOOM!!

I’d love it if both of you recorded your thoughts on your yarn color choices. Like Martyn, I’m just not too sure when it comes to that. Also, weekly updates of your progress in a video just like this. The two of you are just fantastic together!

You guys are so funny!!! Like star struck teenagers. I can see this is going to be lots of fun.

I've just signed up for my first ever MKAL! I'm so excited! And I've put together my yarn choices too - main and contrast colours from stash (Holst Garn), and I've treated myself to a gorgeous 'special skein' from Attic Spin Dye (on Etsy) for the accent colour. I've gone for a colour palette that's a bit out of my usual range - I actually LOVE colour, and putting together combos is one of my favourite aspects of knitting. So happy to be going on this Magical Mystery Tour with all you guys - especially as it starts just before my birthday. As for what I'd like to see from this collaboration, I echo others in saying that I'd LOVE to get together on Zoom sometime. As a chronically ill and disabled person one of the major positives about knitting for me is that it enables me to practise a craft from home, and getting together with fellow knitters from around the world online is the icing on the cake! Big love and best of luck to all my fellow MKAL-ers!

How exciting can’t wait for this KAL. I won’t be doing it because I started it last year and gave up mainly and I’m not sure I can say this but I didn’t like it, and I just could keep up so have decided to see what the shawl is like it before I decide. I just love the other shawls he has done in the past. Hope you will be doing it on you tube ❤️

Thanks. Love this. I reply to Martyn and he never even likes my comments, sigh. Cant wait. My yarns are sitting and waiting for the clue. I shopped stash and only bought the bag, tag and sticker, cables and needle. Don’t need the needle but had to get it to ensure I had the correct sized cable needles. Ill be watching and knitting along.

I am going to pick my own colors this year. Every year I pick my own colors because if I buy a kit I know that at least someone else has the same shawl as me. But if I were to buy a kit my favorite kit was the raspberry sunshine kit. I will however order the sew on tag.

I am so excited to follow this MKAL with you both! This will be my second year so I only have one other under my belt but I do want to make the Starflake also someday. After seeing the kits yesterday, I dove into my stash and came up with two possible combos. I’ll be pondering which I should choose till the very last minute probably. I really love them both. I would prefer KZread to instagram or Ravelry but will be there no matter which you choose. Can’t wait!

I love this collaboration! It makes the mkal even more fun! Last year I knitted shawlography entirely from stash and I loved picking colours, but I’m struggling to find something I like from stash this year because you need 200g of 2 of the colours 🤔

Thanks for the encouragement about WIPs! Some, if sort of a perfectionist, give you grief about "never finishing" a WIP. But, I think it's just a part of a creative minds function. I planned to start the Sharon Air MKAL. Then agreed to do a test knit. My deadline is the 30th. Hope it's done before the first clue!

I have 1 Knit WIP that is going slow since I am adding beads (so many beads) and technically 2 Crochet WIPs. I have been excited for the Hyberknitalong because I discovered Westknits last year during that time and couldn’t figure out when his MKAL was. I am really excited for the adventure of a MKAL since I’ve never done one! I will have to buy yarn, don’t have the stash for this, and really love the curry Leaves color way. German short rows are great! I’ve only used them on one project but even easier that wrap and turns. I will be following you while I do my own.

Martyn, you must tell Mark about the «sweater curse» This is the old thinking that if you knit a sweater to the one you love, before you are married, the relationship will end😳 Let him google it, and maybe he will let you use all the time in the world on that sweater😂

I was really trying to avoid doing the knit along. This isn’t helping😂😂 It sounds like so much fun! my vote would be not in a ravelry group I prefer Instagram or you tube. Hopefully I can choose my colors better than I did last year. I need a budget option for yarn so probably won’t be getting a kit. Irina the way you feel about mystery installments is the way I feel about book series. I hate finishing a book knowing I have to wait months to years for the next book to come out.

I'm in Phoenix, Arizona and I'm not familiar with the DK and fingering weight yarns. So how do you choose a yarn kit? Do you start by choosing the yarn brand and then the color?
