I show you how to fix a kitchen range vent hood controller which is giving trouble where the fan and light controls are not working properly.
The fault is that you cannot turn on the light and the exhaust fan at the same time as the range hood turns itself off.
Sometimes it will beep twice when a button is pushed as it turns off immediately after pressing the button, or the light will come on for a second then turn off etc.

Ahh Wallaby Ted's brother! :) Make sure the resistors arent getting hot, the relay works, and the diodes arent knackered. Job good mate!

I think you need to clean those filters they’re pretty bad Then see where it’s venting if it’s venting outside and see if the vent is stuck or open
An old unit for sure, real screws holding things together. Nice repair! Probably should have done it sooner - happy wife = happy life!
Great video. I have a GE monogram range hood with similar problems : the 4 light buttons don’t work. On the same panel the fan buttons work. How do I trouble shoot this? They (GE) no longer make replacement controller boards
Have you checked the caps in the LED driver module while you're at it?

Mine makes a humming sound and the fan doesn't turn. Any idea how I can fix it?
But those capacitors were such a good quality, how could they fail lol :-D. If that microchip dies, im sure ordinary logic would work as well.

Most common here is a block with 2 switches in it, pretty reliable, and absolutely no electronics in it at all, with zero standby current.
My hood is similar. Only the light button doesn’t work. Just dead my electrician can fix it. Where can I get a new panel?

I actually did a second repair on this unit late last year where it wouldn't turn on things correctly, in that case the 78L05 regulator was bad (it can be seen at the top centre of the PCB @5.50)
Not Motorola, its Microchip. It's a PIC.
