This is 3 years after this video, i just changed my light bulbs of my 1997 4Runner, and they came just like the original bulb, did not have the hanging plug, maybe your time of this video you could only get your style LED bulbs , very easy to change, good as always design from Toyota company.
My led headlights were similar to these. But I actually found a way to not have to modify the rubber boot. Detach the plastic piece with the 3 legs that mounts the bulb onto the headlight, put the lightbulb through the rubber boot, then reattach the plastic piece with 3 legs back on the bulb. Flip the boot backwards, place the bulb and the retainer wire, then flip the boot forward to protect the bulb. No need to modify the rubber boot. 👍🏻

Good job. Have to try that next time.
The led bulb should be a 2-piece...you could basically twist it, and then pull back. The H4 socket should stay in the Headlight housing. Put back the rubber boot from the back, and put back the led bulb. Hope it helps...

So, should be no need to modify the boot?

@@TheRealJonsMind no…the bulb itself should be 2 piece…just twist it loose

be sure to check out my current video on lights. kzread.info/dash/bejne/jICA2qpmXbTaacY.html
Will the fan still do it's function of cooling the light with the rubber boot in the way? does the fan actually have to blow on the light, or does it go through the light? Thanks - I know nothing..
How they holding up? My gen 3 is a 98 and lights are far too dim, cant decide if its worth the 500 dollar teq light housing kit or not..
What front bumper is that, is that a sr5 bumper with limited fender flares?
For the turn signal ones you need to add a led resistor
What lights did you use for the headlights? Also, how does the pattern look? I’ve had trouble getting a good lighting pattern.

You can’t get a good pattern with the non clear lenses you have to upgrade them to the 1999 and up headlights
I need to do this to mine. The current stock setup absolutely sucks
You need a led flasher Or resistor they have them at oreilys Or Auto zone
what exact size led bulb did you get for the corner lights

Were you able to find which one?
Did the high beam worked after installing the led headlight? Mine did not. But it works if I install my old halogen light on one side and the led light on the other, the high beam worked no issues. Off course I did not leave it like that, I just wonder if it worked on your truck.

Most LEDs dont have a high beam function
For your turn signals you need to add a resistor or LED Flasher

how come? what's it for?
@chavakano54
3 жыл бұрын
@@renevillafuerte34 standard flashers are designed to warn when they sense an open circuit (burnt filament of turn signal bulb) , and that's precisely what it senses when you install LED bulbs, so either you mimic the filaments resistance by adding a resistor or (what I did) you swap the flasher for an LED designed one.
Do you get any flashes by oncoming drivers because the headlights are blinding them?

I have the same exact lights and yes they are really blinding. I've aimed them lower than normal and it seems to help with blinding other drivers. FYI 99 lifted 4RUNNER so aimed down is a must anyway

Led upgrades H4 bulbs you can't make that rubber boot to fit, it's a bad design since moisture will make it's way in the housing
Thank you so much for your helpful videos man! What type did you get for the fog lights? Thanks.

Thank you. I ended up with a generic H1 led bulb. Not super bright but they do the job. I have a bumper build coming soon and I'll be swapping them out.

tbh, why you hating on the stock yellow, its goes with the generation imo, white doesn't match the car at all.

@Beacon_Offroad or you could be an intelligent, respectful human being and run led lightbulbs through projection housings and end up with a better focused light that shines further down the road and doesn't blind people. Sorry you're instructing everyone how to be cheap and lazy with no regard for safety.
