I've been working on Toyotas for 16 years and my favorite thing they do is make a simple clip with so much complexity that you have to take out a handful of them before you figure out how they work, and all they can muster in their repair manual is "Remove 12 clips and 2 bolts."

I also love to salvage all my clips, screws and usable parts from the old part before discarding it. If you love to keep your automobiles for a long time, it's nice to have these obsolete parts on hand if you ever need them. You need to think ahead when you own older vehicles. Great video.

My 1998 Nissan Frontier had the same push-tabs for the grill - which I also had to remove for headlight lenses and lamps. In the 17 years I had the truck I gave up and mounted the grill with black zip-ties. When I had to change a light bulb?... cut them and replace!

Have a 2001 4-Runner been through 3 sets of headlights over the years. Glass headlights are great because they do not oxidize like plastic headlights, but like Faye's they crack when hit by rocks. When I installed the last set of new headlights I got the clear headlight protective film from Weather tech. The film is crystal clear and cut to fit perfectly, so I believe they will be the last set of headlights in my 4-Runner. Bonus the kit comes with protective film for all of the lights on the front end, turn signal, side marker, and fog lights.

I just inherited a '98 3rd Gen 4Runner, so i've been looking to fix some of these very things you cover in such great detail and simplicity. You are very helpful, Faye and give me a lot of ideas and insight. I've been junkyard diving for some replacement Enkei center caps - apparently the 3rd Gen ones are super rare and hard to find for any one - and the aftermarket Toyota center caps do not fit... i've tried and returned two different sets. Any ideas or good replacements that you can think of? Or any way to mod the OEM or aftermarket versions? The Enkei wheels are in great shape, just need the center caps to make them really pop. Now that I think about it, the original owner probably sold those center caps for $200 a piece on Ebay :|

Yes I'm really disappointed ☹️ i'm trying to embrace it as a throwback to the old 4cyl 22re pickups... But alas.

@@FayeHadley maybe Toyota will make the internal stronger to hold up to the pressure of the turbo? Also if they use port and direct injection they won't have to worry about the valves
