dance al gore. good info
And now we know. Thanks 👍
Most likely it is a low voltage wire that when cut disables/disengages an energized coil that actuates high voltage contactor points, kinda like a relay.
This is why faye is the best.. I needed to know this kind of info just in case it ever happens to my car.
Shhhhhhhh!! Let Darwin do his Thang.😂😂😂
👍
Cool beans 🫘
Good tip Faye! Thanks for posting.
A comment for the algorithm
According to Tesls "When the vehicle has been in an accident and the First Responder Loop has been cut, always treat the pack and the high voltage components as if they are live, because the pack will still have stored energy within the cells and it is not known if other high voltage components have been damaged. Treat every orange cable and battery pack as if there is high voltage in it."
Most firefighters do know this, we have classes on EVs
That's so reassuring! I have been informed of the same thing on TikTok. I think it's a regional issue, because it's not common knowledge in my area from the folks I've talked to at the training center!
Good to know.
Thanks faye love the tips that you bring to us keep being awesome girl ❤❤❤
Thank you, Faye.
It is a BATTERY DISCONNECT! 😁👍👍🇺🇸
🤔i thought that was where you check to see if the battery is good like licking a volt 😉
Thanks for putting the info out there. I may use this on someone else’s vehicle in an emergency.
Lol iknow this is probly a mechanic sin but i reused torque to yeild cam sprocket bolts on my ecotec when i had to replace the timing tensioner, but aye that mf ran like a champ even gassin it once ina while. Untill somone wrecked my car while it was parked 🫡
Thiccc one is cute
Faye thank you so so much! You saved me over $800 through this video! I was able to follow along and replace my water pump! Thank you, again!
Ahhh YAAAYY!!!!!!! 😄👏🏻
The roof spoiler/3rd brake light on 2019+ Silverados is held in place by a different kind of single use nut. They come with a bead of sealant on them that looks like grey rtv.
Whats the torque rating on that impact?
Your a beautiful lady screw those people and aswome to see a woman tech one tech to another
How on Earth is someone supposed to deduce that? Without being told you couldn’t work it out as they look like standard flanged bolts. Plus they can’t be doing anything more than sealing really, they’re plastically deforming not setting extra tension. You probably CAN reuse them with no ill effects.
Or break-away type nuts, where once it hits torque, the hex portion snaps off. Then you have to cut or chisel them off if you need to remove them. Never seen them in automotive, but in aviation. Also street light bases for some reason.😂
And what's wrong with using them again, isn't that just a nut and a washer
Manufacture selling parts , old style bolt and nut could be used over and over
You are a great person....love watching you help people and learning us keep it simple also...cool chick my friend... always humble but you need credit all hard work you do...God bless you today and everyday.
Thanks so much!!😄
Going to school, that's good.
I love you Faye.
Faye, you so cute and smart!
If it ain't a comeback, you good girl 😅
Today i learned!!!
Your instructions are way better than even Toyota Time with Timmy
You have a nice voice be careful with all those chemicals.
I couldn’t stop staring at the supercharger..
Any consequences to reusing the nuts that you saw since you have been reusing them for awhile
The originals will still hold until thr cars junked and rusted through.
I do to, but with blue loctite now.
I never knew this either, I've always re-used them, and heck I'm about to re-use another right now🤣 BTW, your hair looks awesome, Faye🤘👍
We’ll I learned something today! Thanks for that. Is that the Gasoline Forever shirt with the Crusher Camaro on the back? If so, I’m wearing the same one right now 😎
I had a Torx stud that I was trying to remove from my 3GR-FSE engine yesterday... I didn't have a Torx Socket so I used the 2 x nut hack to try and get the stud out... As I wrenched away to tighten the inner nut against the outer nut so I could turn the stud out anti CW... The inner nut just kept turning and turning.. I thought I was stripping the stud, or deforming the nut. Thanks Faye. Now I know it was a one-time use nut.
But when you tighten the old one again it will still be flat against the surface right? So why throw them away?
thank You great vid, need to bring my car by you would have about 5 great vids to do on it alone lol
Arrest her at once. She admits to the crime.
Wow! I had no idea. Thank you for sharing.
I found out because when you look at parts diagrams in service manuals, they indicate which nuts and bolts are "do not reuse."
This is my issue with car dealerships though. Any time you get service done to your car, you pay a lot of money for someone who is stressed for time, mad and sometimes uninformed/untrained to take components of your car apart and put them back together.
My bigger question is why??? If you're going to bother to have something manufactured why make it a one-time use item????
I'll confess, I reused torque to stretch bolts on my old Volkswagen Passatt many times. Never had a problem and I put 450,000 miles on that car.
