To the people dogging on the form, this is not a good form competition. Can you imagine if all the judges out there were looking for propper lat engagement in the pullup? One, that is subjective as hell. Two, that would be lame to watch. Rogue tried to make the movement standards as objective as possible. Is their chin above the bar? Are the knees locked out in the deadlift? These simple movement standards are easy to assess for the judges and also easily understood by athletes and viewers.

Am I the only one to notice Medeiros didn’t get 1 “No Rep” for those almost-chin ups??

They were definitely borderline, but for the most part they didn't give no reps for borderline stuff at Rogue, although I did notice a couple other athletes getting no-reps on this workout

I dont really understand the pullup exercise. You can just jump as high as you can and then pull alittle, but then we have chancler smith who basically is doing a strict pullup. Can anyone who actually knows about the sport explain whats happening here?

I never seen an event like this, looks tough. Though most of the burpee pull-ups are not full pull-ups, more like a 1/4 pullup.. still looks pretty hard.

In theory a burpee is with a jump, so I think this is what it should look like. (and I completely agree on that it looks like a tough workout)

They should have to start each pull-up from a hanging position with straight arms. Allowing them to jump into the pull-up makes it unfair as some just way higher

The guys that don't bounce the deadlifts or use their legs on pull-ups are getting crushed. Pays to know the rules.

I don't think I saw one pushup with good form, or pull up for that matter.

@@joshuabastian8968 considering that there were no push-ups in this event, I would be surprised if you saw one. And I didn’t realize you were the authority on what constitutes a proper pull-up. It’s an honor to meet you.

@@spencergsmith It's lovely to meet you as well! Yeah proper pushup/pullup form is actually pretty common knowledge. But I get it, this sport is not about form it's all about the reps and the extremely high fitness requirement. Keep loving your sport buddy and don't mind me

@@joshuabastian8968 it's a competition, so it's about who can meet the standards and accomplish the most amount of work in the least amount of time. Yes, there will be some cutting corners to beat their opponents as long as it's allowed, but this doesn't mean they don't TRAIN with good form back in their home gyms. Also, just because you know one way to do a "proper" pull-up doesn't mean it's the ONLY way to do a proper pull-up. I do strict, kipping, butterfly, and even weight pull-ups. I also would disagree that proper push-up and pull-up form is common knowledge. I've seen MANY people, CrossFit or not, perform them with poor technique. Like I said, in a competition, they primarily look for range of motion, so in a burpee pull-up, moving from chest on the ground to chin over the bar is the main standard, and judges are typically very strict with this. You may not do them this way, but that doesn't negate their value to fitness. Just set a clock and do as many of these as you can in 5 minutes, then come back and tell me they aren't beneficial. Also, there were no push-ups programmed in this workout. Those are burpees. They are a different movement entirely.

No pull up was done that day! That form looks horrible! And the deadlifts are a joke as well, educational job of yours is weak, people have to know that what is presented here is bs!
