Complete coverage of Event 5 of the Women's Individual competition at the 2021 Rogue Invitational, from Dell Diamond in Round Rock, Texas (Saturday, October 30). The Mule, which was part of the first Rogue Invitational in 2019, returns for 2021, featuring a 21-15-9 rep breakdown of deadlifts (225 LBS) and burpee pull-ups. Tia Toomey came into this final event of Day 2 with a 10-point lead over Annie Thorisdottir, but Iceland Annie continues to assert herself in an amazing comeback year, making a bold statement with her second event win of the weekend.

    Burpee pull ups. The intended stimulus is more on the legs and lungs in my experience.

    It makes no sense that some athletes are allowed chin-ups instead of pull-ups. The inconsistency in judging what counts as a rep and what doesn't needs to be cleaned up massively. There's a reason people struggle to respect this. How are you meant to when even the judges don't...

    @@williamhufnagel8790 I've been a powerlifter in the 105kg class for 15 years now. I suck at pull-ups, but I can do about 14 pullups with PROPER form.

    @@Mike_858 I guarantee these women can also. Why judge them on the events that others schedule? The negativity just gets old. Most of these comments are made by people whose parents failed them by never teaching then that if they don't have anything positive to say they should say nothing at all. Good for you for being able to do proper pullups. The USMC has 1000s of soldiers who can, and in almost any gym you can find multiple people who can. Can they complete with these athletes? If they could they would be out there with them. I for one can't devote that amount of time to working out or I would try, but that's not realistic with a full time job and other responsibilities... The truth of the matter is they train harder and more frequently than 99.999% of other people or they wouldn't be able to consistently compete in multiple events over multiple days and still be competitive.

    I figured it would happen to her, you can't give 100% to more than one thing, she has developed her clothesline more and more and you could see in her latest pictures the muscle definition wasn't there as before. Unless she brought up an "injury"

    I think if they just renamed the exercises there would not be much fuss about it. Deadlift could be Barbell bounces and the pullup could be flapping around bar hangs. The burpees they can keep as is, no one wants to actually do those except crossfitters.
