I'm a swimmer but hit the gym weekly and I gotta say I have all the respect for every competitor in this event.. I mean 10 rounds of 50m swim + 3x muscle ups is a pretty tough workout. This event is definitely not preferred for those who don't swim regularly and just completing it is an achievement. Good job to all who pushed thru and congrats to Troyan.

+JustSomeone For those saying that 'elite' athletes should be better at swimming, possibly, but for 1 out of 12 events, when it's not their sport, they handled it pretty well. Of course most of these guys aren't good swimmers; they have to be able to perform a whole bunch of different events over the next four days. Sure, someone with a swimming background would probably win this event (assuming they could do the muscle-ups), but would they be able to do the rest of this stuff packed into a few days, to the intensity these guys do? Not likely. This tends to happen on every CrossFit Games video involving a highly specialized sport/skill...invariably, someone who specializes in the particular sport/skill being tested in that one event comments on how pathetic the performances are in (Skill X) for supposedly elite athletes. The amount of different skills these guys have to take on is astounding - of course they're not going to master them all. Fine, a competitive swimmer could probably own this event...and then would probably be eliminated from the games a couple days later on the clean-and-jerk ladder (relevant: event 8 of the 2013 games was a clean-and-jerk ladder with the lightest allowable starting weight of 225 pounds, and if you could not complete the first weight, you were out of the games). Of course, if it's so easy, you're free to enter the games. $250K prize. You should clean up, right?

I also could have dominated if I were better at swimming and muscle ups than all the competitors.

There is a difference between a swimmer and crossfitter. a swimmer swims. crossfitter doesnt. plus they have to do muscle ups when they come back.

I think it's hilarious how everyone commenting on their swimming. Of course they're gonna swim like shit, they're not professional swimmers. Go do a full workout of weights, calisthenics, and then swim. I guarantee 99.9% of you couldn't even lift your gawdamn arms to stroke.

Ezrael Comicho I kinda want you to do what swimmers do everyday for hours, I'm willing to bet that by cool down we feel the same way these guys do after they work out. For most we can still at least keep good form even if the strength has leached out.

Lol I love this comment because we run 1.5 miles then we lift for an hour and then we swim for 2 hours 4 days a week. So I know exactly how this feels especially when we max out
