14 YO Uses FBI Skills to Manipulate Cherry Hill Serial Killer | The Case of Jennifer Wertz

“I think I got mom’s blood on me.”
On February 22th 1991, Dede Rosenthal disappeared from her Cherry Hill apartment: there’s no signs of any disturbance, and the case grew cold, but no one ever expected that only 4 years later, another crime took place but this time, to Dede’s neighbor. However, 14 year old Jennifer Wertz survived the night, and would become the key to the mystery of Dede’s story.

I've never been able to understand this! And it happens more than people realize. The only explanation that I can understand is that denial is a very powerful thing. They (the mother in this case) just can't cope and doesn't know how to escape the psycho, so they just deny the allegations made by her own daughter. So tragic. I like to think today things are different. She could probably go to a school counselor and they'd immediately take action.

@@MrPernell27Considering how often abusive men are abusing children in the home, it should have been an automatic thing. Period. If children are ignored by the authorities when they speak up, then how is it solely the fault of the parents? Literally everyone in her life who encountered any of them during that time is responsible for not getting her out. Too many people knew what my father was doing and he was left to brutalize us for 7 years because of the conservative Christian culture of "give it to God," until attention about it was forced because he impregnated his 12-year-old stepdaughter. Everyone in our lives failed us by never contacting the authorities, and the authorities failed us every time they released my father on good behavior after his 12 DUI's and giving him custody of his daughters every summer.

Rule #1 in a abusive relationship: YOU NEVER TELL ABUSER YOUR LEAVING!!!! ABUSERS WILL DO AND SAY ANYTHING(gaslighting) TO KEEP YOU FROM LEAVING. Rule #2) NEVER TELL ABUSERS WHERE YOU ARE AFTER LEAVING. Many women have to use womens abuse shelter resources to leave their abuser because they have laws, rules, and resources to make sure abuser cannot get to victims. They even have abuse victim safe houses/apartments for women with children. They have counseling services for the victims to keep victims from going back to abuser. Years of gaslighting causes victims to believe the gaslighting lies. It usually takes victims 3xs of leaving to stay away from abuser for good. It took me 4xs. I grabbed my 2 kids(abuser is the father) and we left with only the clothes on our backs, diaper bag, kids blankies, and shoes on our feet. It’s been 13 years and my kids haven’t seen their father in 13 years. I’ve seen and read more then a few comments: **SO PLEASE DO NOT VICTIM BLAME IF YOU HAVEN’T BEEN IN A ABUSIVE RELATIONSHIP BEFORE!!!!!

The mother was more than likely abused to the point where she was made to believe she couldn't survive without this man. DV cases are very complicated because it is hard to break the cycle. Once someone believes they can't live without their abuser or that they are nothing without their abuser, its very unlikely they will leave, even when their children are at risk. Her mother wasn't in a healthy state of mind so thats why she didn't receive or acknowledge the news of her daughter's abuse. I do feel bad for the mother because I've been in a DV situation and it is very very hard to break the cycle without the proper support. I'm sure in the beginning of the relationship there were red flags but she ignored them. It's unfortunate that she, and her daughter, had to pay for her over looking those red flags.

Jennifer's story is the most inspirational about persevering and redeeming that I've ever encountered. I had forgotten about this but '90s videos reminded me, and it was important to me at the time; now I feel all my holes in my education are filled with this video and specifically with this channel. What a great ❤️ feeling of hope with her family story Jennifer has started to create, learn and move forward from her on her experiences. She inspires others by being honest and exposing her pain and experiences, which were unimaginable, yet she shares for others benefits and possible future warnings. Bravo.😢

I'm fully aware abused women feel trapped and are mentally manipulated but I still can't sympathize with Rebecca since she knew her daughter was being abused and molested and took the psycho's side. It's her job to protect her daughter at all costs. Also they had a chance to quietly get away and Rebecca, for some reason that defies all logic, TOLD HIM they were going to leave. That moronic decision is what ultimately sealed her own fate and got her daughter assaulted / tortured yet again and almost murdered. There's no excuse.

I hope people in these comments understand it's not so simple to escape an abuser. and in fact, the abuse gets worse and victims are most likely to die when they attempt to leave/just after leaving. her mom denying the abuse to her at 7 could have been her being unable to admit she'd brought a predator into her home and failed her child, or it could have been her attempt at stopping this child from angering him and making it worse. and we don't know if the day he killed her, if she told him they were leaving or if he simply found out. no one said. but the fog you're put under when you're being manipulated and abused, as well as the threat of death if you anger the abuser by leaving is a hard thing to escape. yes, she could have done more to save herself and her child, but she's still a victim.

@@leighleigh8725 yep. people forget that about 1 in 6 cops is a domestic abuser. men in general care very little for women's lives and cops are no different. there's a reason people say restraining orders are just documentation for who the cops need to look for once they find your body. IF they find your body. because that's all that little piece of paper can do for you, and the only time the cops are actually willing to get off their ass and do their job. recently an elderly bedridden women who's husband was her caretaker got into a fight. he told her she had to leave and threatened to kill her if she didn't. he called the cops himself, gave her the phone, and she told them to come get her bc she didn't feel safe. cops came out, he admitted to what he'd said on body cam, they asked him if he had any guns, said he did, cop said he liked people who are armed (ON BODY CAM) and told her a place would be made ready for her by the END OF THE WEEK at a care facility. she begged one of the officers to stay with her or take her to a hotel or something, they refused and left. he shot her dead. neighbors called cops, and he blamed them for "not getting her out of his house" like he wanted. cops claimed they "didn't think he was serious". that's how little her life was worth to them. yes, she was old and disabled, but that doesn't mean she wasn't worth protecting. that she deserved to die alone and scared. to have the last of her life stolen from her because a man was mad at her. they had ample chance to save that woman, and preferred to be lazy and bet her life on someone they already admitted to liking, wasn't really being serious, even when he himself said otherwise. it's terrible this mother and daughter suffered so terribly, but there was no promise they'd be safe if they asked for help or did leave as planned. cops could not have been trusted to keep them safe. and until you're in that situation you cannot truly say what you would do. it's easy to talk shit when your life isn't the one actually in danger.

These days watching, listening, learning and suffering for all the victims of these horrific crimes is literally all that I do. As frustrating as it is, it's to prevent people from being forced to confess to a crime they didn't commit. I'd say it also prevents weirdos from trying to "take credit" for other people's crimes.

Early squad lets gooo! Love these videos! They have hopeful endings and I prefer those over "but no one was found" or "the culprit was never brought to justice"

Never bring WOLVES around your lambs. Mom is at fault here. Single Moms .... you had your chance. It is now your DUTY to focus on your children and remain single. At least until your children are no longer minors, are launched and independent. Then you can do any stupid thing you want to with your love life. DO YOUR DUTY FIRST.

Rebecca ... so many bad decisions. I usually feel bad for the victims, but she won't have it. 7 years of abuse being ignored, telling him they will leave him, refusing to leave when her daughter asked her while the crazy man is out of their home, she ignored her daughter, she ignored the red flags, she even GAVE HIM AN ALIBI FOR DEDE'S DISAPPEARANCE, if she didn't protect him there was a chance for him to be catch back then and Dede's body never been lost. I'm sorry Rebecca, but such moms should not exist, a woman who pick a man who abuse her children over their own children doesn't deserve children at all. Poor Dede and poor Jennifer.

I can and never will understand a woman staying with a man thats abusing their children. Especially if ur own child is telling u these horrible things how can u not believe them? I'd rather my children safe than hurt. At the very least investigate into it to see if it's true. I do understand some kids lid for attention but as a parent u have to do any and everything to protect them. It's a shame 😔

But when the Janitor was interviewed by police over the neighbor missing he said "he liked her" in the past tense. I think at this time she was only missing, would have been a red flag for me.

Yo... this case definitely caught me off guard. Im from New Jersey but more on the Manhattan side... ive always heard of Cherry Hilll. Never been but its always had a good rep. Supposedly a nice suburb .... ive never heard of this case.... a serial killer in Jersey?? .. wild. Fortunately the daughter appears to be a strong woman after that experience as a young girl

Parents like this mom are the reason why some killers have a body count, and why some kids are afraid to talk to their parents.

Time and time again, mothers choose lovers over the welfare of their children. Then, when they eventually find the courage to tell her that they've been sexually abused by him the mother invariably gaslights them. So much for motherly love. Jennifer was an incredibly brave and smart girl to outwit this monster. She also has a beautiful soul for forgiving her mother who repeatedly failed to protect her. I just wonder how many other victims of this swamp creature are out there. So glad they finally caught this POS.
