We should stick to one-shot groups all the time. They're always the smallest, and small groups are more fun than big groups. Lol. Glad you didn't launch yourself into orbit!

Surprised. Never blown a primer in 30+ years of shooting & reloading. There was a slight crater sign on the 42.6 shots but nothing alarming. Primers looked fine over all. I would run 5 @ 42.3 or 42.4 and see what you get. But maybe there is a different variable to consider. This is not a crazy powder. Glad things weren't bad.

Yup. Had primer blow outs with jag brass and 120g ballistic tips and h4350. Was still well under max for book and blew primers. Loaded up 140g and my normal load on that brass and no issues... and that load is hotter then the load that blew primers your guess is as good as mine.

please do this exact bullet with H4350

If these are the #4330 Sierra projectiles and if your case volume is indeed 52.9 gr. H2O, QL had your 43 grain charge at 2883 fps with 53,886 psi. If I lower the case volume to 49.5 grains it matches your velocity with 62,832 psi, which is just about max pressure but not over. The difference in these two volumes is about the volume of four drops of water! At this rate, I should also be inputting the *exact* case length. .020" of 6.5mm case neck holds 1.6 grains of water.

I have to imagine I just have a lot of r17 that is a little faster than most. I can't see any other logical reason we saw so much pressure and excess velocity

Nosler brass is pretty thick, and has less case capacity than some. I have some for my 6.5 and it does well. Definitely get more velocity with the same charge. Nice groups.

I have been shooting a lot of the nosler stuff without issue thus far. I did have issues with sierras load data with this same bullet in prc and had to pull bullets. Maybe the data is just a little hot.

In the comments section of the June 5, 2021 episode, Rob wrote that the measured fired-case volume was 52.9 grains of water, so *more* capacity than most?!

how were temps on this day? Maybe try a 42.8 load and see how she does:)

How does a primer completely blow out, shouldn't the bolt face keep it in place? Also, with it blown out, you'd expect a loss of pressure and slower velocity....so it must have stayed in place until the brass was ejected.

Yeah honestly I'm not sure. The primer pocket is now trash and a primer would easily fall in and out. I kinda had the same thought that the bolt face would prevent a primer from leaving the case.
