130gr Sierra Game Changer - Reloader 17 3000+fps!

The second testing of Sierra's new 130gr "Game Changer" in my Tikka T3x 6.5 Creedmoor. The video didn't turn out as good as I wanted, but the results of the test are great. Hopefully you can take something away from this video. Sometimes a few adjustments to your recipe can shrink your groups in half. Thanks for watching and subscribing. All the rounds were loaded with:
2x fired Peterson cases
BR-2 Primers

    I really enjoy your channel, especially the variety of rifles, load workups, and of course the chuck footage. I've gotten great results in 6.5 creedmoor using RL16. I tried a lot of powders, primers, and bullets, but it all came together with RL16. I'm getting 2876FPS and 9 SD tested/measured over 60 rounds. It consistently shoots .6-.7 moa. Now that load development is out of the way I'm looking forward to shooting 1000 yards and hopefully beyond this summer.

    Thank you sir. We have been really ramping up production and gaining more and more audience as of the last couple of years. I have been using RE16 for the 22-250 and I do have some intentions to try it in the 6.5CM and maybe 308. I would like a common powder to stock up on.

    Hey Eric, another great video! I'm using the Hornady 143gr ELD, 43.1gr superformance and cci br2 primers. Shooting a Savage model 12 LRP. Groups are running about 0.393" center to center at 100yrds. Groups about 1 1/2" - 2" at 1000yrds. 6.5CM is an amazing round no matter what rifle you use. Keep the videos coming!

    You always seem to come out with videos that involve similar reloading components to which I am working with. I just ordered some Peterson brass to load up some 6.5 game changers for my bergara. Last night I read about the Peterson brass being a tad thicker and and it being a good idea to watch for pressure at lower than normal loads because of it. Great video as always. My favorite channel on the tube! Do you think you will be playing around with the game changers anymore in the future?

    Good test mate. Wise to stop when you did. I also found the 123gn Hornady SST to be a reliable and deadly projectile, albeit not using it at Hornady recommended Grendel velocities in my Tikka 6.5x55se. A truly devastating projectile on wild dogs and hogs, but too frangible for deer at the higher velocities I run it at. The 143gn ELD-X is my go to projectile for heavier game.

    I just ran a velocity test between thunderstorms. Sierra 130gr Gamechangers were at 2998 fps. No other data yet except primers were ok maybe a slight smear. Extraction was slick. Hornady brass, CCI large primer and 45.5 gr 6.5 Staball. COAL 2.845 I will probably call that max. T angle of the boat tail is past the neck into the cartridge. So good neck tension. I normally shoot a completely different load I have doped for a few months from 800 to 1000 yards. Just hard to find certain components for 6.5 creedmoor. Anyone taken whitetail with the 130 Gamechanger?

    The Savage Desert Tac is an awesome gun for the money and alot less expensive than the Tikka CTR. Both have very similar features. I would just say the Tikka is a smoother operator and has a better finish overall. However the Savage at less cost has the Accufit stock and will shoot as accurately as any Tikka. A T3x Lite will run you about the same price range as a Desert Tactical. So if you want a heavy Savage that's super accurate, go for it. If you want a light hunting rifle that is "accurate enough," go with a T3x Lite.

    Great video's! Big Tikka fan here as well. See you had to shim your CTR mag on 6.5, and see the front of the barrel has a large gap between stock and bit of a funny angle to it. I've had my Tikka's apart a lot. Is your action seated properly in the recoil lug? It's easy to assemble it with the lug sitting on top of the action rather than in the slot. I'If its going together tough, I'll pull the lug out of the stock and set it in the action and then press the stock down onto it. Cheers!

  • @ChuckinTV

    @ChuckinTV

    Thanks. The rifle action is properly bedded. It just looks strange being a Lite barrel on a CTR stock. I probably didn't have to shim the mag. Apparently you can just bend the hole out at the top to get a better fit. But it all seems to be working just fine. I was pretty happy with these groups.

    I tried the "Rock" and I really don't like it. Also not a fan of lead sleds either. I have a hard time getting a good shoulder in behind those. I usually use a bipod and that sand bag for a rear rest but I forgot to bring the bipod on this one. This might not be the ultimate way to get good groups, but it's what I use in 90% of my hunting situations, it makes for good practice. Thanks for watching Robert.

    These cases are all trimmed and the Petersons weigh out pretty consistently. I am seeing a lot less SD and ES in this video compared to when I tested H4350. I'm thinking I could play around with different primers to get the spreads down more. How ever, this is going to be for deer hunting for 500yd and under shots.
