    Brilliant! I am a new colourist and l absolutely love using watercolour pencils. I keep wondering whether I should be using normal blending techniques and gently activating the whole thing afterwards, Or to work the way that you have just demonstrated. Being new to gelatos do they dry automatically? Does one need to use a sealant at the end of the artwork? Thank you

  • @ClaireHoloway
    @ClaireHoloway7 ай бұрын

    In a dry technique like this they’ll apply to set very easily. No water added. If I had used water I’d personally not prefer a sealant. Just tissue between pages 😁

  • @marcymallett5305
    @marcymallett53057 ай бұрын

    If i use the dry technique will it dry completely so i dont have to use tissue between pages or as these more like oil pastels where the color comes off on your fingers unless unless you use a sealant? Thank you

    Your work is simply amazing. Did you use a fixative on the pages that had pastel backgrounds along with these paints together?

  • @ClaireHoloway
    @ClaireHoloway7 ай бұрын

    Thankyou 🥹 fixative carries the risk of wetting and smearing paint. I tend to just separate these kind of finished pages with tissue paper :)

    HI, first I would just like to say that I love your tutorials. Although I have been drawing over half my life, I only started "adult" coloring very recently and believe it or not it is very easy to get lost and very confused when you have watched as many tutorials I have. Bec cause I have been drawing so long I did not think this kind of coloring would be as difficult as I am finding it. I have an excellent concept of color theory which helps. I could not fixture out what Ii was doing wrong I have purchased so, so many items that were not at all necessary for a beginner's stage. One day Ii decided on wanted a new hobby. Something that was relaxing and could occupy my mind and hands (if that makes sense) and with that I decided on coloring. From there and after watching a couple tutorials, I went to our local craft store and purchased Prismas(150 set), mineral oils, several types of blenders and so on. The ONE thing I did nt think of though was paper I do not know why paper never came to mind. Common sense should have told me that paper is as important of not more important than the pencils you are using. I was wondering if you could offer some advice on which paper works best for coloring with colored pencils. I know this can be googled, but there isn't just one answer. Search results offers a few answers. For instance vellum seemed to e very popular so I went and purchased vellum. When I got home and I opened the paper it was transparent I do nit want to waste anymore money. I have tried looking at colouring books and nowhere does it state the type of paper being used. I rent off all my coloring sheets, which I purchase from Etsy. So not only do need a good paper, but one that will go through a printer. Hope you can help

    Hi there. Firstly, thankyou for your feedback on the channel. This was only ever a hobby for me, but the tutorials have helped so many people. I do, however, feel a big guilty, as you’ve clearly taken s lot of time to write. Thing is, I’m not a whizz on different types of paper. I’ve only ever coloured on the paper provided by the book publishers. However, my best friend Claire Eadie slso has a very popular channel - Colour with Claire - and she is very knowledgable on paper types. You might want to drop her s line - but make it tomorrow - as I know that she has a personal event which will mean she’s most likely not online today xx

    With all due respect, I already have a best friend..... ...... ...... ....... My Derwent electric eraser.😅 Black pencil will have to get in line behind the eraser and white colored pencil. Seriously, though, this is both a great tutorial and a beautiful completed coloring page. I was given a copy of Animorphia from my care team when I "graduated" (their words, not mine) from a residential chemical dependency program. I picked up coloring through the OT department as a method for dealing with anxiety, cravings, and good ol' boredom. All I had access to before that was the 2 mandala books from OT and a pack of Crayola colored pencils (sent as gift from my mother.) At the time I had no idea that there was this whole adult coloring community. The jump in skill level, from the 5th grade mandala book to Animorphia absolutely terrified me. But people like you and Peta Hewit (sp?) were so helpful. Now Kirby Rosanes books are some of my favorite. This hobby, and the things I learn from videos have helped me through some very difficult times. Just wanted to say "thanks."

    Hello all I hope everyone is doing well.. Well we are in the 3rd month of the new year 2023!!! I like this I'm going to be experimenting with something like this also I noticed just to bring this up I just received my Colormorphia: Celebrating Kerby Rosanes's Coloring Challenges Paperback from Amazon and the paper in that book (Not sure if I should've gotten the other version of the book) I know that the color pencils don't pick up the colors and the paper is light glossy paper and the 2 page art work is really nice but can't work with it. So now I thinking I'm going to have to unbind and cut the spine of this book format it to be scanned single page for the single pages and for the 2 page I would scan this for a 11 x 17 to capture details. And then next buy the right paper and then I'm thinking using Color pencils, Paint markers with chisel tips also fine point tips with the metallic and stander paint pens too.
