    Hey Claire, thanks again for another great tutorial. I'm very appreciative of all your videos and hard work you did on your channel. I have learned alot from all your different videos. And you are the one who really dragged me down the road of mixed media. Before I was just a pencil person but after starting to watch all your different videos I realized what I was missing out on. I would have never thought of venturing out to all these different mediums you use without your channel. Thank you. I've been looking at paints and was just wondering if these can granulate down to a transparent color like regular watercolors? You are so blessed to have so many beautiful paints in your collection. Hope you are well and still making art even if you are not posting videos about it for us.

    What a lovely message. Thankyou for taking the time to post. And absolutely yes. You can make them almost a glitter top wash. Have a practice on some watercolour paper though as you don’t want to soak normal colouring books - they’ll warp. You can transfer images onto watercolour paper :) xx

    @@ClaireHoloway I will leave her a message on Etsy as her shop has so many different colors. So I will need her help to find the washes. I'm also going to get a few of the favorite colors I've seen on your tutorials and also a few I personally like as well. There is this one set I think that would be perfect for my needs called the duo tones set that is absolutely gorgeous and it thins out to a opaque wash but still is iridescent and shimmery and as the name implys is two toned. Perfect for doing transparent fairy wings and things of that nature. I will be buying that one next month as a treat to myself as it is a bit pricey but I know it will be worth it cause these paints are absolutely gorgeous and I also know they will last a long time for my purposes as well. So many beautiful paints out there to play with and so little time. The bonus is I already have all the brushes I need for these watercolors thanks to your tutorials I was able to find the perfect set of modeling brushes on Amazon. And they work so well with all my different mediums I have been collecting. Had I bought my set at my local art store it would of cost a fortune. Thanks again for all your help.

    Maybe this is a silly question but I’m a beginner when it comes to adult coloring. The paints are beautiful, but what I’m most intrigued by in this video is your color map for the picture. Do you have any suggestions for creating color maps prior to coloring for beginners in order to make the coloring process a bit more seamless? Thank you so much!

  • @ClaireHoloway

    @ClaireHoloway

    4 жыл бұрын

    Kristie Hayes there’s no silly questions 🥰 I think possibly what the question is, is how do I choose colours to put where. Content can help you. Light sources - lanterns, the sun, the moon, fairy lights etc.... don’t take this the wrong way but having a play with colouring by numbers may help to show you what colours work in a scene for you then to do your own. Or even a digital app to do the same.

It may have been because I live in the US just not sure why. I have tried previously to send an email to her and the same issue with the email. Well all of the colors except for the green color was available so I chose a lighter shade of the green. But if the shipping and customs charges double the cost of $126 i may have to pass on this tutorial. I will have to find another tutorial where the supplies are easier to find. Hi Claire, what beautiful paints! I have a few twinkling H2os and want to add some other metallic paints, am hovering between these, the finetec and the Paul Rubens. Two questions, one - do you think these paints are better than the finetec paints? And two, they seem very opaque, they have obliterated the black lines of the drawing beneath. Can you draw the black lines over the top of the paints? Are they more opaque than the finetec? Sorry, that's more than two, LOL, but if one is spending quite a bit of money on quality paints, want to get it right :-). What would be the bestest shiniest out of the three brands? Thanks for a brilliant demo.

    Lesley Crawford hi! These are genuinely the shiniest, thickest metallic paints I have in my art arsenal. They are more opaque than Coliros and other brands. You can cover over in fine liner or pencil. I love them!!

    Lesley Crawford i have a wide variety of metallic/shimmer watercolours and these are by far the best. They almost don’t need any water to be activated/reactivated they’re so rich and soft. Almost a cross between liquid and pan. They also granulate beautifully (which i love) and like Claire has shown they’re willing to be blended on the paper rather than just in a palette. Most shimmer colours, and I’m including Daniel Smith (the holy grail of watercolour brands) in this, tend to not behave like regular watercolour paint. It’s why most artists who work with wc’s tend to steer clear of them (I assume. I know I’ve read some quite dismissive comments by folks about mica paint). I’m a sucker for shiny and intense colour tho 🙃 and I love these.

    Sand 625 thanks for this 🙂. I finally bought a set of the Paul Rubens, which I found on offer, and actually they don,t seem bad at all. But I am going to get some of these in colours that are not in the set, I like to have different brands, and they do look gorgeous, if expensive. I like to mix on the paper too. Got a celebration coming soon, so a present is in order 🥳. Just love rich shiny colours too 🙂
