Greetings, and welcome to my channel!
This channel features aviation related content I create from DCS World, a fantastic and highly detailed combat flight simulator for PC. Within DCS World I'll also showcase content from our virtual squadron, the 62nd Virtual Fighter Squadron. The channel will also feature live action content from the volunteer work I do helping keep the only civilian owned and flightworthy F-4 Phantom II operational.
Thank you for your interest and welcome to the channel!

Cowlings?😳 Jman
AO3, I was Plane Captain for 2 years in the early 70's on the F4J while stationed at NAS Miramar CA. I was so proud of knowing that plane inside and out. Twin J79's. Just an awesome aircraft.
Thank you for your service! J79's sure sound good! I imagine there's quite a bit of difference between the backseat of a Navy Phantom vs. an Air Force Phantom?
You should get a F-104 Starfighter, there is not enough footage coming out of Kennedy space centre. 😂
Not many of them left flying, only 3 in the U.S. I believe. Has a J-79 though!
@@DieselThunderAviation i know, i follow one of those pilots on YT, i think its a shame they dont post a lot of videos. We need more F-104 videos 😈
Listo para la primera sacudida de cucarachas😅😅😅😅
Love it!! Can’t wait to fly it again sometime!
I can’t believe it’s the last flyable example- heck I remember flights of these and Guard versions in the tarmac. Glad to see you keeping them flying
Last flyable one in the U.S. at least. Three countries still operate these; Greece, Turkey, and Iran. We're working to put this one back in the air!
To kool for words! Thanks for the memories!
Radome paint... best shoes on parade.
Love the smeared blood from previous phixers...
Sacrifice to the Phantom gods!
wow! I just remember airshows in the late 80s early 90s how LOUD this plane is. I loved seeing the F14s fly for the swept wings but this beast was so loud it got everyone's attention!
She is still quite loud, even at idle! Really looking forward to seeing her in the air someday!
Check your safety wire job. You went the wrong way with a couple of those. Been there done that when I was a young airman back in the day.
Indeed! I plan on going back to redo those!
Otra sacudida de las cucarachas.
Love it!
Does the F4 use skydrol?
No, she uses MIL SPEC 5606 hydraulic fluid.
Better get use to that master caution light. 🫡🇺🇸🤣
Great vid man! Thanks!
Man DCS has gotten realistic looking as hell. Just kidding, glad to the old girl back up in the air. Keep’em flying!
Funny you mention DCS. There is an F-100D under development currently...
Loved the video! It was great to see the F100 phlying again.
Saw an F4 do two passes at Sun N Fun about 20yrs ago. Very impressive. Which I could have seen them fly more.
I was fortunate to be inside the other airworthy F-100 about a year ago, didn't get to fly in it (I don't have that kind of money lol) but I got to open and close the canopy which was awesome
That must have been Dean Cutshall's F-100, based out of Fort Wayne, Indiana?
That is freaking awesome!
Nice to see her moving her "feathers". Can't barely wait to to see her making some noise 😁.
Oh, she made some noise alright! Think you'll like the next video.
Dude, that was awesome. I think it's amazing that you guys can keep these complex beasts flying as civilian aircraft. Hats off to that 07.
Looks like the canopy caulking needs to be replaced. Yikes
We’re actually working on that!
You look and sound like my brother-in-law. That's not a bad thing, he's a cool dude too
I was a weapons loader on F-4 C's and D's in the late '80s based at McConnell in Wichita, KS. They had more sharp edges than a nuns' ruler-when working underneath we wore Navy hard cranial helmets to avoid head shots. You weren't considered a member of the fraternity until you received your first "Phantom bite." Most of ours were veterans of Vietnam.
Same here. I still have scars on my back from ducking down while driving the jammer loading SUU 23 gun pods on the centerline.
@@heeder777 Ah yes, the SUU 23 gun pod-I was the only one that had a skinny enough hand to connect the cable to the aircraft. One night we had 3 crews loading 8 pods, one to hang, second for the functional check, and one to safety wire.
cool, thnx
So how many people will collings kill with this?
cockpit meant to be that smokey ?
Not smoke, that’s condensation vapor from the air conditioning system. It was humid that day 🙂
@@DieselThunderAviation I was thinking SMOKE!!!! Then thought well -- there seems to be no urgency - so it must be a vapor of sorts.
Outstanding! My Dad flew the F-100………… about the time I was born…late 50’s
Amazing footage!
Thanks Paddy!
As a former Viper, Night Hawk and Raptor Crew Chief it's wonderful to see the testing go so well. Seeing that style mule brought back a lot of memories for me. I always enjoyed using them once you learned the tricks to operating them correctly. Especially the newest ones made for the Raptor and it's 5000 psi hydraulic systems which were VERY particular with getting the system bled. Even more crazy, you actually ran that mule in "test stand" while connected to the aircraft for some tests. If all goes well, I know how Phantoms can be a PITA, I hope she'll make it to Wings over Houston. Seeing her fly in person is worth the trip down there from my area of Texas.
She'll always be at Wings Over Houston, hopefully as a flyer this year but we'll see on that! 5,000 PSI, yikes!
@@DieselThunderAviation Yikes indeed! I had a 3000 psi pinhole leak cut a rag in half while chasing down a leaking line in the F-16 vertical stabilizer that went to the rudder ISA. I am so glad it wasn't my fingers I was using to check for leaks while flexing the line. So I was always very aware of the Raptor's hydraulic systems pressure and what it was capable of. However, boy did that increased pressure make those flight control surfaces move like lighting on the Raptor.
Simply beautiful!
I really like the F-100. Always have. It was my favorite Thunderbird aircraft and then the T-38. The Viper comes last. I don't know why I like the T-38 better. I remember 1976 and the Bicentenial - I was six years old and then the "Six Million Dollar Man" had an episode where he "flies" with the Thunderbirds so maybe that's it. The colors were cool during the Bicentenial. It's too bad the gas crisis left the Navy with the Skyhawk. Not that I don't like the A-4, but it had no afterburner. You gotta have an afterburner.
Did you forget the F4 Phantom the Thunderbirds used in there? Thought they were still using them in 76, as I have photos of them. Could be mistaken though, on the year.
@@Rogue-7.62 I like their F4-Es closest thing we had to an old joint strike fighter. I still like the T-38s better. I am pretty sure the Blues quit using them in 1973.
@@Rogue-7.62 They switched to the Talon in 1974, as the oil crisis started the year before. In 1976, the T-Bird T-38's had the special Bicentennial star on their tails and the plane number on the intake.
Thunderbirds and Blue Angels only overlapped for a couple years flying Phantoms, the only time they ever flew the same airframe (F-4J for the Blue Angels and F-4E for the Thunderbirds). Blues switched to the A-4 in 1974, same year the Birds moved to the T-38.
Boners all around.
Thanks for the ride! That was so cool
Been fortunate enough to see the other airworthy F-100F at an airshow back in 2010. The Hun instantly became a favorite. Great to know this one flying too and I hope I can see it in person
There’s a good chance that she’ll fly in the Wings Over Houston Airshow this year!
Incidentally, the silver F-100F owned by Dean Cutisall is retired as of 2023. That leaves this Collings Foundation artifact as the only flyable Super Sabre.
…awesome! 💯
Wish my dad was still alive to see this, he flew the F-100, F-102, and F89.
Your dad is way cooler and interesting than mine did he fly during wartime?
Wish mine was alive too. He jumped out of c119, c130, c141
Awesome
Not sure how heavy the F-100's canopy is. We received an TO to fabricate a support device for F-16 twin seater one piece conopy, for when the jet is towed around with the the canopy open. Seems there were failures to the cylinder/opening mechanism from all the bouncing about. The sealant on the canopy glass looks like it's due for a redo. If I lived closer I'd be happy to redo it with PRC 1422 B2. Done this work a few times on Phantom windscreens. A shop vac., polycarbonate scrapers of verious shapes, lots of MEK and gauze. looks like a weeks to 10 days job. Need about 3 pints of PRC. I've never even seen an F-100, but it's wonderfull to see one in flight condition and looking good. Thank you for sharing this footage.
na slap some b 1/2 on it production said its a monday flier
CODE 1 ?
code 2 previous🤣
What is the cabin smoke?
Looks like air conditioning
Not smoke , air conditioning, does that when it's a hot day
it's condensation, water vapour in the air.
Yes, that was the air conditioning. Was hot and humid that day 🙂
Amazing result from all the teams work.... Must be very fulfilling to see that aircraft back in the air once more... Congratulations 😊
Thank you! Awesome aircraft!
Love the sound of the J57. Nothing else like it.
Cool footage, thanks for sharing.
Nice ! And thanks for the raw audio. No silly music. 😁
Hell Yea!!!!
