A Bit Lonely at the Hangar | F-4 Phantom

Wasn't a lot for us to do at the hangar today, since we were the only ones there today. My son and I just tidied up a bit, and charged some batteries. Not a lot going on today otherwise. And as mentioned, will have some more DCS content coming up too!

Just watching you casually sitting on the wing of an airworthy Phantom is good enough. Keep up the good work !

Her significance as an iconic aircraft certainly isn't lost on me. We'll get her back in the air in due time!

Thanks for the short update. At least one F-4 appearance on YT. ;-) Waiting for HB F-4 radar video part II . Also looking forward to seeing the F-100. We don't have such machines near here. Saw a glider towing PZL-104 Wilga yesterday several times near were I live.

I've heard that the Greeks are going to be retiring their last Phantoms within a year, and the South Koreans will also be retiring theirs soon. Perhaps the Foundation could make a deal with either of them for their inventory of parts, spares, tools, etc?

South Korea’s last ones will be retired in June. I’ve asked about parts before, and it turns out that gets real tricky with between ITAR, the State Department, and Customs. Even from allied nations from an aircraft that was built here.

@@DieselThunderAviationI suggested the same thing previously, and got the same answer! All we can do is hope it works out for the better.

@@DieselThunderAviation Since the USA is the true home of the Mighty Phantom, I'd imagine that there are ways to make the red tape manageable. Perhaps a nice conversation with your friendly local pro-warbird Congressman might help. It took an Act of Congress to get that jet into the hands of the Foundation, perhaps another might open the floodgates and supply you with Phantom Parts For Life!

Wait a minute!!! Son?! You don't look like you're old enough to shave let alone drink! Which is kind of awesome, actually. 🙂 Enjoy the time off and I look forward to the next video.

Thanks! Sucks that I'm a bit baby faced, but nice not to have to shave so much! And we have not one, but three sons! Two of which are Marines!

@@DieselThunderAviation Holly smokes, three?! About half kidding here but don't women realize what causes that? Why they'd go back for a second is beyond me after screaming to give birth to the first one. Regardless, congrats! I'd bet in another 20 years you'll be delighted that you're 'baby faced' and don't look your age. Thanks for sharing and looking forward to the next video.

BEFORE ALL YOU ALL NON FLIGHT LINE peeps go and tell him to buy a new battery….. the battery in the -60 is an aircraft battery…. It’s a 28v Battery and it’s rather specific. The start cycle on the -60 power/air cart is brutal on batteries.

Sure takes a lot of juice to get that rotor up to 35% RPM. Those batteries aren't cheap either! We try to take care of what we have :)

We have plenty of TO's on the shelf. And I wish it were that simple. When everything is working correctly it is as simple as hooking up the power cable, energizing the power source, and flipping two switches in the pilot cockpit for the jet to take ground power. A third switch in the WSO cockpit will connect ground power to the instrument AC bus. We're currently working through an issue on the jet where she won't take ground power.
