First Impressions of the Kola Peninsula Map | DCS World

Just picked up the Kola Peninsula Map and thought I'd share my first impressions of it. I had not flown on it until this video . Overall, it seems like a nice map. It's not the largest map in DCS as far as flyable area, that title still belongs to the South Atlantic/Falklands map. The Kola Peninsula map does take the crown as far as hard drive space used, and comes in nearly 150 GB required, with it potentially growing more later as more detailed areas are added.

Certainly has a lot of potential!
From other videos and comments the map has had a bit of a mixed response. I bought it day one and can see great potential, it's huge! I don't feel like I've been miss sold anything, I read the description and knew what I was getting before I purchased it. Theres a lot left to add and no doubt several rounds of optimisations to be made. Nice to finally have somewhere the Viggen can call home!!! Great video, some good comparisons between the higher and low detail areas.

I agree, lot of potential here! And too true on it being the Viggens playground, a DCS module just waiting for it's map!

Well done look through the map thanks. Just one thing with regard to getting stuttering, you switched modules and perhaps that could of had a degree of impact as to why stuttering appeared ? For me currently, I'm not seeing enough of a difference to inspire me to lay down that much money and install space on the Map. I wonder how long they can continue with this piecemeal approach when Microsoft with their flight sim have shown there is a different way here. It's all seeming very last gen and dated.

Yes, this one that I’m using is the MYSE version. It goes into the main DCS install folder so I have to put that back in after every patch. Big quality of life improvement, especially since I don’t speak Swedish!
