This isn't the first time I have seen her push her baby away so roughly and as I have said before I don't think she has much feeling for the baby, she sees him as a hinderance, but knows she has to be a mother but really doesn't want to.

Effies vaby is younger than the other and yet far more independent. She isn't a mumsy cuddly mum, it isn't her style. But her baby is fed and she definitely protects her. Some human mums are like that. They don't do the cuddles but they do care. Effie does care. I don't think it is fair to say her style is wrong even if it upsets us when we see the baby wants a cuddle. It is the way Effie is. Isn't it usual that the way a mum is, often depends on how they were brought up? I much prefer watching Effies baby and I definitely feel more for her and I wish Effie were more tactile, but she isn't. It is just her way.

I wonder why Effie didn’t let Mjukuu raise this baby? This is Effie’s first time to raise her own baby and she is not overly maternal. Probably because Mjukuu has a baby at the same time so Effie has no choice? I wish gorillas would give interviews.

I wonder what is on mums mind, she is pushing the baby away. It seemed not just for a short time , but continuously. The baby seems too young to be pushing for independence or ‘long play-time’ Is she a new mum? Or just not a diligent mum?

She protects her baby but is not in the least bit loving. She doesn’t want the baby to be touched but also doesn’t like the baby touching her, instead of picking him up she shoves him the direction she wants him to go away from Gernot. She also discipline bites him when he tries to climb on her. Very sad.

I agree. I made a post somewhat to what you said. I received so many comments that were basically calling me ignorant. If gorillas have to resort to such behaviors of being careless, zoo keepers take them away, and it seems like they prefer more to reject them if they don't want to have anything to do with it. Both mothers do the same thing, both behave the same way.

Человеческие матери, если позволяет материальное положение в наше время , а в старые времена это еще и титул и деньги, берут нянек. А в старину еще даже и кормилец. Так что животные и их мир это совершенство, а наш мир людей= это пародия на совершенство.

I don't understand how people can say that Effie is careless because she gives her baby freedom to move about, but not to far. Whereas Mjukuu is accused by saying she is overprotective. Gernot kidnapping the baby is his way of getting attention, and making Effie chase him twice. He did not hurt the baby the two times he kidnapped baby. I've seen this with Gentaro, from Kyoto City Zoo, when Kintaro was born. As for Mjukuu, she is overprotective because she was traumatized when her son, Tiny, was killed 13 years ago. Haoko, the Silverback of his troup ay Ueno Zoo, kidnapped all his children so Momoko could chase him.

  • @delphine88313

So you didn't see when she threw that baby down?? Is there something wrong with this gorilla mom? Maybe she doesn't need to breed and is tired. It's a difference in being overprotective because of the pre-teens around.I can understand because those older ones could hurt those babies by mistake.

  • @rosiepena8917

Effie is terrible! You can clearly see in this video that the baby keeps going to her and wants to be held but she keeps throwing him on the ground to get him away from her. How can u not see that? Watch the way other gorilla mothers like Mjukuu treat their babies. They are not cold and mean with their babies like that. She obviously has issues with motherhood since she abandoned her first two babies!

I didn't think Effie could move that quickly. She was surprisingly agile getting her baby back. Gernot was being a bit naughty but gentle, he quickly returned the little one. I'm a little confused by Effie's behaviour, she was pretty rough pushing the baby away and shoving him? onto his? back. I don't think I've seen a mum do that before. I think I read somewhere that Effie's Gernots mum, but he was raised by Mjukuu, so maybe she's not very experienced. 💖💖🦍

I feel bad for the baby, he is such a cutie. He can easily get hurt with the way that she treats him. I wish I could pick him up and play with him.
