Dork in the Road

I am the Dork in the Road and I want to be your Internet Riding Buddy. Motorcycle adventure is my passion.

Adventure is for everyone, and I want to help others see how easy it is to just get out there and make it happen.

I don’t claim to be an expert. I’m just your average overweight, middle-aged, bearded dude out there making it up as I go. Every new adventure has something to teach me. Thank you for joining me along the way.

MY MISSION: to inspire, educate, and empower others to have adventures of their own.

New content every Monday and Wednesday morning, with the occasional bonus Friday vid or stream.

Disclaimer for reasons: I am not a professional journalist, expert motorcycle rider, or a mechanic. These videos are for entertainment purposes and represent my personal opinions and experiences. I'm just a dude who isn't even good at riding or making videos, so be smart and don't risk life or limb trying to follow my example or advice.

Excellent review. This is so to the point and without all the noise of other motorcycle channels. You hit all the points, and I feel more informed after watching your video than I have after days of research.

Thanks Dork, I rode the Wyoming BDR last summer on my '21 Rally. I may be called an intermediate rider, but I made it. Lots 0f deep sand, steep hills with large rocks, and deep ruts on two track hills. One rut I slid into was so deep I was wedged on both sides on the fairings. Yes the fairings busted, but they still work fine. And if you look at it from a distance, you can't tell. Doubt I'll replace them. Odds are I slide into another deep trench.

Dude. Ben. You really shouldn’t have explained mansplaining to her the way you did. It’s always best to do it slower… But really, this convo can be attributed to just about any situation these days. People try to make every issue a political statement and get all fussy about what someone else is doing with their own shit/life/time/whatever when it’s really not their place to say. I don’t t understand why it’s so hard to let people be themselves and respect that. I hope to instill in my children a sense of acceptance. I’m not a religious guy but the Serenity Prayer (if that’s what it’s called) is always a great reminder of that. Anyway, rant over. You guys are rad. Ride on!

Just took possession of a new 2024 CRF300 Rally. I also have a Tenere 700, so I am one lucky dude! The T7 is too big for me for confident back-road riding, so for that I will be using the 300 Rally. For exploring the world I will use the T7.

Well! Today is the day I find out for sure, I'm cracking the case of my @Kwakka Saké Adventure and we shall see. I think it is irresponsible for mechanics to play the she will be right card when there is so much information, photos, videos and direct evidence that the torsion spring isn't up to the task. I ride Hopper hard and if the ballancer tensioner is going to go slack it is going to happen to me. I have nearly 30,000 klms on the clock and it's not like I really want to do it, this video gives a false sense of security Mr Dork, a lazy, indifferent person would say, there you have it... a Kawasaki mechanic said, well they are the ones who will benefit from this. Anyways, thanks for the video, most KLR people are proven to be very intelligent human beings, why else would they still be going 40 years later 👌😊

Great review and I couldn’t agree more on the little Honda. However, think there’s a new kid on the block that’s going to sell a million bikes this year: the CF Moto 450MT. It weighs just over 400lbs wet but has everything we’ve been asking of every motorcycle manufacturer in the world for the last few years. It sits in that sweet spot that nobody else appears to want to corner - even more capable off road than ALL the other middleweight adventure bikes with enough power to be truly fun and yet the comfort/features to make a long distance ride doable as well. Think it’s the one new motorcycle this year that will finally force Japan/ Europe out of their complacent slumber.

Reading the comments, I realized that for a large part of the commenters, "the grapes are sour". This is how we express ourselves in Bulgaria, for people who look for the reason for failure and their inability to achieve a given goal, finding it in the set goal. High seat, high center of gravity, lower clearance?!🤔 Don't you think that the T7 is made for tall, strong men, not for short-legged chumps?!

This bike is on my short list. Ironically or not, another is the CFMoto Ibex800 T both made by CFMoto! So looks like CFmoto is getting my business regardless. I look forward to viewing your reports on the KTM. There are more dealers than CFMoto, and I think resale would be much better on the KTM. Enjoy your stuff always.
