The Christian Radich at 43:30 is a real tall ship from Norway by that same name. Of course, she took sail and launched on in february 1937 only, so let's say that's another "prophesy" in this episode. She is still sailing as a school ship for Norway and also does some charter and competes. She is a beautiful fillrigger with a top speed of 14 knots and is equipped with an engine doing 10 knots.

The story writer is not really consistent with the Onedin children's age. Samuel and William were about 10 years old when Charlotte was born. And now at the Christmas dinner, they appear nearly the same age.

Fergus Doyle (T.P. McKenna) offers my favourite line (12:30), "America, now there's a fine country...where actors SHOOT politcians!" While John W. Booth would've appreciated the thought, his countrymen would have been divided over the sentiment. (A.L. would be dead against it.)
