Pronounced 'Fella'!
Since his debut release in 2008, Phaeleh aka Matt Preston has developed an inimitable style of cinematic electronic music, which floats between the shifting tempos and timbres of dubstep, garage, electronica and house music. Phaeleh’s epic releases on his own Undertow label ‘Fallen Light’, ‘Tides’ and ‘A World Without’ have cemented his position as one of the most exciting and consistent producers to emerge from his current hometown, Bristol. Phaeleh’s downbeat and heartfelt sound honours the tradition of Bristolian forefathers Massive Attack, Smith & Mighty and Portishead, with a fresh outlook and penchant. His future looks to continue in its ascent with another longplayer release imminent

I just wanted to let you know how much I love your music I’ve been through some hardships over the years and this music you have brilliant made has helped me through it. I love every single track of yours so please keep making music because it’s really truly is a gift to us. I really love and appreciate you.❤
One of my favourite tunes ever, superb
something about the simplicity, the humility that let the greater spirit shine through the silence in between the notes really heals my fractured soul ❤
Power life sound!
Nice one!
HOLY COW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😳😱🤯 this is EPIC!!!!!!!!!!!
Glad you liked it, I've swapped a few bits out since I made this, so should probably do an update at some point!

Wau 🤩 Thats how a remix so post to be... From everything a little bit... In super quality and mixed just perfect... I love it.... 🎶 Collected, Storaged and daily in use... 😁... Send you a big hug, kiss you for your great work 🤍
So glad you're rating it, was lucky to get the chance to remix such a great song!
Absolut great my dear Phaeleh... You are my favorite and very best music maker ❤😊👌... Love all your songs 💙🎶... Keep going on like that
Thanks so much, always appreciate anyone listening!
I wish these were in more high demand. We need more noodling on the live streams!
I will probably do some more at some point. I do very much enjoy them, just need to prioritise the music at the moment. I'll probably do some more streams around the next releases...
@@phaeleh Yea that makes sense. Sounds good!
Thankyou once again Matt....
Thanks for listening!
Been a fan for years, and honestly this is probably my favorite album you've done. But I have a question - what's the guy saying in this song? My family and I are debating this 😂
Thanks so much, yeah I was generally pleased how this album turned out (1 mastering issue aside), so glad people are enjoying it. Honestly I'd have to look at the project and solo the vocal, as I can't remember. Today it sounds like 'it's not a ??? no more', possibly sin, but I think it may be something else. Let me check when I'm next in Cubase for you....
@@phaeleh man, I'm so glad you replied. Not just cause it'll be cool to know the phrase, but so I can tell you that I love your music, and it's helped me out through some rough moments. You create absolutely beautiful art, and I'm glad I have an opportunity to say thanks.
♥
This music takes me into another world

This is crazy. First of all there hasn’t been a phaeleh song I haven’t heard and today I asked the universe for a message and I hear this song. I have been having difficulty letting go of my current life but know I need to do it and the part about moving to warmer weather next year came at such a pot number time it’s insane o am literally in shock right now
Glad the music is helping!
Looking for this song. I met a nurse and I told her she is a goddess. There are not words. Maybe this song☝️
Glad you like it!
I got introduced to you by a mrsuicidesheep mix when I was 18(im 33 this year) and you are by far my favourite artist to came across. Really helping with the good vibes for work and exams
Thanks so much for still listening after all this time, I'm glad you're still enjoying the music!
Hi Phaeleh, sorry to randomly bother you but I’d like your opinion on a dj controller. I’m really wanting to get back into music again and even tho I own turntables, I want to give digital mixing a go. I was looking into All in 1 standalone dj controllers that don’t need laptop. Here’s what I’m looking at Denon sc live 4 with built in speakers 4 channel £1000 Denon prime 4 plus £1900 Do you have any experience or have any friends that have used either standalone unit? If so, can you recommend any of them? I’m leaning towards the Denon sc live 4 because it has most of features of prime 4 plus but is half price and has the built in speakers. They could be the key to me getting back into music because I can’t play loud music.. Regardless of if you’ve used , know friends with or have just browsed, do you think sc live 4 with built in speakers could be a good pick? Here’s my worries that you can maybe subside ,, Plastic build may feel cheap Maybe this system is just straight up bad and not for proper mixing and just for beginners m too expensive for what you get Firstly, here’s what Denon sc live 4 has for £1000 4 channels, 2 decks with layers Built in speakers Engine software Standalone no laptop required Can plug in Denon dj lc6000 controller for true 3 or 4 deck mixing Can stream via Amazon music and few other streaming services Comes with Serato pro Can connect light show You can not plug in turntables and it does not have stem support like prime 4 plus I’m worried that digital mixing may feel bad or jog wheels feel bad compared to technics 1210’s Part of reason for standalone controller is because I don’t have laptop or speakers. So if if I bought a traditional dj controller, I’d still have to spend I guess £400 plus on laptop and then speakers so that’s why maybe the sc live 4 at £1000 with built in speakers may be perfect for me. I mean I had this crappy pc software about 15 years ago called pc dj scratch with blank vinyl and well, that has problems but I still enjoyed it. I just don’t want to buy into something that is possible not good quality and for beginners. Any input would be great I just don’t really have anyone to ask and can’t help think that positive reviews may be from beginners and as I know you have loads of dj equipment, you may just have some experience or knowledge. No worries if you don’t get back me or if you have no info. 👍
Hey Graham, I'm probably not the person to ask, as I don't really ever DJ outside the odd gigs once or twice a year. I only have limited experience with standalone DJ controller setups. I have the Pioneer XDJ-RX (first version) which has bugs (makes loud clicks when you hit the cue button), that they never fixed, and the same bug appeared in later versions too. So in my experience, I don't really like them, but haven't used the Denon ones, so maybe they're better. My general advice would be to go the Denon forums, and read any threads with people moaning about bugs and issues, if they're not, then they're probably good to go. Nothing is going to feel the same as mixing on vinyl, but basic controllers aren't going to feel as good to use as the full size pioneer stuff, and the price of those means I can't recommend them unless you've got money to burn through. Honestly, any built in speakers are most likley going to be terrible, so I wouldn't really factor that in. You'd be way better off getting some cheap speakers separately. This article has a video of their recommendations, so I'd go check some KZread videos and get an idea of what could work for you: www.digitaldjtips.com/best-standalone-dj-systems/
@@phaeleh thanks for you reply. I really appreciate it. Unfortunately, I just don’t know what to do. If I didn’t have problem of not being able to play loud music, my choice would be so much easier. If I spend £2000 on Denon prime 4 plus , or the pioneer equivalent plus speakers and am unable to even use them , I’ll be kinda screwed. That’s why £1000 on Denon sc live 4 with speakers plug and play sounded appealing. Now I’m thinking maybe I should just get a pair a cd j’s and pair with old mixer for pure digital mixing And then possibly buy Serato pro, Serato time code vinyl and this device called DVS to connect and buy laptop and then I can use this for digital and vinyl mixing and as using the Serato vinyl, it will feel more familiar and give that vinyl feel. Although of course, these 2 options are more work and stress for me because I’ve not used laptop or pc in 10 years and only have experience with turntables, mixer plugged into sound system. So laptops, Serato, the stuff to connect, cd’s is all new to me. It’s just the fact of being a novice and knowing I may spend 2K plus and make wrong decision. To be honest, I was hoping you’d say you have a standalone and they are great. No crashes, easily plug usb in and play etc Oh I have 1 more question. On my old pioneer djm 600 mixer. Years ago I had a slight problem where there are 2 small circle buttons that change the speed of the effects but this button wore out so I kinda stopped using it. Is it possible that I could get it repaired by pioneer? It’s a simple fault but as mixer is about 15 years old, I don’t know if they would repair. If I was to now buy cd j’s it would be great to be able to use the effects again on my mixer. I think pioneer cd j 3000 are new 1’s do you recommend an older model that I could get for maybe £1000 for each deck? Thanks again. Sorry to be a pain and I won’t keep bothering you about my dj problems 🙏 Oh, I hope you have some new music cooking. The last ep space between us is still a fav it’s always playing in my house. Gives me chills.
Honestly I have no idea mate, you would be much better off diving into reddit or watching some KZread videos on the subject. DVS is fun, but you need a lot more stuff to do it, and it sounds like a simpler setup might be what you're after. It's not my area of expertise unfortunately, I haven't lived in a house with a regularly used DJ setup in about 15 years! Hope you find a solution!
@@phaeleh no worries buddy. I guess I’ll delve more in to it and make up my mind 1 way or another. Wanting to get something for summer fun time. 👍
Never knew that beautiful guitar part is also played by the author. This makes it even better.
Well I'm happy to hear that. Yeah all the guitar and bass is played by me, keyboard stuff is half played/half programmed!
Love your music brother
Thanks so much, I always appreciate anyone listening!
This song marked my year 2016, and for a while it was forgotten. Thank you Phaeleh, it brought me good memories that only this song could remind me of.
Thanks so much, I'm glad the song has some happy memories associated with it!
Wow 🤩 ❤❤❤❤
Glad you're liking it!
Unreal!
Thanks so much!
2024
Nice one!
❤Miliony ❤
Thy vibration is off thy meter
Glad you're digging the sounds!
Feels like it's missing drum and bass speed
That's probably because it's a 140bpm dubstep mix...
Is it "Juno" at 00:45 ? Love it ! A long version somewhere ?
The track at 45 minutes is definitely 'Juno', this one here: www.patreon.com/posts/exclusive-music-65625090

Nice one!
I just love this song like being in heaven ❤🤘🏻🍻
Thanks, I'm glad you like it!
I discovered you trough Mr suicide sheep.long long ago I absolutely love your music. Especially afterglow with soumdmuse. ⛷️🛌🛀🤪 I try to make some drone like ambient long attack long decay arp vibes. With my synthecyzers. But I have still to master rhythm and drum. But these track you make. Make me walk on clouds. And write poetry. Thank you for the music. You inspire me. ❤️
It's always nice to hear that people find the music inspiring. I'm sure if you just keep making stuff, you'll start to feel a bit happier with the rhythm side of things.
Marvelous….
Thanks!
Your music is truly therapeutic. It has been a part of my life for 12 years. I wanted to thank you for that :)
Thanks so much for the kind words Robert, I really appreciate it!
I found this song when it came out, took me to another world. Since then i have come back every year, not only to heal myself but more importantly to show people who are in turmoil. When that bass drop hits with the ethereal and beautiful voice its just....something else. Ive showed over 50 people over the years and they all agree. Absolutley amazing song.
I'm so happy to hear you're still enjoying it after all these years, and I always appreciate anyone sharing the sounds with others, so thanks for that!
Mükemmel ötesi teşekkürler 🙏
dinlediğiniz için çok teşekkürler!
this is amazing! please release this!!
I'll have to see if I still have the project somewhere. I think it needed a bit of extra work which I never got round to doing, but I'll have a re-listen when I get a chance and see what my thoughts are!
Some of the best peices of music ive ever heard , been a fan for years always member outlook festival , felt like i was floating listening to your set and when you looked around the crowd just pure bliss ❤ do you still perform ?
Thanks so much! Yeah the first Outlook set was pure vibes, the following one wasn't too bad either but not quite the same. I'm still open to playing shows, I'm just not particularly in vogue, so don't really get any offers of sets outside of North America. I've done a few UK festivals over the last few years, but haven't really played here much in the last few years.
