Gotta be honest.. thought at first when it started, was thinking it wasn't going to be as good as the original BUT.. I am liking it better and better as I play it 20x a day lol thank you!

Thanks Sarah. that's what I really liked about this back when it was made. It hadn't gone the obvious route and was the definition of a 'grower', I'm glad you like it!

I think most would agree, but both the remixes got a LOT more DJ/radio support than the original, so they did what they were supposed to do!

Such an interesting response from the creator himself! Glad you also see that perspective and appreciate the adaptation of your music as well. I've loved the original Afterglow since it was originally dropped years ago, but this version for sure seems modernized. A bit of cyberpunk/Grimes flavor to this version.

An old favourite from 2011 that got me through some rough times in the past, hearing dbridge flip this magical piece is awesome and a pleasure to hear a drum n bass touch. As a music producer myself i can appriciate the production quality in this, i wonder if Phaeleh might consider in releasing the accapella as part of a remix competition or to give producers a chance to remix this classic? :D

Thanks, glad you're a fan of it and the original helped you through some challenging times. Whilst I do quite like this remix, in general I'm not really a fan of having my stuff remixed, so since I've been without a label (2013) I haven't had any remixes done, so probably wouldn't be providing stems to anyone any time soon, but can't rule it out in the future though! Appreciate the suggestion!

I love the contrast between this and the original. While I think of the original being light, carefree, possibly on a sunny hillside covered in flower, this one is like walking down a busy urban sidewalk with the dark coldness of an uncaring city. Maybe even with dark intent. Put the two together and it's a very yin yang situation.

Aloha Brother Phaeleh. Been loving every album you've released. I always check apple music every week to see if you've dropped anything new and every new project you release is DOPE! The original track for Afterglow was for many of us our introduction to Soundmouse, her voice is incredible. Aside from some tracks with you and ID3 I can't find Soundmouse anywhere! It's like she captivated us with her voice and fell off the earth. My wife has heard me for years say "Where did Soundmouse go?" I can't find traces of her online other than her Twitter posts from when Afterglow came out in 2013 I think and articles about that song. Do you know what happened to her?

A lot of people ask me this. I know she did make a fair few other tunes with some other people, some got released (like the stuff with boychild), and some of it didn't. I think she opted to concentrate on teaching rather than pursuing music full time, but the last I heard she had been making some stuff. I think she's still on facebook, so could try asking there!

Wait, Phaeleh is still dropping new content AND it's a mix of one of my favorite tracks of his (possibly my actual favorite track?) This is lining up to be a good year :)

After actually listening to the track, I'm very impressed that dBridge decided to go this direction with the track. There was no actual way to replace the original Afterglow track, so he didn't try. Releasing this mix which is radically different, still pays homage to the original and tickles that nostalgia bone, while offering an entirely new and alternative piece of music to enjoy. Now we have options, and I'm grateful for it.

I think it would have been fairly hard to go super dark with the nature of the vocals, and think he hit the sweet spot just between the light and the dark!

Hello Pheleah I’m not going to lie, this style isn’t for me but it did get me thinking and I have a question for you, Why didn’t you release Fallen Light Album on Vinyl? I have the few singles that you put on vinyl but the whole album would have been incredible. I’m so so glad that I have The Cold In You Ep on vinyl and Tides on vinyl. I was big on vinyl from 1999 to around 2012 ish when dubstep slowed down and I put you up there with best producers. I can’t play my vinyl right now and don’t listen to dubstep but I do come back to your music. Just pissed I’m restricted to headfones only. I’ve been thinking about taking my Bluetooth speaker out on some e scooter rides around London and I think fallen light, the cold n you ep or tides would be perfect for a chill midnight ride.anyway Happy New Year mate. 👍

Happy New Year! At the time, the label which released Fallen Light had spent a fair chunk of money on some promotional CDs (the afterglo 0.01 mix), and I think they basically got scared the album wasn't going to do well enough to cover the amount of money they'd already spent. Tbf, I think the CDs were more useful for promoting the album than a vinyl release would have been, but I do also know the time to have done vinyl was back then, as it's pretty hard to shift the same amount of units these days. I have considered doing it several times since then, but I honestly just don't have the level of interest in vinyl from my audience which would make it viable!

Risky remix since original track is efin legendary. That said - dBridge would be my only trustworthy option. And he succeeded.

Yeah I remember back in 2010 being really pleased that he'd taken it in a very different direction!

I appreciate the effort, and music is totally subjective to the listener, however from a technical standpoint, the vocals just feel off in pitch/vibe to the overall darker key/tone. Specifically in the intro the way they came in immediately made my ears go wait a second, this feels 20+ cents off in pitch or something. The tail end of the vocal hooks, "making it mine, making it mine" seem to just not fit in tone/key. It's all subjective, and I say this with peace and love brother! I like the darker themed remix concept though, I totally hear where the vision was going.

All good mate, I quite like the tension that the pitching provides in this version, as it compliments the more 'clean' nature of the original track which is was paired with on the vinyl release.
