If someone took money from you and misrepresented what they said they were selling you, you got scammed. If someone is selling a Rolex online and they say and believe it’s real and I buy it and it turns out to be fake, I got scammed! The onus is on the seller to make sure their representations are true, accurate, and in accordance with the law. Any misrepresentation is FRAUD!

I began looking at condos for sale. Then I learned that there is no such thing as a bonded escrow and title insurance in the Philippines. I immediately declared: “I’m out!”

To not file a lawsuit…gives them the power to scam another person besides you. At least consider using “scare tactics”. This way, you can determine if they intentionally scammed you or made an honest mistake.

My experience in the Philippines has taught me that everything you do there has to be triple checked. The government is corrupt. The justice system is corrupt. Good people get scammed all the time.

Well, you sound more composed now, Rubeauti. We all get scammed at one time or another. My take is: make the Best of it! Put them all to shame. Don't take rush actions. Give it long thoughts, discuss with others and start. Easy to say I guess, but that is my approach to a world that is somehow ever faster becoming ever more insane. Find someone who is a real builder and not just a scam bag. Take your time. You are young and beautiful. You have all the time you are willing to take.

Next thing you know one of the motorcyclists will wreck and get paralyzed on your property and will sue you. How does someone acquire land in the middle of nowhere that is B token up to multiple owners and none of them have legal access to it? It looks like government land to be honest. I would sue even if all the money ended up going to lawyer fees just to show they can’t be doing this to people.

Thank you for letting us know about what happened to you. Most people would hide the fact that they were taken advantage of but you have told the world that this can happen. Hang in there we are all on your side. Don't let this hurt you. Things can change for the better. You are a good person and trust comes naturally to you. This will pass and you will become a stronger person. Don't be let this stop you, move forward and take your time don't rush. Always check out everything when you do business. If they try to rush you stop the deal. Nothing that is done in a hurry is on the level.

Why is so many sugar coating this scam, and her stupidity for letting it happen to her and not go after what she believes to be agreed upon. Isn’t there paper work detailing the sale. Was there a realtor involved? People get what they got coming if you scam the wrong person. This is one of the biggest investments one can make you should consult a lawyer. How do you know that is your lot?

So glad you're being pragmatic about this, I know from experience that when a clan comes together here, there is little you can do to fight it. One thing that concerns me if one day you're planning to live there, is there access to water? Right of way is one thing, water is vital. Oh and you're absolutely right about the breeze lol, much needed.

2:26 I have no complaints about that view. Sure, it isn't 360 , but it is still nice seeing down to the water. The only advice I can give is to make good foundations so that if there is a mud slide, the house will still stand. I've lived on a sloped block for 20 years. The house is still standing strong and has an amazing view. You take it for granted but when people visit they are full on amazed. The secret with sloped land is to make sections flat and put good steps. Depending on the size, you can just make terraces.

Please always get help from someone that has experience in whatever you need to do in the future so that you can avoid these situations. Scammers come up with all kinds of different ways to get your money. In the end you learn a valuable lesson. So don't be so hard on yourself. Keep smiling and stay safe

Rubeauti, building on a slope is nowhere near impossible. One of the major things to consider is storm water runoff, it has to be deviated away from the house and any footings, plus proper drainage (as in weeping tile), especially for any concrete or stone walls. You obviously don't need to deal with freeze and thaw cycles, yet its rather important to make the footings as deep as possible to assure the home has good purchase on the hillside and will not move in the event of large rain events. Otherwise, that can ruin the structure over time if not done properly. It is indeed a beautiful spot and I can picture a nice home there. As long as you can sort the access/right of way issues, can get the materials up there as painlessly as possible and build in the highest possible part (helps with the view as well), I see this as viable. Trust me on this. I built a house on a rather aggressive slope and in Ontario, Canada. Deal with all four seasons and what they bring and no issues. Some thought I was out of my mind, yet I built it out over five years ago and everyone that visits loves the house, the views and privacy. Some are actually jealous. Avoid the naysayers and doubters and make a good solid plan to build your nest. It will not be easy for sure as no build is. Lots of moving parts and bureaucracy. I can imaging more so there. Always think about the desired result and work diligently to achieve it. I'm sure there are a lot of people that can advise you well without any nefarious intent and that you have the determination to pull this off. Looking forward to many updates!

Honestly you need a partner - more specifically a man. 9/10 men (I know) would have seen this and avoided it. You will continually be taken advantage of at every turn on this path. You will start second guessing the intentions of everyone.
