These drives will NEVER perform the same. Unless the controller is so cheap that it does not support more than one channel.

I had a simular machine years ago, it was a bit better, I think, never thought I could perhaps get our of the built in and get to DOS, of course back then I didn't understand what DOS was. Later I got a big 386 desk top and eventually put windows 95 on it, what a dog that turned into, gal in college bought it from me for what I had into it, I had picked up a 486 fo do my college work with, in my dorm room, it ran 95 great, another student purchased the floppy version and I made a copy, still have that somewhere around the house in a floppy disk box. Old machines are fun, I still have a few that I sell to folks who have expensive sewing machines that require these old laptops to operate although the owners seem to be dying off now days, hell I am over 70 now, lost all my siblings and my wife to cancer, even lost my right kidney to cancer a year ago.

I wouldn't use Chromium in Puppy Linux. Chromium is too bloated for most tech that you install Puppy Linux on. You want to use the Native browser that Puppy Linux comes with; it's so much faster and more effective than Chromium.

It's absolutely brilliant. If only it had an optional HDMI output as well, it'd be perfect! I'd love to see these expansions for other 8-bit micros, as this is seriously usable with a Linux distro running on it. We're even going to end up seeing Windows on ARM running on these things before long.

I just dug out my nearly 20 year old Mac mini and installed Sorbet Leopard! I installed an SSD using a SATA to IDE adapter. The thermal paste had turned into a rock hard resin. When trying to remove the heatsink I knocked 2 tiny capacitors off the board and had to solder new ones on. The DVD drive was seized and required lots of cleaning and greasing. But after all that! IT WORKS GREAT! The Sierra theme looks fantastic and it's really super quick! I'm sure I will find some uses for it, even if it's just as a basic media player. It's nice to have it working again after 12 years sitting unloved 😸

It is drawing 120mA from the +5V rail when not in use and 190mA when the Wi-Fi radio is on. This is pretty much in line with most expansion cards and nowhere near CFFA3000, which draws 500mA.

Only posting this because I didn't see anyone else mention it: FWIW, this thing is conceptually at least basically the same as Dave Schmenk's Apple2Pi project from about a decade ago. That thing was the talk of the town back then, I'm kind of surprised it hasn't seemed to have come up. I was actually surprised that it wasn't what this video was about. This adds the relay to switch the composite video/sound outputs between the Apple II and the ESP32, and I'm sure it "feels" more bare metal given it's not running a fully blown Linux environment on an even *more* powerful CPU, so... is what it is. If an ARM-based emulator that uses your Apple II as an input device is what you're in the market for this is certainly an interesting take on it.
