Is it possible to change the FJ gear to the Land Cruiser gear with 5 changes? 🤔
Hi Jason I’m doing a 60 series disc brake conversion , can you tell me what bearing / seal kit you bought ? 45 or 60 series or are they both the same ? Colin
Comparing a 40 with and without the sound deadening how much difference did it make? I’m particularly interested in shorties as I’m contemplating putting it in my BJ42. Will you put it in your LX restoration? Will you stop at the rear of the seats or keep going?
G’day Jase. Can you recall if the bushes for the barn doors are the same as the bushes for the front doors and bonnet hinges mate? Cheers, Brad
@bradgqute Hi mate, from memory, they are different. But it was 3 years ago, so my memory has failed me before.🤣 I have go and check.
Do yourself a favour. Get the turbo inlet manifold. It creates soooo much more room
Heyyyyyyyyyy amazing. On behalf of youtube could you thank the help for us. Cheers
Happy birthday drew 🍻
@jackfreeman3264 Yep, no better way to spend a birthday than working on a 40 series! 🎊
Congratulations! That’s a big step!
I always get excited seeing a new build making progress!
@BRATPAC1 thanks, me too!
Your gonna need to block the other coolant fitting near the oil sensor, but looks awesome in there that’s for sure
@NickyB5411 I tee it into the heater system as a bypass, so the 40 series heater core doesn't get too much pressure.
Moving forward 🙂
Good video but it would be interesting to understand why the McKinnon mounts didn’t work well…
Pretty sure it was because Jayson was using an original 40 series power steering and box rather than a 60 series which is what the mounts are designed for.
@@47Rolling yes that is correct! Thanks mate
Awesome as Jason
Now you just need to do a disc rear My hj47 was standard disc front I'd love disc rear !!
Did you use the setup from the 79 series?
Watching these on repeat while im doing the job
Nice one,
Gold jason
Do you have to change the coil to do this?
You can use exhaust studs as well. Cut the thread off one end drill and tap the aluminum and screw in from the inside until the shoulder of the stud is firm against the housing. $8
Suggestion clean backing plate at shoe contact points & add a Little grease to those positions, also grease shoe where contacts wheel cylinder pistons and adjuster . By adding grease to all those locations the brakes work better and it can eliminate the squeal noise as brakes applied. A major consideration for safety would be to replace all flexible rubber brake hoses on a vehicle due to age & externally & internally perished also can be rusted where hose crimped to fittings . Hoses chassis to axle housings and front at swivel hubs . On a brake job Consider all hydraulic components in brake system due to age ,moisture ingress ,corrosion, piston rubber seals perished , cylinders pitted both wheel and master & calliper . Leave wheel cylinder bleed nipple cracked open when fitting shoes & connecting return spring, easier to compress cylinder pistons and don't get guts full of air back up tube / pipe. SST - Brake adjusting tool 09704-10010 (number may superced) if available still or similar tool makes life easier especially on front drum brake vehicles, best genuine special service tool i ever purchased for my drum brake freedom machine. A all-round drum brake cruiser that has its brake system in good condition and components perfect working order , will stop nicely , lock up all wheels if you want it too , with not much effort / put you through the windscreen. Land Cruiser 40 infinitely repairable !
Good video! What material is the replacement pin?
@@bjones5240Hi mate, it is steel, same as the original pins
With the outer race mate try throw them in the freezer the night before you want to install them, they basically fall in 👍
Mate, really good and informative video - great work 👍
Great job. I hadn’t heard about this kit. Thanks for sharing
What a great kit! I wonder how many gear changes those old pins have supported 😮
@CH-in9lj yep, I would say alot, after I get everything up and running, I plan to rebuild the box at some stage.
Hope your doing well with the build. Keep up the good work.
Thanks mate, coming along.
Can you do this job with the gearbox still inside the car?
@johnfowler5012 Yes, sure can.
Great informative and detailed video. Very easy to follow... Will check back in oneday when my 60 needs this.
@@charlesparker924 thank mate.
Ive been waiting in anticipation for more on this build
@braydeny more coming, just editing the installation of the barra video.
3.46 “ aluminium is such a soft steel “ 😉😀😀😀😬😀 good on you mate ! I love your work!. Ps , Any news from these owner of the Fj you sold a tear or two ago?
PPS I hope I m not seen a being rude. There is no way I could do what your doing!
@garydavo07 Yes, a slip up, I know when I said it, I stuffed up but just keep filming. 😂 (soft alloy) Good pickup.
Awesome as mate 👍
What an ordeal! Nice work though on a miserable Bathurst Winters day
Great information
Engine conversions can be frustrating at times. Feeling like you’re getting nowhere. My advice would be to do whatever you can twist some wires together to just make the engine makes some noise for 5 seconds. It’ll give you the encouragement to continue the build 😎 as always keep up the good work love seeing these videos 👍
Nice video thanks
Awesome work mate! I've got one just like that to repair. Feeling motivated to get that going now
My tip is to ask for help. Your there for every one else and now you need some support
Thinking about it is still working bro. Allow yourself time to rest and think about it in winter. You will get that rig to the big dry drive thing
Great job on the camper, it'll look great behind minty reckon she'll lend it
That trailer build looks amazing! Minty is going to be a beast with that “new” motor
Thanks, I'm very proud of my daughter and the work she has done on the camper. Yep, I can't wait to drive Minty with the new motor.
So much done, you're an inspiration to us all.
Thanks,
Plenty done mate
Hey mate. Wondering if you can help me out on a brake issue. A new brake master cylinder was installed in my 40 prior to purchasing it, and all was good with the brakes. Then I noticed a weeping at the cup seals, so I replaced the seals and then the brakes felt they were not all braking equally. So I bled the brakes and then my troubles started. The brake pedal goes slightly hard at halfway to the floor then drops to the floor with a hiss under the dash. I'm thinking maybe a return valve in the booster of something like that but why did it happen after bleeding? Any ideas? Thanks for. great channel. MGW - Prince Edward Island - Canada
Thanks again, im finally ready to move forward on this front end
that screw driver is your biggest risk. if that puts a point load on the edge of the glass you are done.
Where whould i find the luggage scale you used?
handbrake cable part number?
Can you post a link to the gutters used?
This video came up just in time....i'm about to go from softtop to hardtop...i recently bought the upper side panels and the rear tailgate...those were the parts missing....thanks for the video very helpful .
Awesome as Jason 🍻👍
I enjoy watching your video's. Keep them coming because it motivates me.
