I would always stay with Toyota, since Ford has a horrible reputation. But it seems like youre already too deep in the swap. I hope you are lucky with rhe engine and dont get too many Problems. I am keen to see the process of an Engineswap in a 40 Series. Would love to drop a 1hz or a 1hdt in a 40 one day.

Hopefully, we don't have too many issues. The Ford Barra motor is Renound for being bulletproof and getting a million kms. I hope this is the case for us, too.

I’m seriously looking in to doing this conversion in my hj60. Though I’m not sure if I want turbo or NA. Watching you do the conversion will hopefully answer the few questions I have.

It all comes down to you are after and how much money you are well to spend. I'm just after a Touring Cruiser is the NA should be mire then enough for us.

Awesome decision thanks Jase! Looking forward to watching this. I’ll be really keen to hear the pluses and minuses of the swap (low end torque?). Also will it plug straight in to your previous H55 swap or does the trans need to be moved? Thanks for your time!!

I realize Ford barra is from Ford Australia… I’m in the States, and up here FORD=Found On Road Dead… just sayin’ … why not stay Toyota?

Interesting choice. Please explain how you came to your decision to swap in the barra. I wanted to swap in a diesel into my 40 and stay with Toyota. It was suggested that I use a 13, 14, or 15b and stay away from 1KZ. I would have liked a 15bt without electronics, but the were expensive. I found plenty of 14b’s for cheap and plan to add the turbo later on. Anyway, I thought it would be simple and straightforward being all Toyota, but swaps are never easy. Please go into detail of the hurdles you have to cross with clearence and compatibility issues. Keep up the good work.

That would be an awesome build, I do love the 1UZ but getting very hard and expensive to find, let alone get parts in Australia.

Will the ford motor be lighter than the the 2f motor you might get minty under 2 tonne yet

If you take the wings off would that help ???

Why not another Toyota engine? but more efficient engine than a 2F.

hey i have a 2f dat has not started in a while becuz my fj40 is painting over.... now its not starting for some reason only cranking... any help with this bro please?... the battery is good... i feel is air in the line but idk how to check?

Distributor is 180⁰ out. That's the most common mistake people make.

actually it was a relay ... i wired over the electrical in the van now with proper relays an it working bess now

A Barra is an Australian made 6 cylinder Ford motor from the falcon range. They are a very strong motor with the turbo version producing huge numbers.
