We spend 4 days cleaning up with @chemtools-australia and @robsonstoolking washing and prepping for Paint, only a short video to save you watching hours of cleaning, sanding, prepping, and painting, using wire wheels on grinders and drills then cleaning up with Rust converter, and wax and grease remover then finishing of with sand paper to bring up a smooth finish to prime with ZPH and finally top coat with NPR Black on the base and Red on the firewall.

That tub is in surprisingly good shape for a 1965. Hard to believe its not eaten through with rust. Fun watching you guys work!

It was stored in a fire shed for the first half of it's lifetime and then in a farm shed out west. This has helped it be 95% rust free.
As always fun to watch and I learn a lot

Very cool! I’m following this build! I’m currently pretty deep into my fj40 build as well. It’s neat to see one that is not fully rusted out before the restoration.

Nice work Team! Jase did you strip all the paint off with the wire wheel or just use it to smooth out the surface before repainting?

Stripped the rusty areas back to metal best we could and clean painted areas back to smooth, close to original primer and metal. Then rust converter, oxidise primer, and zinc paint as top coat.
Hey mate, love the channel. I’m at the point of paint on a hj45 and interested in how many litres do you go through on a full cab spray,

Thanks Greg, I haven't finish painting the Ute Cab, but the FJ40 Cab we used around 3L for full spray and for the Troopy FJ45 closed door spray was only about 1.5L
Hey mate. Are you going to upgrade the FJ to disk front? I just thought you may have stitched in a firewall from a later model to take in a bigger brake booster.

Chemtools NPR, Galvanising Paint can also be used directly to clean metal, give awesome corrosion protection, and look fantastic too!
