The skill these men have is extraordinary! That arch looks as though it's been there for hundreds of years!

Those cats look so acceptingly trustful when they occupy your bed and chirp and stretch when you come to visit. It is a testimony to your love for them and their love for you. I am a cat person since age 3 and am old now. I love cats.

I think when those people look back at their hand work thousands of years ago, they will be so pleased that you left some of their work exposed. That if perfect imperfection as you said, glad you did that to honour those before you. 😊💯💢

I can't tell you how impressed I am with the quality of the work that the masons are doing. And gee, if I could be reborn as one of your kitties, I would be in seventh heaven. Everything is looking fantastic both inside and out. I'm getting anxious to see it complete. That ole elephant is getting smaller and smaller.

The inside of the water mill is starting to take on the look of grandness! Beautiful! Love the pillars and the arches also the deep window and door frames. In the end you two would be happy in a cave as long as you have each other. You deserve your beautiful dream castle-watermill.

I can’t help but wish that the mill still worked so we could see it. But also, it’d be the coolest off grid energy producer hooked up to a generator.

Guys the arch is beautiful, and adds a great focal point when you first enter the house.👍🏾

The interior is looking so good! I love the combination of plaster and stone to still keep the rich texture of the stone, but the plastered areas look clean and contemporary. The combination keeps it from looking like you are living in a stone cave! The arch looks so much like a Renaissance-Gothic influence! Your squash, or melons are growing like crazy! You can eat the flowers too! Love your kitties. It is nice that they are comfortable going in and out of the mill and sleep with you❣️❤

Running water sounds are always beautiful. But the plastering has its own rhythmic music. Really soothing, especially knowing it's the song of progression toward completion of your lovely magical mill home.

I lived in Germany for 4 years and traveled all over Europe. I visited many castles 🏰 and museums. I love watching old world craftsmanship at work 👍. If there's ever a forest fire, your castle will survive. Great job.... can't wait to see the final job.

I love hearing the water running down the stream! I like seeing the number /8! My mom had a salt ox moved to my home town and built a huge addition .The beams in the bathroom they kept the numbers showing in the beams ! Very nice memory !

3 Architecture fans in our house - we all vote for paint - there is such a beautiful contrast between the flat plaster so beautifully done and the Stone of the Mill it creates energy like a chord of music - plus the guys put so much love in to getting the plaster right it will feel like a hug just looking at it in years to come :o)

The plastered walls look amazing, I think a nice lime wash on them would go really well with the exposed stone walls ☺️

Our very old home growing up had thick plaster walls with archways. I loved the archways that had built-in shelves waist high to head high. What lived there changed throughout the year including beautiful holiday decorations that were well protected but easily accessible as you passed thru the archway. Your build is very creative & beautiful!

You have a nice view from the yoga corner but it looks like there’s a beautiful open spot on the other side of the creek. All the eucalyptus clearing and brush clearing opened up a beautiful little terrace. I was wondering what those melons were. 😉 Are your builders using cement based or lime based products? The walls look so smooth. They are awesome craftsmen. How about some lime wash on the walls instead of regular paint. The color of that plaster isn’t too bad IMO. And Adobe or Cobb structures maybe outside for your future chickens or something? 15 years together! Wow. I think it’s more like 30 years. Because most couples have at least 8 hours a day away from one another but you both work together as well so hey that counts for more. 😅 You’re an awesome couple and I do wish you all the health, happiness and a long beautiful adventurous life. ❤

Hey, if you haven't committed to painting the walls yet, I would suggest that instead of conventional paint, you consider using a lime ("cal") wash, which has several advantages over paint: it is breathable and so won't trap humidity behind it, which can lead to bubbling and flaking; it is clean and healthy (no weird synthetic chemicals); it inhibits mould growth as it is mineral and alkaline; it is a lot cheaper than synthetic paint; it is traditional. The main drawback is that it can rub off more easily than paint, however this can be minimised by adding a fixative agent to it (similar to white glue), which you can easily find in Portugal. Some people also add boiled linseed oil to it or animal fat to make it more resistant. You can also add mineral powders in various colours, such as blue, red, yellow, etc. if you want a coloured surface: people often do this for a pleasant and mellow pastel-like colour.

Those cracks in the "reboco" are normal since the cement tends to shrink when it dries out. Sometimes they retouch them before painting, other times they let the paint fill the gaps.

I so love watching your progress and to see such excitement and gratefulness shown is truly wonderful I wish you both an amazing journey and happiness in your amazing home that your creating,I noticed that the cats are becoming more homely

You might add newspaper or any paper in the circuit boxes so that you don't have break out the cement wall covering out of them. It's a lot easier and finishing will be cleaner and tighter.
