    Yeah, lemonbutter is lacking here. We have lemony-buttery sauces, but not the same. But we *do* eat rice with fish. Or potatoes. It's not *just* mash. I can't remember a power outage in the last 10 years here in southern Sweden. Load shedding doesn't even have a word in Swedish.

    I am from Durban and have lived in Sweden for around 45 plus years in a town of today around 58 000 people and during this time we have only been without electricity both due to planned cut offs for maintenance and due to storms a maximum of around 15 hours. We live on the west coast.

    I ONLY eat Fish with mash exactly 1 time per year. And that's on 24 december. Then we have oven-roasted salmon with mashed potatoes. It's my family's one and only "religious" thing we do. I'm catholic (on paper) and, they apparently don't eat meat on christmas day. When we have fish on any other day we eather have it with cooked potatoes or rice. NEVER mash..

    I don't know what lemonbutter is obviously but we have a sauce called Hollandaise that is also with lemon and butter and very popular to fish.

    The price is all about what you buy. I have friend that travel to Sweden to buy wine that is made in the same region that they live in. And it’s cheaper here and you can guarantee find it here. That’s because the Systembolaget is the world’s largest buyer of booze, wine and beer in the world so they are always guaranteed to get deliveries of all brands. However, pure alcohol such as Whiskey and Vodka is subject to a high tax, and there is a reason for that. Like so much else in Sweden, there is a thought behind it, alcohol costs society a lot of money in the long run. And Swedes, they don't leave half-full bottles standing...

  • @stiglarsson8405
    @stiglarsson84052 ай бұрын

    To explain Systembolaget.. its a goverment run store.. and prices is based on tax on alcohol! So the profit/tax get straight to our goverment.. how then have to spend that and other taxes to our universal healtcare/whealtfare system! Its a compromise, people want to get drunk or tasting nice wine or nice spirits.. there is always a dark side about addictive substances.. and in sweden it often ends up in our healt/whealt system.. for those few, and there familys! They have the same system in Norway and Finnland, in Norway its "Vinmonopolet" in Finnland its "Alco"! And then to tobaco.. the price is allmoste taxes even at "Snus" to pay at least a part of the cost to our healt care system! One dont get lungcancer of Snus, but its more addictive and one can get lip cancer or stomage cancer! Its kinda the same way with petrol and diesel.. moste of it is taxes, that supose to be spended to keep our roads nice and safe!

  • @EnergyCuddles
    @EnergyCuddles2 ай бұрын

    The point of snus is also that it will not cause lung disease, and unlike with smoking, people in the vicinity won't risk being affected by passive smoke inhalation. Snus was banned in the EU in 1993 - upon Sweden's accession into the EU in 1995, the country was exempt from the ban and it is still allowed here. It's also why Sweden has the lowest percentage of smokers in the EU, with just 9.3% of Swedes smoking on a daily basis, compared to the EU average of almost 20%. 😉 Oh, how lovely that SVT has taken interest in you! I shall look forward to seeing you on the TV screen then 😄

  • @michaellust
    @michaellust2 ай бұрын

    It will be so fun to see what SVT has done for you. Me, myself, I like them so I look forward to it. Systembolaget is kinda special, but I think in the long run it's a good idea. All Nordic countries has it so. And if you live far from it you can order online and get it sent to the local store.

  • @erik....
    @erik....2 ай бұрын

    Most of the price you pay in Systembolaget is taxes, for example a 250kr Vodka will cost them around 40kr to buy and they make 10kr per bottle, so 200kr taxes. This wouldn't change even if there wasn't a monopoly so it would still be expensive.

    The thing about alcohol and systembolaget, in sweden it use to be a mayor problem with alcoholism it was even common to get paid in alcohol. The way to get that sorted (short story) was that the goverment took care of by forbid people to make their own and everyone have to buy it in a special storeto a very high price. The thing is nowadays it is the best liquorstre in the world. You can get anything you want just by ordering it if it is not availible in your local store. It is also very good for buying wine, systembolaget is the biggest buyer in the world and buys very good wine to a low price. That means you can get very good wine for a low price compared to other countries.

    Snus is better if you care about others, no one else will be passive exposed of like smoke and get COPD or lung cancer.

    Snus is wildly addictive and most kids up here get hooked in there late teens and continue on... But yeah the point about the cold is valid, but there's also a big cultural element to it, specially here in the North ;)

    Thanks - really helpful. I had to do the PTO seal on our 1959 4Cyl the other day so I dropped the level of the oil by one bucket. It wasn't milky, but the oil was mid brown in colour. When I went to put the oil back in there was quite a lot of silt in the bottom of the bucket so I'm thinking it wants the oil changing, especially as there is no filter (pre 1962). I know that the previous owner had the engine rebuilt, but never did anything to the gearbox, and the previous owner had the tractor since 1970ish, so goodness only knows when it was last changed. I have new boots for the gear selectors, but did you find any O-ring or gasket around the filler cap? It looks like there maybe should be one, but there is nothing present on mine. perhaps I should add one...?

  • @stevew108

    I have a 1958 Massey Ferguson 35 and was going through changing the hydraulic oil and came across the situation of not being able to find the filter inside the gearbox. I was worried that it was serviced and someone forgot to put in a new filter. I was struggling looking through the hole where the PTO selector switch plate is... Thank you for your video, it eased my mind.

    I know that this video is a bit old but i still have a question. Thirty years ago in northen sweden we had all our tv-chanels from satelites. When those antennas where mounted we always had to mount them under the overhanging roof to avoid problems with the snow. I wonder if it is posible to do something similar with a starlink antenna ? I have not tried starlink myself but is thinking about it. Best regards.

    Thanks for sharing. I live on the outskirts of Sydney Australia and we are only just now, seeing home invasions becoming a thing. We have zero security and can't imagine having to sleep with all those security measures (and still not feel safe). Most burglaries here happen because many don't lock their front doors. The criminals here (especially 14 to 17 year olds) get away with serious crimes as they are too young to be trialled as adults.

    Appreciate the new video! Commented on the old one, as we were moving to north of Arvidsjaur to a house with no prospect of getting fiber in the next 5 years. Decent 4G, but perhaps not always enough during evenings and weekends when sharing with other villagers. Considering Starlink as an alternative source now when the coverage seems better (satellites aligned better?) and subscription prices are slightly lower. Not sure about the new dish however without any alignment motor, but worth a try. Unfortunately we are in a more forest-y area with low mountains as well, so suspect we might not get as consistent results as what you’re getting. Well see! Cheers again for the video!

    We call these armed intruder gangs ironically " Democratic Shoppers ". To 99.9 % they are black males. This video showed in a very good way the various layers you establish for your defence. These layers are buying you time to contact your armed response company as well as getting yourself ready to be able to defend your family. Your security conscious and alert mindset needs to operate 24/7 . Beautiful country that had great potential , but was sadly destroyed by the thieving , corrupt and totally useless ANC / Communist government.

    Great review! Sad to hear that it did' nt live up to expectations. We are looking for a house in the northern Sweden right now above Haparanda. But since internet is really important for me and my work i need to try to find a solid solution and i was hoping StarLink would work up there. The place we have been looking at is in the middle of the forest so hoping for fiber i think is being to positive. How is the 4G working up there?
