I practice in a nearby field hitting 45 and 95 yards distances, with my 52 wedge. On course,I constantly at distances near those yards.the more I practice, the more I get dialed in.

I put 2 of your 4 steps in play this morning. Setting the ball opposite my right big toe and slowing down but adding a longer swing. I truly have not hit the ball so straight in many years. I think the consistent ball position was the key for me. Many thanks.

Agree, if you look at putting analytics, at 8 ft. the pro's are 50% thus practice 8ft and in to make it, and then move to 30-40 ft and practice the line and pace to get inside the 3 ft circle. It's a folly game to practice 8-30' the stats say you can rarely make it.

What about swing speeds for irons. My swing speed is around 78-83mph. Would you suggest reg or stiff?

I completely stopped my slice by changing my swing. Just started playing golf and was swinging my driver like my irons. Didn't realize there are two different swings. Plus I turn my wrists over just a tad at contact, which I now hit a nice fade almost every time.

I don't normally watch instruction videos, but had a quick scan through this one and thought nothing more of it. On my round yesterday, I was having an absolute nightmare, and after losing more than a couple of balls (our course set up is really penal right now) I stood on the 9th tee, and remembered this tip, and thought I've got nothing to lose, so I'll give it a go. OMG!! Tee shot after tee shot, dead straight and going 265+. Irons were on my numbers and straight too. Guess I'll be checking that knuckle from now on. Thank you Alex!

You say to line up on the right big toe but in the video it looks like you’re lining up on the right little toe. Is this just some camera shenanigans or what bc if I’m to line up with the ball one club head behind my lead foot that’s several inches back from where my big toe would be if my feet were together.

  • @m.m.8497

It’s really confusing for ball positions because some coaches say tee it up higher and on outside your toe for big draw bombs.

A slight bumping forward of the left hip is pure gold for compressing iron shots. Is it the same for the driver? Or is there more than one swing depending on the club. For the average golfer. Not best in the world golfers

? Ball in line with the right big toe, is in result max. 1 inch right from the left food heel, but not 1 clubhead from there. If the ball in line with the right small toe would result in a distance of one club width from the left heel. Is that really what you mean?

  • @kenbrown2808

how narrow is your foot? my big toe, alone is over an inch wide.

  • @m.m.8497

It is normally recommended to place the ball on the inside of the heel of the left foot. The inside of the left foot is directly adjacent to the inside of the right foot and therefore also to the right big toe if you place both feet next to each other as shown in the video. As a result, the ball would be almost on the inside of the left foot again. Poorly explained, poorly filmed in my opinion.

Hey Alex, thanks for the video. I try to keep a single swing for all clubs and simply modify setup for my different types of shots. One issue I think I have when I try your method is my head goes past the ball given the above this is why with driver I usually place ball forward which is costing me distance I believe. Can you confirm ball to far forward will kill distance with driver and can you supply a method to keep my head behind the ball when I move the ball back farther in my stance? (would widening my stance an extra club head width for driver do it?)

Weaken your grip... The ball will start on a path dictated by face angle and move away from the path of your swing. So a pull left (draw/hook) means the have is closed on an in to out swing. Weaken the grip out open up the face

Just keep in mind this will promote a fade given the body position will naturally start out to in. As such you need to think harder about bringing your backswing in to out - unless of course you don’t mind the fade. Given most amateurs are slicers this could make it worse.
