It took me forever to unsub from things like Fairyloot, but I find that if there is ever a book I want that I can just find someone selling that book, so I don't miss it, even though they are gorgeous. I want to do my book log the way you did next year. Hope I remember! It's hard to believe this is your first journal - it looks amazing!

It took me a long time to get over having it to be "perfect" but also allowing myself to make things as simple as I need, so that I do continue to use it. If it's too much work, it won't last for me 😂 but I sit down with it 1 maybe 2 days a month to do layouts and just my typical trackers as I finish a book

I have used this journal ... I actually love it! Since I still have some Notebook Therapy journals to use, I went back to them. Journaling is my creative output too ... I love creating pages every month for my reading journal. I have set spreads that I add to my reading journal, and ONLY did this when I honed into what works for me. *it took me a while

I absolutely LOVE your moody and divine feminine spreads 🤩 They are so original and, as a serious mood reader also, I made versions of each for my own reading journal with books from my physical tbr (which is way too long 😅🙈) A side note as you’re tracking and diversifying your reads: “BIPOC/Indigenous” is redundant, as the “I” in BIPOC stands for Indigenous!

These are some great choices! You've got me adding SOOO much to my TBR list! 😭🤣 I hope you don't mind me mentioning that Lamesa is pronounced Luh-MAY-suh. I'm in Texas and we have quite a few towns and cities that have names that are just a little bit tricky to pronounce including Watauga, Mexia, Balmorhea, Gruene, to name a few. Watauga is pronounced Wuh-TAW-guh and a friend of my dad's who was from the East coast once pronounced it "WAH-duh-OO-guh", so that's how my family says it now, haha. 😆 Also, a Librarian colleague of mine took some of Stephen Graham Jones's classes in college and has absolutely nothing but wonderful things to say about him as both a teacher and a person. Just makes you like an author even more when you hear things like that.

I've got Smothermoss on hold from the library right now, SO excited for this one! And I read an ARC of Mystery Lights last month and it was outstanding, but I will say if you like your stories tied up neatly and tidily wrapped up, it may not be your thing. I love short stories that seem to plop you right in the middle of a larger narrative, so that you don't quite have a familiarity of how things started and maybe you don't get much a resolution, either. The kind of story where the author let's you peek through the door into someone's life and just when you're getting really intrigued--BAM!--they slam the door in your face. That's sort of what Mystery Lights did and I totally loved it.

😈 Not me catching up on videos a million years after people post them. I went back and forth about signing up for the readathon and I'm glad I didn't. I would have failed everyone so bad. I usually read 5-10 books per month. May I think I read 2. 😅

Lexie does have it set up so people input how much they typically read, and so as long as people read their typical amount, it counts just as much as people that normally read 15+ books! I just got excited and read wayyyy more than I typically do lol. I'm usually around 8-10 depending on the size books I'm picking up. But I slumped hard in June 😅

Witchy, romance, thriller and horror etc. I'm not majorly picky. But the nature type stuff def. Sounds good.. with the magic mixed in. 😊

Shes not one of my faves but I'll definitely give it a chance Devils kill devils was NOT what I expected at all. I still don't know how I feel about it lol. Watauga is pronounced Wuh-TAW-guh and a friend of my dad's who was from the East coast once pronounced it "WAH-duh-OO-guh", so that's how my family says it now, haha. 😆 Also, a Librarian colleague of mine took some of Stephen Graham Jones's classes in college and has absolutely nothing but wonderful things to say about him as both a teacher and a person. Just makes you like an author even more when you hear things like that.

I've got Smothermoss on hold from the library right now, SO excited for this one! And I read an ARC of Mystery Lights last month and it was outstanding, but I will say if you like your stories tied up neatly and tidily wrapped up, it may not be your thing. I love short stories that seem to plop you right in the middle of a larger narrative, so that you don't quite have a familiarity of how things started and maybe you don't get much a resolution, either. The kind of story where the author let's you peek through the door into someone's life and just when you're getting really intrigued--BAM!--they slam the door in your face. That's sort of what Mystery Lights did and I totally loved it.

😈 Not me catching up on videos a million years after people post them. I went back and forth about signing up for the readathon and I'm glad I didn't. I would have failed everyone so bad. I usually read 5-10 books per month. May I think I read 2. 😅
Lexie does have it set up so people input how much they typically read, and so as long as people read their typical amount, it counts just as much as people that normally read 15+ books! I just got excited and read wayyyy more than I typically do lol. I'm usually around 8-10 depending on the size books I'm picking up. But I slumped hard in June 😅

@@WickedScorpio I've obviously read things throughout my life and liked it as a child but I just started my reading journey at the end of March.. now I cannot stop. 😂 I'm mainly fantasy but I dabble in other genres. Witchy, romance, thriller and horror etc. I'm not majorly picky. But the nature type stuff def. Sounds good.. with the magic mixed in. 😊

I read the ARC of Smothermoss, and it’s really good if you like lush, literary horror. I adored it, but I feel like it’s a book that a lot of people will not like because it’s not “traditional horror.” Thanks for sharing this list with us!

But Im not a fan of slashers so I'm so conflicted. But his writing is everything to me so I'll probably still pick it up House of bone and rain is one of my most anticipated reads. I loved his last book and that coverrrrr 🙌👏 I'm sooo interested to see how Rachel Harrison takes on vampires. Shes not one of my faves but I'll definitely give it a chance Devils kill devils was NOT what I expected at all. I still don't know how I feel about it lol. I rated it three stars cause I didn't love it but I didn't hate it. Very interesting story. I can't wait to see your reaction on the character Angelo 🤭🤣
They practically were 😂 I started the ARC and turns out it's not really a reality TV set up, just cameras to observe so that was a little bit of a bummer. I wanted a H20 thing going on lol. But im not done with it yet. Did you read my heart is a chainsaw by him? I knew you would be all over house of bone and rain! It sounds so good. I am a little nervous for so thirsty bc cackle was the last I read from her so she needs a redemption in my head lol.
