Girl yes! I 100% agree with you on Bright Young Women. Too much of him when I thought there wouldn't be any, and why add the attack? Profiting on real life trauma always rubs me the wrong way. I did give it 4 stars for the writing, themes, and commentary. You bring up such a good point about the lack of an author's note, and it honestly makes me want to lower my rating a bit. Go Game Jesters! We should know the end results soon and I'm so excited! You were such a great host! And yes, no matter what - WE ESCAPED! 🎯🥳

At the end of the day, we just really didn't need another piece of "entertainment" surrounding these cases without ANY of the things I mentioned. There should be an authors note no less than 15 pages for something like this imo. Even nat cassidy explained why he chose to write mary and talk about menopause and that didn't have anything to do with actual true crime 😅 Tysm vita 🥹🫶🏻 but of course we still took the victory 🤪🎯🎉

You are such a loving plant mama! What a smart thing to do by just chucking them all in the sink and water at once 😂 I’m still honing my green thumb! Oh my gosh I was your little journaling buddy!! 😂 Dang, it’s June and you’ve been keeping up with your journal. So many people abandon a monthly reading tracker. I’m so impressed! Side note: I love your arcade game spread. That font is adorbs! 🤩 I feel like I would have appreciated the commentary in BYW if I finished it based on your explanation of what was included. I DNFed it pretty early because I just wasn’t emotionally up for opening the female wound ya know 😂 I loved your ETR videos! Also I can relate to your bad mental health day mid way through the vlog. Idk if it’s what you were dealing with but for me, my PMS is HORRENDOUS for my hormones and therefore my mood. Literally over flowing with anxiety and doom 😂 It’s great! Have a wonderful start to June 🪴🍉☀️

More like lazy plant mama 🤣🤣 they have to adapt to my ways or they don't make it lmao Always have to have a journaling buddy 🥰 I'm honestly so surprised I have kept up with it, but it's been such a great creative outlet for me. Very low maintenance compared to a lot of other things I have tried and given up. The female wound is all too real 😅 Literally, the next day after filming that clip, I got my period. Immediately, I was like "well that makes sense." The pms hits me so hard, but I've been in denial my whole life and told it's not a real thing 🫠 Just more joys of being a woman 💕

Woohoo!!! You guys did awesome for Escape the Readathon!!! 🎉🎉🎉 Bright Young Woman does walk a fine line. It infuriated me! But I don't think I've ever read a crime/drama book that addressed the misogynistic society we live in. The Stranger Beside Me by Ann Rule really focused on the victims but also him 🙄 I always feel bad for the victims families when new serial killer stuff comes out. The Dahmer Netflix one is so sad, bc a family really didn't want that to be made. I think Day of the Door was one of my favs this month too!! 🤗🤗🤗

  • @WickedScorpio

It was the first time I was on the winning team 😂😂 I think the misogynistic commentary is great and important to talk about, but let's just apply it to a fully fictionalized story or fully true story instead of partially rewriting true crime. Ya know? The lack of authors note and addressing the victims is what really made me more mad 😅 The day of the door was my only 5 star!

The audiobook for The Exorcist is THE way to go with that one! I listened to it and I’m so so glad I did. It’s a favorite of mine. There are just scenes from the book that reading it physically just doesn’t hit as hard as the audio. It’s an experience and one of my faves! And I cannot watch or read about a story that’s “based” on true crime. I just find the documentary because they give me all the things I want while being respectful. I will not watch the Dahmer series

I will definitely listen to it with the audio! It helps that I have no choice since I don't own it 😂 Totally agree with you!! I typically always do a documentary too. I only gave bright young women a chance bc of how people were talking about it, but it ended up feeling just as gross

I have A Fate Inked in Blood on my list to read for June. But I've also had my eye on Stone blind. I love Medusa and learning more about her story and unfairly she was treated. Hearing your thoughts on Bright Young Women I think I'd have very similar feelings. I never watched the Jeffrey Dahmer Netflix series either because fictionalizing true crime just feels weird to me? Like is it showing respect to the victims and their families or almost romanticizing the serial killer?....Also knowing that there wasn't a note or anything in the book to talk about the victims or their families seems really strange to me...especially when they story revolves around one of his most gruesome attacks

  • @WickedScorpio

Yay, we'll be almost buddy reading it 😂🖤 yesss that is exactly why I picked up stone blind. I need to know more about her story. Yeah, at the end of the day, we just really didn't need another form of "entertainment" surrounding these cases. Without an authors note or anything, it really feels just as gross as the drama shows. Honestly, I should've given it an even lower rating because the more I think about it, the more I get mad that she didn't address anything at all.

@@WickedScorpio Heck yeah! 💕 And her story is amazing and heartbreaking. It definitely changed my opinion on who the "monsters" are in her story. Okay now I've convinced myself I need to read this book soon lol Exactly and totally understandable. I feel like sometimes I need more time to fully process my thoughts on a book before I can give it a solid rating
