    I'm guessing you have put a slower running motor on the 1 x 30's for more control and less heat?

  • @Samsmobilesharpening
    @Samsmobilesharpening7 күн бұрын

    You can use them with the stock motor. I personally would not run it edge leading if I was using this motor though. But edge trailing and no pressure. I get no heat on the blade. But I will say the slower running motor would help with the belt chatter at the higher grits. I plan on building a Frankenstein 1x30 one of these days with a dc motor so it can adjust speed and direction. 😊 but as long as you are careful the stock motor is totally ok to sharpen knives.

    The brush is extremely effective! I learned the trick from salon scissor sharpening. Made a huge difference! Especially when you are trying to keep a toothy edge when stropping. I’ve stopped using the worksharp. Honestly the cost for the unit as well as the belts is not worth it. The 1x30 or 1x42 belts are basically the same cost but last exponentially longer. Honestly is worksharp made the Ken onion in a 1x30 or 1x42 I would look into that. But it started falling apart after a year. And the motor was not really suited for long term running. @@redangrybird7564 I like where your Heads at! Always in the pursuit of making things better. 😊 I’ve seen some people mix it with vegetable glycerine, and propylene glycol thinning with water. My only concerns would be mold like you said. Or ants. I get sugar ants really bad every year! No matter what ya do they are a problem out here. Probably one of my least favorite insects. Along with wasps.

    A dull knife will catch and drag. Requiring you to apply more force to finish the cut. Reducing your control. Dull knives tend to eventually fly into your other hand.

    I really like that answer! Especially the last bit. 😂😂😂 I’ve known a few buddies that that has happened to. You think it’s magic at first, but then you realize it’s just a dull knife.

    I use Jende 4 Microb Polydiamond and get excellent results. Without watching the video, I can only imagine your making a similar emulsion mix with the stropping compound and alcohol as a carrier agent amirite? 🙂

    Yep you nailed it! I also plan on talking about some of the things I have used in the past and where they could be useful. I do want to adjust the mixture to add something like glycerine to suspend the diamonds. But shaking up the bottle is super easy.

    Thanks! It’s a bit overkill but has held up really well. But I do want to make a nicer frame one of these days.

    I bought it from Amazon. If you type in 1x30 angle guide it should pop up. There are two different versions. The one I use is the edge trailing or away from the blade. The other one is edge leading or towards the blade. I personally don’t like them but I know a lot of people who do.
