You never sharpen a knife edge trailing on a stone. I sharpen an axe and lawn mower blades perpendicular to the belt on the rounded belt pulley easy to get a consistent flat edge.

Don’t blame ya there. Ive been the Guinea pig for several companies. Not planning on that happening with my company. I plan on doing this as long as I can. 😊

I also prefer edge trailing and I'm a fan of the 2x4. I still run it on a stropping wheel with compound after though.

For sure!!!! Ya the 2x4 is great especially for a nasty burr that just wants to hang on for dear life. I’ve recently found a good stuff bristle brush works great for burr removal as well. But always after it gets a pass or two per side on the leather with compound.

@Samsmobilesharpening the brush makes sence. I use a wire wheel to hit the bur on serations and it works great!

@@TdSharp interesting. I’ll have to give that a try for some of the harder steels. Some of those burrs are quite tricky. Another I want to try is scotchbright belts.

@@Samsmobilesharpening I've heard the scotch bright is good for running along the back. Haven't tried it personally.
