Despite Japan, Wrath of Cortex isn't Crash Bandicoot 4. No, not because of It's About Time. Wrath of Cortex is actually Crash 5, as the fourth platformer in the series was The Huge Adventure (XS).

Okay, I really appreciate finally knowing what was going on in the plane boss fight but this 4th Crash Bandicoot game is my favourite in the franchise. It's way less frustrating than 1 and 2 and has more unique gameplay modes than 3. I haven't yet played the one they label 4 but, so far, this is what peak Crash looks like to me.

I partially disagree with what you said about seeing the gems being more accessible in Wrath of Cortex as an improvement. For me part of the fun of Crash Bandicoot comes from figuring out how to reach the other gems in a way that forces you to utilise critical thinking....HOWEVER...I will admit that Naughty Dog did go a little bit far with it at times, especially in Crash Bandicoot 2 where **SPOILER ALERT** there's a section with dummy nitro crates that you jump onto in order to reach the secret level. Crash Bandicoot 3 was a bit mean with the secret level entrances but, honestly, the fact that you can preview all of the secret levels without necessarily entering them just by collecting the first 5 relics does help things along a bit.

This was the first and only crash game i ever played as a kid, on the gamecube. Never beat it and never did get around to ever playing the originals cause i was worried they were as bland as this game 😅

I'm surprised Traveller's Tales even got enough work to survive long enough to discover the LEGO mines, when they only made like 2 good games before the LEGO stuff. Like who tf at Universal looked at the guys who made Rascal for PS1 and was like "yo we gotta get these guys to make a Crash game!"

If your ending analysis was correct, no one would watch Master Chef. People like to see competent people succeed at their craft. There's a reason why Master Chef is better than Top Chef, which is better than Hell's Kitchen. People acknowledge this, but sometimes just want "junk food" for their brain. Even the most intellectual among us would watch these shows if they were less fake (the artificiality is what repulses a lot of people). A lot more people would be inclined to watch if they actually had more serious veterans competing for a lot more money.

What's funny is the concept of the show can actually be altered to make it more or less "lets see them crash and burn" like.. if want zanier ideas, lessen it from a day to "give us your concept in an hour from now" or if you want to see them refined, make it "in a week give us your pitch and video on it" and then the park goers feedback could actually factor in, yeah know? There could have even been legit stakes with "the winners coaster/concept will actually be put in" and then having feedback of "this ride will fucking kill people" could actually come up and they have to dial it back.. but that could just be a whole other show entirely

Wrath of Cortex is the only crash I've played through, and I maybe even 100% it but I can't remember. I do acutely remember how frustrating the second boss was tho, the way it presented the depth of his attacks was awful

Only thing I really remember was the loading times. Holy crap the loading times. Levels often took anywhere between 3 - 10 minutes to load.

Red gem: spin the box to stop bouncing, scoot+jump towards gem,then hit square to flop, takes a few tries but once you do you can now finiah the first two warp rooms 100% no backtracking
