The Apprentice (UK) is a game show that pretends to be a lot more sophisticated than it actually is. In this video I take a look at the Thorpe Park episode, where the contestants have to design their own roller coaster, to see how The Apprentice sets its contestants up to fail, then reinforces that failure through careful editing. You'll also find out why going through 15 loop-the-loops in a row at high speed is a bad idea.

That joke at 15:10 where you cut her off 😂
You've made me realise I've been missing out. I didn't realise the show was about watching people fail over and over at tasks you know you'd do better.
Absolutely criminal how under watched this video is. Your editing and story telling, much like the game show, was on point. Laughs all around.
God your content deserves so much more attention than it's getting... Great job as always!

Thanks so much!
This video was gas and your editing is brilliant. You did make an entertaining video and I think you should continue just making videos on whatever takes your fancy, only recommendation would be to include the apprentice in the title in some way so more people can find this vid.
What's funny is the concept of the show can actually be altered to make it more or less "lets see them crash and burn" like.. if want zanier ideas, lessen it from a day to "give us your concept in an hour from now" or if you want to see them refined, make it "in a week give us your pitch and video on it" and then the park goers feedback could actually factor in, yeah know? There could have even been legit stakes with "the winners coaster/concept will actually be put in" and then having feedback of "this ride will fucking kill people" could actually come up and they have to dial it back.. but that could just be a whole other show entirely
Please return! 😭
huh, and today I learned that the guy behind the Amstrad CPC is the star of the UK version of the apprentice, which is at least a decent step-up from what us Americans got because of this accursed show.
I quite enjoy watching The Apprentice, though it does annoy me how they try to edit it to make the contestants come across as more stupid than they actually are. The fact that they come up with tasks that are impossible to do well in the time they're given wouldn't be an issue for me if the editing and use of sound/music didn't try to manipulate us into looking down on the contestants for making mistakes. Of course they aren't going to pull it all off perfectly, they're trying to do in a day what marketing or design folks would spend weeks or months on. I have set and have been set challenges like that in both social and interview settings and part of the fun (and what the assessors are ACTUALLY looking for) is making the best out of the limitations you have, and then being able to articulate your working and handling the inevitable questions about the mistakes you'll have made. Noone is expecting you to complete it perfectly because in real life projects don't go perfectly, it's about how you work with people and handle the situation _despite_ that. The laughs I get are more out of that relatable "AHH damn, I am scared I might do that in this scenario 😂"
damm the algorithm aint pushing your content enough its soo good
Incredible writing and editing here. I haven't watched the Apprentice in donkeys years but it seems like it hasn't changed one bit.
Babe! Wake up! New Penguin in Pyjamas video!!!
Isn’t the G Force issue the same reason why fighter pilots have to wear really tight boots to stop the blood pooling in the feet?

Yeah, they wear special trousers and have training to help them avoid blacking out from high G force

@@PenguinInPyjamas Thanks ^-^ Funnily enough, it was Star Fox of all things that first introduced me to that fact 😅
21:33 basically designed the proposed euthanasia coaster through sheer incompetence.
the biggest issue the apprentice has is that a candidate doesnt have to be the worst performing in an episode to leave. Around season 10 or 11 it became pretty obvious that if they had a weaker business plan they could be fired before the final 4 just for a slightly weaker performance. the main example is felipe in S10 who basically got fired because his final plan was to create a play area specifically for special needs kids and alan sugar didnt think it would make him enough money.

If your ending analysis was correct, no one would watch Master Chef. People like to see competent people succeed at their craft. There's a reason why Master Chef is better than Top Chef, which is better than Hell's Kitchen. People acknowledge this, but sometimes just want "junk food" for their brain. Even the most intellectual among us would watch these shows if they were less fake (the artificiality is what repulses a lot of people). A lot more people would be inclined to watch if they actually had more serious veterans competing for a lot more money.
Commenting for the algo!
*insert obligatory where’s Donald trump joke here*
Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't this the show in the US that originally had Donald Trump as the host, before he went into politics, which eventually led him to becoming president for a single term?

Technically Donald Trump was on the original The Apprentice, while this episode was from The Apprentice (UK).
