When Adventure Knox

When Adventure Knox

Travel videos with annual leave in mind.

Hi, I'm Caroline and you'll often find me exploring the globe when it's the school holidays. This channel is designed to help give inspiration and tips for your own trips where length and budget suit those with limited time, but for people still have a pay check at the end of each month.

I don't travel in luxury, but equally don't travel on the lowest budget possible. I strike a balance between still having enough savings for another trip, but also being comfortable enough knowing it's a holiday and I'll be back at work soon. I love nature, hiking and adventures, but love delving into new cultures, new foods, and urban environments too!

Thank u for the idea… Will do the circular route in my next visit there… Climbed the peak that closest to Waterhead back in October 2017 (my phone gps labelled it as Clappersgate), which I mistakenly thought was Loughrigg Fell (from a simple drawn map given to me by one of the local there). The beautiful house that you mentioned was still under construction back then, if I can recall correctly. Made the climb to the actual Loughrigg Fell in March 2020, using Google Map this time around. Climbed ‘Clappersgate’ again in November 2022. Actually wanted to repeat Loughrigg Fell but it was raining heavily. Your video given me an idea what to do next. Just in case, always started from Waterhead as I love to stay at YHA hostel there. Thank you again from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Fantastic video of catbells. I am planning on attempting it in a few weeks as my first ever hill walk. Having watched a fair few videos of it, this is by far the most informative. Thank you for taking the time to make it, and you have yourself a new subscriber!!

We parked here w3w.co/markets.baths.parent (what 3 words) and the footpath is just back out on the main road. It's the steeper side of Rannerdale Knotts.

Good question, but this one was fully plumbed so it's just like in a house - goes down the pipes and to sewers. We stayed in another similar hut in Devon at the start of this trip and that was a composting loo so at some point the owners would have needed to empty it, but I was under the impression composting ones last ages!

I visited Wadi Rum may years ago when all that were there was one restaurant with toilets and common showers, a Beduin tent and a few one/two man tents. We would sit at night in the Beduin tents with torches all around being served lamb and tea. Sleep in the small tents and then dare a dash into the open showers (no doors) for both men & women. The night sky held you in awe in its starry view. In the morning, we would climb into the back of trucks driven by 12 year old kids. If the trucks got stuck (coz of sand in the engine) these genius kid drivers knew what to do and off we went again on our bumpy road. The beauty of the Wadi was the colourful rock formation. I felt like I was in the best cathedral in the world. I remember collecting sand as it was so red you could use it in place of rouge. There is a sense of peace and freedom then which I doubt you will find now with so much civilization encroaching the place.

Excuse me! I was born and bred in Buxton and climbed the Roaches and Hen Cloud from a very early age. There is no train track nearby. What is that footage of a two carriage train? Does not belong there.

You got me scratching my head a little so had to re-watch it. I've used it as footage from our hike the day before when I'm saying the weather the day before was nice. The day before we hikes Kinder Scout. I hope that solves the mystery :)

You certainly HAVE seen 'Lawn Tennis' outside of Wimbledon. Virtually all of what we call 'Tennis' is actually 'Lawn Tennis' regardless of which surface it's played on - grass or otherwise. The sport that we know as 'Tennis' is actually 'Lawn Tennis' - 'real' Tennis on the other hand is a game with much older origins and is played on a (semi) indoor court surrounded by rooved 'galleries' (which actually form part of the playing area. Check out 'real' tennis on Wikipedia at: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Real_tennis

For goodness sake…. I do not want to listen to “ Annie” who in the advertisement complained about her financial position. Where does this fit in with hiking. We have all had a period of financial difficulties. Good god stop this advertising in the middle of what was a great video however has now been deleted for me. Shocking. I appreciate its Google. Stop supporting Google. Bad form my friend.

Im very glad you had a great flight on that small twin engine Aeroplane also glad you got to your destination without any disruption to your holiday, but just to let you know that I & my Sister flew from Glasgow to Barra which was a great flight then we got a car and went round the lsland & when we came back the girl in the cafe that we had hired the car from gave us the hired car for free after going round the lsland then it was back to Glasgow airport, but just to say that the plane lands on Barra beach, but only when the tide is out, so you might like to go there sometime, - keep safe.

The spiky yellow stiff is what I call gorse, but is known as whin in the north of England. In any patch of gorse there will always be at least one bush in flower whatever the time of year ("When gorse is not in flower, kissing's not in season") - it smells of coconut.
