I remember doing the same walk (minus Haystacks) about 3 years ago and finding it more challenging that I was expecting. I also remember getting to the summit of Red Pike thinking well at least the descent will be easier - wrong! Such a shame you missed out Dodd (as most people do, as it is not a Wainwright) after Bleaberry Tarn as the view point from there is breath-taking and oh yes, I remember that scree up to Red Pike. I did not enjoy the descent from High Crag and think I was lucky to only get away with only one fall. Brilliant effort and no wonder you were tired at the end, that was a real hard days hiking but also a very enjoyable watch and great views of the golden covered Hindscarth Edge and Robinson at the end, cheers Alan

Hi Alan, it sounds like I made a grave error not going over to Dodd - and it'll be such effort to get back up to it again! I was quite shocked by the path down. There was a couple a fair bit older than us who were hiking with a dog and they flew down at quite some speed with no mishaps, but we took it slow and steady! Bless you for having taken a tumble on the way down, never a nice feeling when you're so far away from civilisation! The scree up to Red Pike was crazy, whilst shorter, I found it more difficult than the scree between Devils Kitchen and Glyder Fawr in Snowdonia! So pleased you found the video enjoyable - it really means a lot 🙏

I love hikes in the US which are in desert-like landscapes... and the Grand Tetons, but I think it's because we don't have any landscapes that come close so they feel like such novelties. Plus of course the possibilities in some places of coming across wildlife we don't have the UK like bison, moose, or even bears from a distance is exciting. But on the flip, it's nice to know you wont suddenly encounter a grizzly when doing these big hikes in the UK so it's swings and roundabouts. So pleased you enjoyed this video 🙏 Cheers 🍦🍦

@When Adventure Knox You two should check out the Superior Hiking Trail along Lake Superior in Northern Minnesota if you want some amazing views and more red squirrels than you can count 😀

This really was an ultimate walk, lots of peaks and even more spectacular viewpoints looking down on the lakes and countryside. It's hard to beat those magnificent ridge walks though - you sure did get some wonderful weather for this hike. I know exactly how you feel on one of those hikes where you have to keep putting extra layers on, then taking them back off again haha. This hike certainly had a lot of variety in terms of the terrain and greenery, it really made things more interesting and challenging. Amazing to see the sunlight hitting those peaks at the end - the colours were magnificent. What a wonderful world we live in!

I couldn't get over the colours at the end either - it's certainly at moments like that when you feel blessed to live in such a stunning world. Ridge walks are amazing once you're up there like with this one. The getting up isn't too bad either - for the most part, pace is the key... but the scree right at the top of this ascent was an exception to the rule... it's the descent that always gets me... but a couple of descents for 4 peaks is still winning in my book! 🙌

What an incredible adventure! The Lake District is one of the most beautiful parts of the UK and your hike really shows off its rugged beauty. I can't believe the stunning views you captured from the summits of Red Pike, High Stile, and High Crag. And of course, the iconic Buttermere Haystacks never disappoint. Thanks for sharing this incredible experience with us!

The tarn on haystacks is called Innominate Tarn. Wainwright ashes are scattered there x

That’s a beast of a walk. I’ve done the High Stile range in the past and also Haystacks on many occasions, but fair play for doing it all in one go. I’d also recommend picking decent weather for anyone thinking of doing this walk as it’s hard enough tackling the Red Pike and High Crag scree slopes in dry weather.

I agree with the comment about wanting to do this hike in fair weather - I dread to think what the scree up to Red Pike would be like if it was wet! 😖 I imagine doing this ride but split into 2 different day hikes would be lovely - less go-go-go. I just wanted to take the opportunity to get onto the Haystacks after we'd climbed so much elevation already!

How are you doing mrs Caroline . Thank you for your sharing your trips with us. England is really have amazing nature just reading is stunning how about travel there . As always I gathered main information about places you visited briefly here it’s butter mere is lake famous for setting among fells , means lake by dairy pastures . Classic combination of lakes and mountains has made popular with visitors. Since beginning of tourism in Lake District. Blea berry tarn is small mountain tarn near butter mere in English Lake District stream sour milk . Tarn derived from old Norse means small mountain lake without tributaries . Red pike is fell range in west English Lake District.can be confused with red pie which only three miles away but can seen from summit. Haystack is hill in England , one of most popular fells in area , famed due to writing of Alfred wright named came from Iceland stack column rock .

Hi Khatoon, I am well thank you, I hope you are too. I didn't know the term Buttermere came from lake by dairy pastures, but once it's pointed out, it makes a lot of sense. I knew 'mere' was a body of water and there's more like this in the Lake District, for example 'Windermere' which is the lake I could see in my first video from this Lake District series', but didn't know about the 'Butter' part. Another word I didn't know the true meaning of was a 'tarn'. If someone asked me what one was, I'd have said a tiny lake or large pond high up a mountain, but have never stopped to think about the lack of tributaries! I love how your desire to learn and improve your English in turn improves mine too!
