Marrakech Accommodation: Moroccan Riad tour

THIS VIDEO WAS FILMED IN NOVEMBER 2022. I was back home in the UK when the earthquake hit Morocco - Andy and I are safe and sound and our thoughts are with those who have been affected by it.
Join me as I unveil a hidden gem in the heart of Marrakech's Medina - a small Riad that will transport you to the essence of Moroccan charm. In this travel Vlog, I invite you to explore the enchanting spaces within our Riad, revealing its captivating architectural wonders.
Step inside our Riad and see the intricate details of Moroccan design. Discover what the bedroom and ensuite bathrooms inside these guest houses are like. Adorned with exquisite painted wood and zellige - the famed Moroccan mosaic tiles. Delve into the rich history and symbolism behind these architectural elements, as I share fascinating insights with you.
As we meander through the courtyards, salons, and vibrant communal areas, you'll be immersed in the peaceful ambiance and surrounded by the lush greenery that intertwines effortlessly with the Riad's design. Immerse yourself in the tranquillity of our dip pool, where you can find solace and refreshment away from the Moroccan sun.
Prepare to be amazed as we ascend to the rooftop terrace, offering views of the city's skyline. Take a moment to unwind and soak in the vibrant atmosphere from our private balconies, where you can embrace the soul of Marrakech.
Unlike the bustling palaces and museum-style Riads open to the public, our Riad offers a unique experience of solitude, allowing you to fully appreciate the beauty and allure of Moroccan architecture in an intimate setting.

I didn't know the word Riad translates to 'garden', all the plants make sense now! They do look homely inside, I think my favourite space is the balcony area. Thanks for the tour!

Your Morocco videos are super helpful! I'm going there next month and thinking about doing the Intrepid tour as well. Did you do a premium or regular tour and how were the accommodations besides the riads like? I'm doing one of the Original (non-premium) tours and wondering if I should expect like hostel style or like a 2-star hotel?

Heya. I just did their original - though this Riad was after the tour booked by ourselves. The original tour had a real mix of accommodations. Casablanca, a standard 3* hotel that was a little dated but good. I loved Moulay Idriss which was a family home Riad with rooms they rented out. Everything felt very homely and not like a hotel so it felt like a real local experience. You could tell from how it was decorated the family doesn't have lots of money, but it was spotlessly clean and the family were so welcoming!! I heard others in our group talk about how happy they were to be at the hotel in Fes and voiced not liking the home stay. I actually found the hotel in Fes to be my least favourite accommodation. Just a standard business-esque 3* hotel, white walls, white bed linens, a little dated and not much soul. Chefchouen was insanely gorgeous - a real treat of a hotel - if you've not seen the video where I take the bus from Fes to Chefchaouen, I share it in that video. Sleeper Train was the sleeper train. Nothing fancy at all, but I slept very well - and slept better than I have done on more luxury sleeper trains. Hotel in Marrakech was lovely, lots of typical Moroccan designs, patterns, colours etc. but it's a hotel in the new town which is why we moved onto this Riad as we wanted something more in the heart of the action! For the most part, we found ourselves in the hotel to either shower, sleep or eat breakfast. Outside of this, we were out and about exploring. As lovely as the Chefchouen hotel was, we didn't use their gorgeous pool or gardens as we were choc-a-block with things to do. I hope this helps.
