OK this is perfect teaching. Much appreciated
Just discovered your channel and looking forward to diving into it later. Nothing but good, real, experienced vibes. I'm planning on filming tutorial videos from inside my tank just for some kind of gimmick.
XD it's a joke ?
it's a joke ... pls tel me it's a joke
Hello father fish God bless you I wanted to ask what to do when water evaporates while using heater or in summer? Should I add old water? And how old water is safe to use? Thank you father fish
👌🏻🥰 thank you & No money can be given to anyone in here for any reason
Thank you for this video!
Biofilm is the perfect food for Opae Ula brackish water shrimp! They love it.
As a,ways great video and topic father fish
Where do I get the dirt from I’m worried it will have contaminates in it . I’m definitely going to build my next tank with all your advice . Your tanks are like an underwater tateruim <~~~~ spelt that very wrong 😑 hope you know what I mean.👍
Man wish I would of seen this video sooner, I ended up using actv flora as my substrate for 10gal tank hope it will be fine
Hey Father Fish g'day from Sydney, Australia. Eternal thanks for imparting your wealth of knowledge and wisdom to us all. Can you advise please as to whether Maple leaves are ok in a tank - or not? I've observed mixed opinion on the net. Cheers and all the best.
Idk if anyone can answer this but if I have a 10gal planted tank (with some nano fish and shrimp) with activ flora for substrate and I used purified gallon bottled water for the tank. Will me using seachem flourish be adequate in adding the different minerals to the tank that are lost from using purified water when doing water changes?
Are these plants available to be sold in India? If YES,l then, please give the details where to buy. Thank you.
I am from India in my local ecocystem I saw a worm I am brought them and reslease in my tank I think I will affect my beta fish I am thinking about the dishes imunity answer this please sir
Hey, Father Fish. After you bleach the hospital tank, do you need to bleach it again when done, or will regular cleaning do? Got any recommendations for those who don't have a hospital tank on hand but need it urgently? Could you put the antibiotic BEFORE the steps?
All this is fine and true to a point but very dangerous to someone new in the hobby. All the aquariums publicly or privately owned do not compare to the small sea/river on earth. Most of the fish we buy are tank raised. Nature is infinite divers and is almost impossible to do this in an aquarium. Unfortunately t his type of system does not work for everyone. You learn from time and patience about this fantastic hobby. A lot of what Father Fish teaches is true but is not for all fish keepers. He has been fish keeping for a long time and he has learned from that a great deal. Natural aquarium with lots of plant will always be better. Someone new to the hobby also has to learn from their mistakes and find what work for them. What works for someone does not work for all. Thanks to Father Fish for his great inside!
It's funny I have seen a video on KGtropical's channel pretty sure he was referring to this guy on how often to do a water change. I really want to set my aquarium up like this now I just love the idea of my substrate being a live ecosystem and just watching the tank do it's own thing without much intervention from me.
Dear sir can i use vermi compost instead of dirt
Vermicompost is kind of soil on steroids minus the sand, silt, and clay, and its has more nutritients than soil, so I wouldnt use too much, and not a full on replacement for soil.
Is it not best to just use an actual aquatic soil like the type used for ponds etc
Hello, how are you? Can I mix a substrate from one tank to another? Same sand and soil from the same brand but in different tanks. Thank you 😊
Hello, can you teel, how to create a pond with the same principal as your fisk tanks.
For the hospital tank, after the fish is done using it, do I empty out and rebleach it or clean it regularly? Can I apply the antibiotic before the tablespoon salt treatment? Hope in the name of Lord Jesus I may properly take care of his creatures he bless in my life.
Father Fish used the song to Jack Horkheimer's Star Hustler at the begining.
I absolutely love this guy Iv learnt so much thank you so much . Much Love from Ireland 🇮🇪
Excellent video. thanks for the advice. a question. If the aquarium should not be intervened, then would it not be water changes to renew it?
"YOU NEED TO LISTEN!!!" 😢 ok ok ok I'm listening! I'm listening!!! Jeeze!!
what type of dirt I need? Like dirt for garden??
I have a tank that is about 3+ years old . Substrate is getting deep , due to the constant dip netting outside stuff to put in the tank. So I will open pit mine a section into flower pots, plants critters mud and all. Then move it to my pond to jump start life cycle for spring. Let settle down and re cap with sand. A few weeks later stuff is all ready growing. But I have a massive sump and bio filter with like a 3-1 ratio sump gallons vs aquarium . This type of “mining “ your natural aquarium would be detrimental to most people’s systems who don’t subscribe to my 3-1, principle of fish keeping.
I love father fish.
Always a fun time with ff and Dina😁☮❤🐠🦐🪴
So, should well water be conditioned in any way before adding fauna? I am fortunate enough to have well water.
With this method are you able to add corals and the types of saltwater fish you see in the stores?
Please make all your videos readable in Hungarian so that I can understand them! It's a big help if you do. I don't speak English, nor Ukrainian, nor any other languages, only Hungarian. Sorry. However, I follow your natural aquarium videos. It's so hard. I also wrote this message using Google Translate. Help me please!
Dear Father Fish! I would like a Hungarian language option for the videos, please! Thanks.
Hello just wondering I know this sounds stupid maybe but what sort of sand where do I get it from the hardware or from a pet shop or can you just use the substrate material as sand?. The dirt under sand is that just dirt from your garden or buy it ?
You can get the sand from the hardware store or the pet shop just as long as its inert sand. I use pool filter sand.
@@FatherFish Thank you much appreciated for a fast reply and also love your channel fantastic work you do and thank you for sharing.
Father fish Rock on😊. Detroit
Thank you father fish. I was just hella shamed for taking an extremely lethargic betta out of a poop filled tiny cup from petsmart into a planted 2.5 gal. His color has come back and he looks so much better. Told me he was better off in the cup! I give him blood worms & brine shrimp too!
You’re such a gentleman, FF, I respect you sir. Have a nice day there. I keep my fishes in a bucket, no substrate at first. The substrate is from dead leaves, plants and fish poops, haven’t checked the the ammonia levels but my fishes are thriving. Of course, lots of floating plants as I got many leftovers from my ponds. As long I gave them enough food, the fishes will thrive just as good as in the pond. I do need to decrease the amount of fishes in the bucket though cause they keep multiplying like crazy in there! The water is yellowish caused by the dead leaves but it is not smelly at all.
Everytime one of my fish dies and disappears in the tank before I can take its body out, the plants grow fast for a while.
I am so happy i found this channel, because i recently starter a no tech aquarium with most of plants and water sourced from my local lake and i was amazed how life thrive and develop there. So listening to this channel and getting such a good advices is a treat! Cheers!
Tank set up as per your guidance, with acceptable pH and TDS. Plants thriving, but noticed fishy odor. Is this normal? Also, seeking advice on tank cleaning frequency and method. From pakistan.. thanks

Thank you Father Fish the most cogent Betta site I have found so far. Particularly like the soil sand combo anaerobic brilliance. Thanks FF👍
I call it biological competition the more diversity in microbiology in the water the better
Thanks Father Shrimp... I mean Father Fish😅
I am a firm believer in the less you mess with nature the less problems you will have. I've kept a 40 gallon breeder with 2 sponge filters, live plants assorted with tetras, corys, shrimp, and Bolivian rams and I haven't lost a fish. I only top the water off when it gets low.
Does FatherFish eat fish?
YES!
Love the video
What type of sand?
Any inert sand
That beginning was to funny
