A Gerntle Touch Keeps Your Fish and Plants Healthy and Happy

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

A Gentle Touch Will Keep Your Fish Healthy and Happy is a video showcasing how Father Fish is committed to ignoring cutting-edge science and emphasizing creating optimal environments through natural aquarium setups with deep substrates. These ecosystems support a diverse range of fish species including Plecos, Angelfish, Guppies, Tetras, and Bettas. Aquariums of the members belonging to the Father Fish Shoal attest to the effectiveness of these setups, which utilize specialized substrates and planted aquarium techniques. By mimicking natural habitats, these aquariums promote fish health and well-being, offering enthusiasts an immersive and sustainable approach to fishkeeping. Through practical application, Father Fish demonstrates that dedication to the true concepts of nature will provide the Fish keeper with a successful and fulfilling aquarium experience.

I set up a mineralized top soil tank in 2009. Had UV sterilizer, co2 tank, big lighting, expensive pump/filter. Earlier this year plants stopped theiving so I set up a natural tank ussing FF purchased itmes. Supplements, leaves, bag o bugs and Ff plant package. So far i am very happy with results. Still need to add live cultures, will be doing that eaely next week. Thank you for renewing my love for my aquarium. My fish thank you as well.

After many years of owning African cichlids, I haven’t had much success. They were just so aggressive and I couldn’t figure out what to do. I’ve tried adding more rocks, keep them in a larger tanks but nothing. Even over crowding them didn’t help (for me at least) but after watching Father Fish, I decided to start over. I set up a new tank with fresh new cichlids and added plants. My goal was to stop water changes or keep them to a minimal. I decided to stop them and to my surprise the fish get along well. I’m not sure if water changes affect their behavior or not but I suspect when you change the water, especially large amounts, this affects the fish’s hormones, stressing them and making them more aggressive. After living in the same old (aged) water, I suspect the fish have agreed to their pecking order and live in harmony with their environment. I let nature take its course and that tank is flourishing. Thank you Father Fish. I was so hell bent on making sure I was doing my routine water changes, worried about the water parameters or if the water was too old and all kind of ridiculous stuff, but didn’t stop to think “maybe I should just let nature (and by nature I mean the tiny ecosystem in a glass box) take its course and so far it has been a great experience.

Absolutely loved this video. I am in the stage of gathering plants for my first aquarium and you were and still are an invaluable resource. Technically and philosophically. I really share the thought that you set up your tank to the best of your abilities and then trust that nature will take it in the right direction. I feel some people on the internet see their aquarium as a child they need to constantly monitor and correct. I'm gonna show my tank how to walk and then watch it from my couch as learns itself how to run. Keep making these videos! Your voice is so soothing and relaxing I could listen to you read the phone book 😂

Something important you should know is that most of the time, aquatic plants you buy at the local pet store are actually grown not submerged, and need time to grow new leaves that are able to survive submerged in water. The plants grown under water are going to have much smaller leaves and might be more expensive, but they won't melt underwater.

I like that kind of content, zen, and nature: what I want an aquarium for. It's impossible to control nature, there are so many factors, and one tank means one unique environment, so observation is key to knowing when to intervene.

It seems like every time I watch my tanks, I see something different. A baby fish, a new leave growing on a plant or a tiny fish or a shrimp. It’s like every day there’s always something new to see. You don't have to be an expert to have a natural aquarium. You just need to be patient and observant. Keep up the great work!

Because I live in a coastal coastal city, so i didn't use natural water because of too many pollutants and also im surrounded by sea water. BUT I did put the sponge from my filter into an existing tank of mine. I have noticed that bio film grew pretty quickly on my drift wood, in the new aquarium. Thank you!!!

I’ve been in the hobby since 1977 and have never tested my water. Had fish that outgrew my tanks and passed them along to a friend who had a much bigger tank. Yes NEVER tested my water . When people try to evaluate methods (gadgetry vs simplicity + balance) the proof is in the pudding. Gadgetry tries to artificially make it good from day 1 and assumes reset every few years or at least copious labor plus lots of money. Simplicity + balance gets better and better the longer its allowed to thrive with no more than minor nurturing along the way. I think that lesson could be applied to a whole lot more than fish tanks, but fish tanks is a good start.

I too tend to just let things be. I have looked at many photos of water life in so many different places. Underwater buried towns. Man made coastlines. Dead seas. Yet life is plentiful. My tanks have varying surfaces. Some planted some gravel and plastic. Many are years in the making. I can now sit back and enjoy all my tanks as pristine. The water is crystal clear. Very little water changes. I hardly remove 40 percent of water.

Started in Feb, Now my plants are going yellow and brown. Had 8 fish and I'm down to 1. I tried the not doing anything and set it and forget it... but it's been yellow, have done water changes. Thought this way would be easier, but it's costing me more. The shoal group is telling me to test the water, but according to FF YT, I'm told let nature do nature lol it's killing everyone though. Still not going to give up.. I got more muck to add and hopefully it'll help and my plants will cone back. Began adding potassium.

Science is not the dismissal of nature, the embrace of technology for its own sake, or the reason why people put others down.

For too many fish keepeers technology is an alternative to natural systems.

@@FatherFish The driver for pushing these products is the market though. I don't see the need to put this onto the scientific method. You are observing the natural world, recreating natural systems in aquariums and then observe what's going on in there and share your conclusions. That sounds a lot like science… Now, let's see what's happening in that resurrection jar….

I have been a gardener all my life. I see my aquariums as an extension of that. Why do I garden? I am in awe of God's creation - how a tiny seed can grow into a huge and beautiful thing that will be pleasant to look at or good to eat. The aquarium, set up in a natural way, is actually aquatic gardening, and is another way to enjoy the wonder of God's creation, and to truly appreciate what He has given us in the life that surrounds us.
