Hello and congratulations again for your tutorial! I wanted to ask you: where are the "In Ear Monitors" usually connected in this mixer? In my case, playing with two people live and having the mixer on stage near me, I would like to have in the "In Ear Monitors" what the audience hears, in order to arrange the sounds myself. Where should I connect them? Thanks in advance for your reply!
Bruno, I love you, son. You're always very professional in all your uploads. Kind regards. dd
Thank you. I learned a lot today 👍
you are the best as always
I want to have My Rodecaster Pro II main outputs which are 2 TRS Balanced cables each to a Behringer X32 Input, and want to covert this 2 TRS Balanced Outputs into 2 XLR cables, should I do it with a DI Box to convert them or should I just get a TRS to XLR Cable? Im facing the problem where all DI Boxes say, that inputs need to be unbalanced, In another scenario I would be interested in merging the two Balanced TRS cables into a single Mono XLR cable, is this possible? I noticed most of the DI Boxes specs say that the inputs are no balanced, and the rode has balanced outputs, please help
In this case there is no need for a DI box as the outputs are already balanced: use two TRS to XLR adapters and you are good. When it comes to merging the outputs I suggest you ask Rode for advice - there may be a way to set the outputs to be dual mono using the internal menus. Otherwise they can advise you on the best method to do this.

I own a small sound company. My inventory is mostly passive. There are a few reasons why I use passive speakers. 1 - I do a lot of jobs where I have to distribute speakers over great distances. It is not always ideal or possible to run a bunch of power cabling and signal cabling all over an event space. I use a lot of speaker distribution cabling that I make myself. Things such as a 8 conductor cable that fans out to 4 NL4 connectors. This allows me to run one cable, and hit 4 speakers, that I can then chain to 4 more speakers. So that one cable will ultimately run 8 speakers. 2 - Powered speaker manufacturers tend to discontinue models fairly regularly. So after a couple years, it can become difficult to buy more of the same model, or get replacement parts. I use stuff that I have been able to get parts for, for 20 years or more sometimes. I have learned to repair the passive crossovers that are in my cabinets. So if they go bad, I can fix them very cheaply. I have a stock of spare parts for those, that will last me the rest of my career (and those parts are not expensive at all). I have also learned to recone speakers, and repair compression drivers. So of the three things that go wrong, I am able to fix them. The majority of powered speakers do not offer recone kits for their drivers, so you are forced to replace the whole speaker 🔊... if you can even get one. 3 - I use the same type of amplifier across the whole range of my inventory (QSC PLX II 3602s). I have never had one fail in over 20 years of using the PLX line. And I dont have to think about which amps go where...its all the same. My gear makes money, and has for years. And it will continue to make money until I decide to retire someday. I dont get caught in the trap of buying the latest greatest thing, every time something new comes out. My clients appreciate that they get the same thing at every gig. And I have had some clients for well over 20 years. They dont like change for the most part. I do stay current with things like mixers and wireless microphones though. I do keep a few powered speakers around. I use them mostly as backstage hot spots for corporate events, DJ monitors, and as a shout speaker for a band talkback to the engineer. I have a couple friends who also own small sound companies, and they use powered speakers exclusively. The services they are able to offer are very limited because of that.
Once again, great advice for anyone starting out - thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge and experience 😀
thanks for the good job ! part 1 & 2 are very useful for me
You're welcome Hugues, all the best with your music!

I own a small sound company. I often use older analog gear, when specific gear is not being requested, or Im not meeting the requirements of a technical rider in a contract, and I can basically take whatever I want. I have a Peavey SRC 2400 24 channel console. I also have a Peavey MD 12 channel mixer. Peavey really anticipated the linking of consoles, and generally had really good patching facilities to make that possible. There are numerous times where I have used the 24 channel as the main console, and the MD is linked to it for additional channels...maybe for an opening act, etc... Peavey even allowed for the PFL/Solo feature to be linked via a single TRS 1/4" cable. So from the smaller MD mixer I take the Main L/R out into the Main Left/Right Aux In on the 2400. That simply sends the main signal from the MD to the Main bus on the 2400. This way you are not wasting input channels on the main mixer. The same feature applies to auxiliaries, and sub groups. This also makes calibration between mixers a bit easier , by removing the preamps that you are using on the input channels. This allows things like main graphic eqs, monitor eqs, and effects to benefit both mixers. The Peavey mixer you have there, features two stereo return busses...which route directly to your main outs. You could simply use two 1/4" cables coming out of the Mackie main outs, to the Peavey stereo return in #1. That would give you back your #1 & 2 input channels on the Peavey. Linking to busses directly together tends to give a better sound quality...using input channels can color the sound, depending on the quality of the preamps you're going through.
Yes I remember those old Peavey consoles, they had some truly unique and innovative features like the one you describe. It's great that you are keeping this older gear in the field - show us young guys how it used to be done 😅
i’ve been back and forth between the 58a and the 58 and this video is what helped me decide to get the beta version
Glad the video was helpful :)

How to connect two digital console two different brand just like dlive s7000 and midas m32
With digital consoles it may be possible to connect them via Dante or similar audio networking tools, otherwise you will need to use the analog inputs and outputs.
@@GLBProductions thankyou srr
and what about connecting 2 mixers to one audio-interface to compensate for the lack of enough inputs ?
You would probably use the same method, with the outputs of the second mixer connected to the audio interface.
Hey, I'm having trouble recording vocals. My setup is as follows: Mic XLR to Zed, click record, and also click record bus. However, I can't hear my instrumental unless I track it out to the board, which results in a two-track recording with both vocals and the instrumental when I record back into my DAW. My connections are: - Main mix out to the interface - Record out to monitor mixer - Monitor mixer out to interface 1-2 Please help if you can.
I would say make sure that the ST-2 track is NOT assigned to the record bus - this will prevent it from going back into your DAW and being recorded again.
If you see this comment, I just wanted to say this is the best explanation video for the MG124. I have an MG166CX-USB myself, but I didn’t know everything until now. Your explanation was super clear. Thank you so much! Sending love from Sri Lanka!
That's great, very glad the video was helpful!
Are all those channels produce good sound?
Sorry I don't understand your question.
Thank you, you are a great teacher lad! 😁 I wish you have covered also the groups ...
Thanks for watching Herbie.
For the first 14 minutes I thought he was explaining it to me lol 😂
That the idea 😄 Thanks for watching!
Hi, if I turn off this unit from the back, my guitar signal would it still go to the amp?Thank you, best review.
I'm not sure, but my recollection is that the unit does not pass signal when powered off.
@@GLBProductions Thanks.
To my ears, the Beta 58A has its advantages. But is it worth 60% more than the SM58? in most cases, probably not.
I would regard them as two different tools for different applications: the Beta58a is not an upgrade to the SM58 - that's why Shure has kept them both in production.
Can have fx on aux in MG20XU?
Not possible with the internal effects on this particular model.
you are the best
Thanks for watching :)
Hi, thank you for this great video 17:22 , this is very important point for me, can i connect xlr to ts jack cable to my speaker? I know it wont be balanced connection but will it work fine? Or will i face some issues? Please note that the cable is 1 meter long max.
You cannot connect the mixer directly to passive speakers, you need to connect to an amplifier first. If the speaker is active you can use the above method.
I was in a jam band 20 years ago. I tried singing into an SM57 but no mater how much pleading I did (TURN IT DOWN!) I could never get my voice's volume up over the rest of the garage band. I did some research and found the Beta 57. The neodymium magnet makes a very big difference. With the purchase of the neodymium (ND) mic the next jam went easier for me. I was getting a much better volume. Ever since I have bought ND or condenser mics.
great video thanks
You're welcome :)
Very detailed. Thank you for this video. Please the output volume using the USB is low, any suggestion what to do in this situation?
This is a known issue with this mixer - the only way to deal with it is to raise the level of the channel gains and/or channel faders above normal operating levels - this will raise the level of the USB output but will also risk distortion. Alternatively, use a separate USB interface with a higher output level.
Thank you very much
You're welcome Dani!
Can you pls reply to this? My dad saw this video and he says that somewhere u mentioned that pfl should always be pressed even during performance and now he's just not using it the ryt way. Please help me!
Certainly! The PFL button is used for two purposes: firstly during gain setting, to show the input level of the selected channel on the meters, and secondly at any time during the performance to monitor the signal and levels to that channel. So there will be times during the performance when it is pressed, but it should not be pressed all the time, as this prevents the output levels of the mixer from being shown on the meters. Hope that helps :)
@@GLBProductions thanks a lot!!!! You're a life saver both your videos and your replies 🫡🥺
You're welcome 😄 All the best with your sound.
The microphone sounds breathy while the pick up sounds throaty, which is better might depend on the composition
Yes - in most cases a blend of the two will yield optimal results.
how does NL4 speakon cable wired into bridge mode?
That depends on the amplifier - some use +1/+2 but check the user manual to be sure.
@@GLBProductions NL 4 has four wires, what about the remaining two wires sir?
@@DJWASAASA They are for bi-amping as well as custom speaker hookups.
Those turbo sound point source speakers still sound great to this day when set up correctly
Excellent presentation. Thank you!
You're welcome!
The links provided to your Amazon store do not work.
Thanks for letting me know, try here: www.glbproductions.com/amazon-links-direct-boxes/
Thank you so much for creating exactly what I needed in this video! Incredibly helpful and really well done!
You're welcome Mike, thanks for watching :)
Thank you sir, great demo, our church desk definitely needs adjusting.
You're welcome :)
My teacher good job
Thanks for watching :)
So if my bass amps takes a dump and stops working will the PA still get sound or a signal ?
Yes it will.
Very clear info! Thank u
You're welcome Ed!
on channels 5/6 7/8 9/10 11/12 if you put one drum microphone in Left and one microphone in the right , on say channel 5/6. Will both drum mics be used at the same time? What I want to do is use one channel for two drum microphones. That way I can use one channel for two drums. I have a large kit and need all the jacks in order to have all the drums individually mic'ed. Thank you in advance for your response!
Hmm, yes they will, but that is not really the design intent of those channels - they are meant for stereo sources like keyboards, CD players etc. If you connect two separate mics one will be sent only to the left output and the other one only to the right output. So it's possible but I wouldn't recommend it.
Thank you so much for this one friend. For some strange reason, replacing pads on head monitors always terrorized me lol. This gave me confidence. Regarding the DT line, their ear pads look weird even when new. But the headphones are 100% value for money. Best ear monitors i ever had in that price range. I own the open back DT 990.
Glad the video was helpful :)
Please, I have a question: When we are in the process of adjusting the sound and distributing the monitor for the concert, and we turn off the jazz until the concert starts, is it necessary to go back to adjusting the sound and the monitors again? Thank you very much.
It depends on how much the venue has changed - some venues sound very different empty vs. when they are full of people. You should not need to change the monitor mixes though - they should remain fairly consistent from the soundcheck.
Best easy to understand, comprehensive, good Voice
Thanks for watching Alton :)
Thank you so much. Just had a question. I'm trying to run a hybrid event live and online streaming. Where is the best place to put my output for the live streaming? I placed in on headphones output and was just too loud when streaming it online. This is for church.
Yes, don't use the headphone output - it is for headphones 😄 I suggest using either the duplicate STEREO OUT connectors, the MONITOR OUT, or any of the group outputs. The latter two options will give you a separate volume control for the feed to your livestream, if needed.
Sadly I bought a 4-pack of 90 º connectors from amazon with 4-terminals but NONE of the terminals are labeled which sucks because I don't know which to connect the wires !
I suggest you return those and order the genuine Neutrik connectors - they make a right angled version which you may still be able to find in stock: www.neutrik.com/en/product/nl4frx
@@GLBProductions Hi Thanks - after a small eyeball measurement I realized that the 90º connectors I bought only saved 1/4" of distance. Not worth the effort. I believe it's a product that really doesn't even need to be in the marketplace !
Presumably that is why it's been discontinued 😅
Thank you for this tutorial! I find the prying part a little scary, but managed to pull through nonetheless. After replacing the ear pad, I noticed a dramatic improvement over the low frequency :)
9:13 totally agree here. It's been 10 years of my old dt880, still my daily drive, really a solid investment
You're welcome, glad the video was helpful :)
The first time i used mixer, i was somehow good but not perfect because there were things which was Disturbing me while i was using. But after Learning your Lesson here, am now perfect and good to use it. Thank you so much and Be Blessed
You're most welcome Kipruto, all the best with your music!
What if i connect my left and right channel to one speaker
That is actually what bridge mono mode is: using both left and right channels of the amplifier to drive a single loudspeaker. However do not do this with a normal non-bridged amplifier, you will very likely damage things.
Thank you from 2024
You're welcome! From 2024 😄😄😄
