How do I balance & EQ electronic drum pads and different keyboard patches? | FSB #5
From the Sounding Board - the video series where I answer viewer questions on the channel!
In this episode: a viewer has the challenge of trying to balance and EQ the output of an electronic drum pad - how can this be done given that the unit has only a stereo output, and any attempt to apply EQ to one drum sound will affect all of the others? In addition - how do you deal with different keyboard patches, where one may be much louder than another?

DTX12 is a great Edrum, you can actually EQ, Pan, and tune individual pads. also you can add velocity layers to each pads all that within the unit.

Can you make a video of you EQing vocals for a live mix and not in a computer software? I want to know the best way to EQ vocals and also some tips and tricks for a live setting. I use a Allen and Heath QU32 and beta 58a mic. I love your videos btw. They are straightforward and the best on youtube. Thanks!

Hi Bruno. Is a DI suggested when sending an on-stage sub-mixer's main outs to the booth? Stage is

If the sub mixer has balanced outputs a DI should not be necessary, however it's useful to have just in case you have ground loop issues.

I would love to watch your review of Takamine GY93 and GN93. All of your previous test are very knowledgable, detailed and helpful

GLB Productions That would be awesome! Thank you so much
Another great video Bruno! I want to use 2 drum triggers with my acoustic kit. 1 on the bass drum and 1 on the snare drum. These are ment to supplement my normal drum sound. The trigger on the snare would trigger claps or a tambourine in one song for instance. I believe I can pan my samples to L and R in my drum module. Wouldn't this be an option the gain more control over the EQing and levels of the samples? As you mention in another comment using a DAW and an interface or even Dante would be much beter for controlling everything but also make for a more complicated setup. Tanks!

Hello Bart! Yes that would work fine if you are only using two pads - route the first pad to the left output of the module and the second pad to the right output - that would allow you to process them separately on your mixer. Just be sure to turn off any 'global' EQ or other processing on the module itself.
thanks sir

Hey Bruno. I notice the drum machine has midi IO. Can individual drum sounds be isolated via DAW in individual midi outs and sent to the PA mixer? Thanks!

Yes you could absolutely do that! However it's several extra steps and not everyone is familiar with MIDI, plus you would need a recording interface with sufficient number of analog outputs.

seems like one could find a multiple outs midi box to send individual signals but,, it's been a while since I used live MIDI on stage so,,?? But with the plethora of equipment out there,, must be something. Thanks Bruno!
can you give an alternative DI box for electric drum pad please? something cheaper than the Radial? thanks!

Hello, do you use a cable tester and if so, which one do you recommend?

I use the Ebtech 6 in 1 tester: amzn.to/2CMFj6y Behringer have made an illegal and unlicensed copy of this called the CT-100 - DO NOT buy that one!

How to control eq in mixer for producing best sound for male singer
@GLBProductions
Жыл бұрын
Start with no EQ - all knobs at the 12 o'clock position - and adjust from there. In many cases you will not need any EQ, especially if the microphone is well matched to the singer.

It really depends on your singer's voice - for male vocals I prefer the Beta58a. Check out my video on these two mics: kzread.info/dash/bejne/d2eClaqjl6neh5s.html
