My name is Huy and I live and work in North Alabama. I'm a full-time engineer that does woodworking as a hobby and side-hustle. I produce cabinets and furniture, but often do projects around the house and shop. While I'm used to accomplishing tasks in a more traditional way, using both power tools and hand tools, I'm also exploring the use of new technology and woodworking techniques. My channel focuses mainly on woodworking, and the processes, methodology, and tools I use to produce projects. Join me as I pursue my passion.

Nice!
Masterful 😊😊
The Jointer.... Is a plainer????!!! What is this madness! How is this 5 years old and the 1st time I have seen this!???? GENIUS!!!! My brain just broke!!! 🧠
Thank you for commenting...it brought this to the top of my "to view list" I like that planer/jointer option
Nicely done. Loved it.
Great video and process!
missed you
MISUMI (I used them frequently in my engineering job)! I just found your podcast and am now binging your youtube! Love it, just ordered the 3hp Sawstop today!
After watching the video.. ok, "how to build dining chairs WITHOUT having unlimited amount of tools, machines, jigs, and resources" 😅
You lost me at jointer
Great information. Probably will refer back to this video from time to time. You're a great instructer/teacher. Look forward to future videos. Keep up the good work. Roger
Eu como aprendiz fico contente em ver as explicações dos profissionais em marcenaria, repassando suas dicas e habilidades! Só gratidão! 😂
It finally makes sense to me! It clicked at 8:26! Thank you!
A pure pleasure to both watch and learn from. Great work and work ethic. New subscriber here.
Great looking piece expertly built! Nice job! Thank you for sharing it.
Thank you for watching!
Nice one!
Thanks for the visit
So good to see a video from you. Love your work. I also use the Milwaukee install kit. So many different heads. Could you please tell me where you got the brass door stop catches. That classed the piece up even more. Not that is needed anymore class. Lol
I ordered them from Amazon. I've actually had good luck with these and think they're just a good as the Lee Valley equivalent. 50MM Ball Catch a.co/d/1jgppos
@@AlabamaWoodworker thank you so much for getting back to me. I live in Southeastern Alabama and would love to make a trip and maybe learn a few things
Outstanding work Huy! Do you have a like for the synthetic steel wool pads?
Thank you! I purchased mine from Grainger. Brand name is Norton. www.grainger.com/product/NORTON-Synthetic-Steel-Wool-Pad-4-1RDX3
Beautiful piece Huy. It was nice to hear a KZreadr admit he wasn't confident in a skill (turning) and found a different way to do something. Oh, and nice shout out to Guy with the tshirt. Btw - anyone else surprised a rocket scientist was watching Star Wars? 😂
Haha! I'm happy someone noticed that little "Easter Egg." I'm embarrassed at the fact that I have a very capable lathe, but haven't put in the time and effort to be better at turning.
Very stylish, as usual well executed fine piece of furniture, thak you for sharing
Thank you for watching!
havent seen a video from you in quite awhile ....was a joy to watch and awesome craftmanship as usual ....may i ask the brand of the earbuds you were using?? they look comfy
I think they are the Galaxy Buds Pro 2.
@@AlabamaWoodworker thanks for the tip i bookmarked those buds for later but what i saw in the video looks more like a bone mic of some sort ...anyway keep up the good videos i look forward to future ones
@Kapt6911 Oh yes, those are the Open Run Shokz. When I'm in the shop, I use noise canceling buds, and when in areas where I need to hear my surroundings, I use the Open Run Shokz.
Great design with excellent technique
Thank you!
Question: by prefinishing the drawers, are you accepting that you are losing the effectiveness of the glue bond and relying on the dominos only? Or are you scraping the lacquer off where applicable? Thx.
I'm assuming that the lacquer is not getting into the 5mm Domino mortises.
Wow! This is beautiful, Huy! It was awesome to see your little helpers hanging out with you! They will never forget the time that you all spend together.
Thank you! Yes, I'm trying to spend as much time with my little ones as possible.
I've been waiting for more of this content! Fantastic!
Thank you!
Thank you for watching.
Always enjoy your videos! Happy holidays!
Thank you! Happy Holidays!
Well done Huy. I always pick up a tip or two from your videos.
Thank you, Patrick! I really appreciate you watching.
Huy, Great work. Where did you find the great walnut? Also, congratulations on the addition of cute Elf.
Thank you! I purchased the Walnut from C. R. Muterspaw. I purchased the 100 bd ft pack. Very affordable to get it shipped to a freight terminal near me for pickup. It's actually cheaper than my local sawyer. crlumber.com/product/wal100bf/ I bought their mid-grade Walnut, which I thought was of good quality for this piece.
These old fashioned build videos tend to be less popular on youtube these days, but its nice to watch one like that from time to time.
Excellent work and video!!!! Thank you sir !!!!
I know that build videos aren't very popular but that's about all I have the capacity to do. Hopefully, folks find something helpful from my documentation. Also, thank you for watching.
Great video! Exactly what I was looking for
Those chairs came out fantastic. Great job!!
As a hobbiest, where do i gain the courage to be irrational enough to buy a jointer
Beautiful table! Nice clean design!
Man youve got great machines
Nice work. I really like the design and the finish.
It looks like you're using a windows surface device. What's the modeling software that you use?
I love these chairs. Do you have templates available for sale?
Beautiful work! Thanks for posting!
"L Fence": Brilliant! Never seen that before but will be building one before my next project. Thank you!
It's extraordinarily useful! I need to do a video on the many uses of an L-fence.
I really like the size of this workbench. Since I started, I've been using a WorkMate with various jigs for different operations. I realize now that I leave it set up all the time and I would like to build a 4 ft bench with wheels to leave up all the time. I think something like this would fit the bill. I even have a 24" Moxon vise to attach to it. Thanks so much.
Beautiful piece Huy. Thank you.
Thanks for watching!
what’s the brand and name of the two sided tape you use? and where do you source it? great video…🙂
I'm using X-fasten double-sided tape (not their woodworking tape, which is too thick). Their double-sided tape is really thin and is very strong if you make sure you have good adhesion by using a hard rubber roller.
You can find it on Amazon. Not sure you can purchase it direct.
@@AlabamaWoodworker where can I get that tape? 😊
Such a satisfying video 😴
Great video! Would you mind sharing information regarding your CNC? Home built? Design?
It's a machine built by a CNC builder in the Seattle area. Carl Bruce from Speedline CNC. It's 3hp water cooled spindle, 48"x48" cutting area, ball screw x- y- and z-axis, 1/2" aluminum bed. It's a pretty simple machine, but quite industrious.
Very nice.
Thank you! Cheers!
Glad to see you posting again. Very nice piece.
Thank you very much!
Beautiful build! I know YT can be a full time job in itself but man I wish you would put out more content! Your production is fabulous throughout.
I really appreciate you watching! I'm very much in the stage of life where I have very young kids. Hopefully, as they grow, I'll be able to edit more video. I'm actually sitting on a lot of content. I just need the time to put it together until videos.
Another Alabama woodworker here (stuck in California) FINALLY someone who appreciates red oak for what it is! A pretty great wood that's cheap and doesn't have to look like Grandma's cabinets! I built a kitchen table out of the stuff and a very similar sofa table. The table was given a similar look with a white hard wax oil and the sofa table I ebonized with India ink for the legs (walnut slab top). White oak would have been as expensive as walnut in my area...Great work!
White Oak has gotten outrageously expensive in North Alabama. I don't know why, but it's just as expensive as Walnut. If treated properly, I think Red Oak looks great. The India ink and white hardwax oil sounds like a great contrasting combination.
I love how precise and clean all your work and workspace is. The older I get the more I realise how important process is to virtually all aspects of life, and this is a beautiful illustration. With all the planning and jigs (and tools) in place, you make the actual construction look easy. My only (non-serious) complaint is having to wait seven months for the next video! Keep it up Huy.
I know, I really need to be better about putting out videos. I'm just so busy with my young family that I spend all my free time building.
@@AlabamaWoodworker I hear you, from one dad to another, with far too many unfinished projects around the home and garden. All part of the process.
very nice techniques
Thank you! Cheers!
Requested? U mean she told you., im married too..😂 table looks great! What brand push blocks are those ur using I really like them!
Haha! You know it all too well! Good to hear from you, Joe!
