High Voltage Engineering by MG Niasar

High Voltage Engineering by MG Niasar

In this channel I am going to cover high voltage engineering topics as well as my hobby. The topics are divided into four categories.

1- Background knowledge in physics and electrical engineering
2- Theory of high voltage engineering
3- High voltage experiments
4- Multiphysics modeling of high voltage components
5- Power electronics experiments
6- Other experiments (my hobby)

- I try to keep the theory part as simple as possible but in general this section would be more understandable for BSc and MSc and PhD students in electrical engineering and physics.
- To better demonstrate some concepts I will sometime add numerical simulation, mostly using Matlab and COMSOL Multiphysics.
- The experimental section would be understandable by most of people and will be linked to our theoretical knowledge as much as possible.
- My hobby section will mostly circle around scientific experiments on topics related to electrical, computer and mechanical science.

Is there a way to integrate elementwise? and extract the integrated values for the elements not the nodes?

I made this exact circuit at home. Just got it going yesterday. I'm having an issue though- for whatever reason I can't seem to get it above 40 volts . If I try it just dies. I have an adjustable voltage regulator on the way from AliExpress after watching this. The differences with mine are: 4 turns on the primary, 980 turns (32awg) on secondary. Also, mine is rectified by two 6A10 diodes in series. I'd really like to know why I can't get it past 40 volts. I wish I could post a couple of pics here. (P.S. I don't own an oscilloscope, I'm fairly new to electronics, but it's extremely high on my list). I am thoroughly and utterly impressed with you. Any advice or help you could offer would be appreciated. Thanks for great content

SOLUTION: you can force Fuxxing KZread by going to "Video details > Show More > Tags(where you put your taggs) and then add "yt:cc=on" as a tagg

Thank you for doing your best to help spooder! He did a big service for ypu by eradicating your drain flies and the least you did your best to show appreciation to said spider! I currently have recently found 2 in one of the unused rooms of my home and trying my best to keep it alive. However, I have not done enough research as to what I REALLY need to do to keep them around.

Great analysis. One important detail: the output transformer has 6 windings in series. It is critical in this type of high voltage range. If there was only one winding with 6 time more turns, assuredly, the transformer would internally produce arcing and would burn very quickly. Hence, the importance of using 6 isolated windings in series, as is the case here. Great video, thanks, I wanted to open one of those for a long time. 🎉

I've built a little office in a small closet; I'm in there now - me and my computer keep it warm, and if it gets colder than that I have a small space heater to make up the difference. Maybe not as comfy as a korsi, haha, but it's maybe easier to get work done.

13:00 You were measuring the capacitances while the capacitors were still part of the circuit; that generally produces incorrect results, yeah? Since the other parts of the circuit may e.g. have a capacitance of their own. Edit: ah, you do mention this later.

Thx for great video, I have one doubt , at the end of video for every value of Radius(R) every plot we are getting only from matlab solution or every stage again connected to comsol server giving those results...I hope we copied all commands required from comsol in matlab and for every iteration matlab itself gives those results and comsol is required at all

I use clove oil for my toothaches and relief from insect bites. Couldn't find any so I purchased whole cloves and soaked about a tablespoon of them in about 2 ozs of water for a few minutes. I gargling it for a few minutes brought me instant relief. Added more water and plan to keep it close by in case I need it tonight.

This may be a late comment but i was wondering, how did you set the voltage regulator so that it can control the output? Mine pops at 110 volts and doesn't work at 50 volts until the pot is all the way through
