  I am aware that it has been 3 years since this came out, but if I was there when it came out, I would say: "Get a new dog that looks like Maple and name the dog 'Syrup' and enjoy your moments with him/her and play your songs to him/her just like you did for Maple and make sure he/she has a great life".
