I find that the strangest things trigger me, and I end up crying for a dog or cat or bird that passed years ago. I've had so many angels live with me over the years and - of course - have lost all of them eventually. You're right. It's a hole that never heals. I think my heart is more holes than heart now. But - yes - I gave it willingly.

But I think that "God Bless" in this context should just be interpreted as "May luck/bliss/happiness/.. be upon you" and nothing religious. Many originally religious phrases have been adapted into language and lost their religious routes, e.g. "Oh my God", "Jesus!" (When sth really surprising happened) or "God Bless". Whether these terms really have religious meaning purely depend on the person who said them. Just imagine someone on the streets saying "Oh my god!" and then someone else asking "Which god do you mean exactly?". That would be rather confusing and unnecessary, pretty much like in this case.

So I wrote a song for Maple to the tune of Hallelujah, with heavy influence+some lines from the song itself and the Lmanburg version though I don't know if anyone will see it, but yeah here's the lyrics, sing it or anything y'all would like

This is probably the 4h time I've seen this incredibly moving and loving video. Today I woke up to the bitter sweet memory of my own beloved little dog Baby Girl, that we raised from a pup. She died many years ago, but the sting of her loss remains. She was and remains my heart. I too am a musician/fingerstylist for 33+ years now and understand the healing power of music only too well. Today I needed healing and hearing Leanard Cohen's Hallelujah played so beautifully and seeing Maple and her loving soul through her eyes helped that healing process continue on. I broke down and I am not ashamed to say I wept until I couldn't cry anymore. If there is a heaven for dogs and I believe there is, this would be it. Thank you Trench for your incredible healing and loving vision. Love you Maple. Peace. ❤

It's absolutely amazing to see this many people who are sharing the grief of losing Maple together. Thankyou for showing us the beautiful cinematography of Maple ❤ Let us smile in the honour of a beautiful dog, I.e. Maple.

Why do I keep torturing myself, I just end up bawling. Miss you Maple and I didn't even know you Pup. But you were part of the drumming brother/sisterhood girlie...we miss you.

I lost my dog - my best friend - Sam (named after Samwise Gamgee from The Lord of the Rings) four days ago due to a heart condition that he had. His health really deteriorated the last couple of months resulting in his lungs filling up with water to a point where he couldn't breath. Fortunately my mom made it to the vet somewhat in time, but he passed out when they arrived. The vet was able to give him some drugs which I sincerely hope eased his pain before he was put down a few minutes later. Unfortunately, even though I tried, I wasn't able to make it to the vet in time thus not being able to say my final goodbye. These last days have been really difficult; it breaks my heart that he was suffering so much (without even so much as making a sound) and that I was such a lousy friend not being by his side right there at the end when he needed me the most. Seeing this video makes me think of all the things we didn't get to see and to do together. But in some sense it also made me hopeful that he is some place where the setting is just as beautiful as in the video, where he is free from all the pain and suffering, doing all the things he enjoyed. At least I hope so. Thank you for your beautiful video. Edit: I am overwhelmed and deeply humbled by the messages each and everyone of you has left. I’m very grateful for everyone who has taken their time to comment and for all those who’ve shared their story. I usually I don’t comment on KZread, and my comment was in some sense trying to make sense of the situation. Getting all these comments really made my day.

I'm so sorry for your loss.. that is the hardest thing to experience.. I lost my dog Zander the exact same way.. and I also was too late to be there for his passing. It's a slap in the face and you can't help but beat yourself up over it... You certainly consider yourself something of a traitor just for not being there(Perhaps that is because we care so much that we will punish ourselves mentally).. but somehow, I know that they know how much you truly loved them and the impact they had on your life. There was also so much I wanted to do with Zander, just like your Sam.. but when I stop to think about it, maybe they knew how loved and fortunate they were to have such loving people in their lives. Dogs are pretty incredible..

And for those who have lost their "best friends", it's a bittersweet sight, isn't it? I hope that your broken heart is healing, that the pain is softening and that your memories of your beloved dog are accompanied with fewer tears and more smiles.

My eyes are leaking...

I lost two of my dogs within the span of a few months. One from old age, the other from sickness. I can’t help but cry watching this and being reminded what amazing pets they were.

Two years since her last smile. I grown up with this powerful couple by my side in my hardest times. Oh, Maple, you gave me my greatest peaces, the calm I often used to need and all those tears, which I could not free without your presence and your easygoing eyes feeling those chords. Now you’re gone, we all miss you so much. Thank you for all these years, we do and we will miss your forever. I think Leonard Cohen composed for twenty years this tune just for you. Thank you both. Loving, until the end of times.

If this is what heaven looks like, I don't mind dying at all.

No eye has seen, no ear has heard, neither has mankind comprehended, the things which God has prepared for them that love him, this is not speaking about the earth this is speaking about heaven, the prophets were murdered, Jesus was murdered, the apostles likewise were also murdered, but in heaven is where God gave them their reward, heaven is not forever as the bible states, the bible states God will make a new Heaven(universe) in this case and a new earth, for the former things have passed away, and God will wipe away all tears from their eyes, and there will be no more death, sorrow, or pain, make sure you know God, and he has come to know you before your death, that before you die you are made a new creature in Christ with a changed heart, that you have repented and turned away from your sin, then from there, God will lead you to a path of righteousness, and to the path of salvation, its not about Good deeds outweighing bad deeds, if you break the law once your good deeds do not matter, you get punished for the law that you have broken, and God made hell for the devil, and if you are willing to follow the devil you will go with the devil, but Jesus came, suffered and died on the cross for your sins, his blood is what cleanses us and gives us a second chance, and he promises us his spirit to teach us and guide us, so that our words may be justified by him. Amen

@@Patrick_Kozma You could have just left it at the verses and let people's wonder and imagination be sparked...also, I get where you may have gotten your beliefs about Catholics, and I still can't wrap my head around the icon thing (although I think it's something like this video, that they're a focus and inspiration for worship). There are plenty of faithful Jesus-loving Bible-reading Catholics out there...if you talk to them the whole Mary thing is a lot more nuanced than we were taught.

I'm so sorry for your loss....Maple was a true angel and we all loved her so much

I still cry watching these videos of Maple over a year after her passing. Feelings of peace, joy and sadness wash over me. She was so special. I hope this is what heaven is like.

I miss my husky, I lost him a week before my bday 2 years ago. I always dreamed I would be able to drive him around when I got my license, but I guess not. I love you nanuq, home your doing well boy

Sadly for us, Marple has gone, but she will stay forever through our memories and the videos. Sorry for your loss good man, and R.I.P for our sweethart Maple, we will miss her.
