    Im in east Tenn. Last year went outside bout 3am and heard a neighbors hound howling 1st thing. After the hound would howl tho something else would make a howl type sound but it was in the cover of trees and brush. After listening for a few seconds i told my wife to cone out and listen to maybe identify the other sound. About the time she came out both howls stopped and heard meticulous, careful, slow foot steps like youd do if stalking a prey and trying not to make alot of noise. About 10-15 seconds after the foot steps started SOMETHING BIG jumped out of the treeline, landing behind a neighbors junk vehicle bout 70 feet from where we was standing. Thi aminal was no dog, wolf, bear or BIGFOOT. It growled and the growl hit deep inside me making hairs stand and giving me chill bumps. With no weapon i immediately grabbed my wife and went inside and shut/locked the door. It was about 200 lbs, covered in blackish brown fur, fur was more bushy in head/neck area like a lion's mane, had reddish-orange eyes. There happen to be a light on a utility pole a few from where the animal landed after jumping out of the woods or else i wouldnt got a good view of it to describe. The growl is what tore me up. Ive listened to the growl of every animal that growls and nothing is close until i found one sound,,,,,,,,,,,,, a WEREWOLF! Crazy i know but i know what my eyes seen, wife also believes thats what it was. If id not seen it then id never believe it. That night another neighbor had a baby kitten disappear as well. I now believe in werewolves.

    I know in Canada we have coyotes cross with wolves. They’re called coywolves. Almost sounds like that, but not quite.

    I beg to differ with you about scopes being better than open sights. The determining factor is visual distance, and quick acquistion, (like you said,, squriells are jumpie little critters). I live in a pretty brushie area.Two days ago I was target practicing. Strange as it seems, (or at least to me), I heard a squirrel chattering. I quietly walked up to the tree line searching for the squirrel. I spotted him, raise by gun trying to locate him in my scope. Too close I guess, not a clear picure of the squirrel. Took a shot and missed. He ran a little further away, located a blob in the fork of the tree that I knew was the approximate location where the squirrel was last eye sighted. Looked in the scope, shot at the blob and down fell the squirrel! A scope has it's place. But not in heavily wooded and brushie areas like the back of my property.

    Tom, I need your help. I have I believe a 1968 Allstate model 50, by carter and co. Made by marlin I believe. A couple of things are different. It has a 25 inch barrel along with the 25 inch loading tube. It does not have a bolt hold open On the last shot. It does have a bolt hold button on the charging handle. It does not have any injections spring Like the Marlin And I cannot find any information or videos, showing one without ejection spring Like mine. You are the only KZreadr that I can find that seems to have all the knowledge on these Marlins. Any information that you can give me on this one would be appreciated.

    Forgive me the restoration is not just wood stain and shooting targets. I hoped for real gunsmithing on the action .Or just not dissising ammo. You never showed how to load it. Or addressed the action and feed issues. I don't like to kill like you.

    My first one was a 1984, which I gave to my nephew after I found the 1988 60. The 84 had been in rough condition but ended up being super accurate. Josh has dressed it up a little more since he has had it. And Now, I have one on layaway at my local pawn shop. Serial number says it is a 1990. But it has the full length magazine and also last shot hold open. It's almost mint condition. It's funny, I have had three of them and all three had both features.

    I tried the Winchester M-22 subsonic and it was awful. Utter garbage. It is also 45 grains, but coated with black copper, whatever that is. It was a box full of misfires and FTFs and FTEs. I gave away about 250 rounds to someone at the range. Maybe it worked better for them.

    I have had one of these for nearly 50 years. Used it for small game and varmints - love it! Another great powder is IMR 4227; later choice is Hornady’s Varget. The Achilles Heel of the little rifle is its magazine spring. If anyone knows a source for magazines and/or springs, I’d appreciate a response. Thanks and thank you Mr Cumb. outdoorsman.

    I see 16 gauge, I like and subscribe. Simple as. Love 16 gauge. took several turkeys with a 16. 12 gauge might have all the cool factory loads out there but with a little reloading ingenuity, you can reload 16 into just about anything a 12 can do.

    I used to have a 16 gauge years ago that was a hair trigger galore…I sat it down and leaned it up against a tree when I stopped to pee, and it went off, another time I was just walking down a path and it went off. I got rid of it but wished I would’ve held onto it and just got it fixed.

    That's something I don't have is a "vintage" bolt action 22. They just don't come up for sale, especially not a repeater. I do have a couple that are evenly matched in the Ruger American Rimfire and the Savage Mark ii,F. The Savage was more accurate out of the box, while I had to work to improve the Ruger's accuracy.

    A good way of handling the complete use of semi auto action cleaning is a minimum of once a year. If fired a lot a person will start getting an Idea of how many rounds to fire before needing to completely clean. Some times one big use or several weeks or months. This video is very nice in how to do it properly.

    I just inherited one of these that was my Papaw's, i shot it open sights at about 20-25 yards 3 shot group and made one hole. I also got a Marlin 60 that was his, but having problems with the scope set up. User error most certainly, I'm new to the hunting world. I enjoy your videos!

    Great video, one thing to note is you want to lock the bolt back when putting the side plate assembly back in so you don’t accidentally bend the ejector spring. The factory manual mentions it. Outstanding use of common tools everyone has in their garage. Thanks again

    Love the video. I have a squirrel 60 1976 model, a speedmaster 552 1965 model and a Remington 550-1 from the 50’s. Live them all but my favorite is the 550-1. It shoots shorts, long, and long rifle just like the speedmaster does. (Which I’m surprised you didn’t mention). Oh I forgot, also have a newer Henry .22. Feel like the Rifleman when I shoot that one. 😂

  • @CumberlandOutdoorsman
    @CumberlandOutdoorsman7 күн бұрын

    You're right, I forgot to include the fact that the Remington Speedmaster can shoot short, long and long rifle cartridges interchangeably. I did feature the rifle in a previous review where I did include that information. About four years ago I had the chance to get a 550-1 for $200. Wish I had that chance again. Sometimes we decide against our better judgement and that is one of those moments we regret.
